Multi species and still I watch Ty and question myself..don't if you are catching the big ones in any place you fish You are doing the same thing as Ty..
We used to go to this farm pond,the Gills were so big we would call them Frankengill's,their foreheads had huge frame bumps at top of their heads.. They were freaks,water was do dark even the Calico's were dark toned and jumbo...19inch Calico swimming there.. We would fillet and dump in canned evaporated milk with potato ,onion,chives...
I remember,as a kid, going to lake havasu! Saw the london bridge and caught some giant catfish! Also, remember how hot it was😱 Those were some monster pan fish! I would love to catch a few of them👍
I love fishing Havasu. One of my fav places on the planet. I have never tied into one of the 5+ lb sunfish but caught many over 3. Love smallie fishing there too.

Awesome , I have one mounted that was 2 1/4 lbs I caught out of my friends pond. Those things can pull like no other panfish I ever caught. I wish you would put them on a scale so we can see how heavy they are.

Also Ty, if you’re still there, I always seemed to get them to bite better on beds by drop shotting the worm with a 3/16 oz drop shot weight rather than putting the weight above the hook. Might give that a try.

Okay I can add Lake Havasu to my bucket list. I goes right next to Grenada for crappie. Hearing shellcrackers pull drag is music to my hear. Those were some true tanks.
Growing up in the South we had specific names for "Pan fish". In his opening statement it was mentioned that "pan fish" were considered to be either "Sunfish" or "Crappie"'. Where I grew up "Sunfish" are considered "Bream". Crappie are up to 4-5 lbs are considered "Slab Crappie". Believe me when they are considered cooked that they taste nothing close to the same. Thought I would let you know. As a kid we fished at Tunica Cutoff. It was a lake fed by the waters of the Mississippi River. Believe me some days the fish were huge. Great eating.
Here n CNRL VA we call them Bream & 4 alot guys like myself it's very likely your very first fish hooked & catching any size just takes u back 2 those summer days as a Lil guy & now watching the boys do the same & as excited as u with those monsters with their 4'-7' is indescribably... AWESOME VID MAN

Those are very tasty when fried up for the meat is slightly sweet and easily comes off the bones. I used to just dispatch them, scale them, cut the head and fins off, remove the entrails, rinses, dry, and dip in egg/milk beat up and pat into seasoned cornmeal flour mixture to fry up in liquid oill like canola oil. One of the very best tasting varieties of fish in the world and lots of fun for people of all ages. Not a bad fish for it's easy to catch in numbers, anyonne can catch them, and they taste and smell so good. It's quality is pretty and clean.

Ive caught 12 /13 inch bluegill and i thought those were big. ! Didnt even know they got that big!
Man someone should take some of those panfish and start using those breeds and stock some lakes and ponds. Huge genetics

Pound for pound big sunfish have to be the strongest fighting fish in North America. Imagine fighting those things on a 3 or 4 weight fly rod.
