  • Broken Hill has always been about a place to stop, slept and then move on next day towards a final destination.
One of my take aways from my earlier 'Perth Trip' is that constant days of driving when rolling solo is extremely tiring and a new rule was for every full day of driving, I would take a days rest and check out out the local area I found myself.
Broken hill was my first stop and one full of history that I didn't previously take the time to see. It is Australia's oldest mining town dating back to the 1880's.
My first stop was the Line of Lode Miner's Memorial (I only spent a short time checking out the Mining tourist as I was only in Broken Hill for a day). I then paid a visit to Silverton, the howe of 'Mad Max' but the museum was sadly closed. The John Dynon Gallery was very interesting and I spent a while looking at the artwork (wishing I had deeper pockets). My last stop was the Living Desert and Sculpture visit, which as hot as it was, it was still peaceful and an amazing view - next time I would opt to do the sunset tour.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, always interesting to see different parts of Australia from other people’s view point. And of course “Reggie”.
