Notes and comments:
The best possible version of this show out there! Great video and audio quality!
looks like jason is the only only one enjoying this
True
And ironically he left few months later.
He has always been a dramatic bassist
Idk Lars seems to be enjoying himself. Or the cocaine at least
1:47:24-Lars, WTF?
Too much cocaine
FUCK! he had like 8 bars to locate himself and failed miserably!
The look on James face. Wtf is Lars doing?
@@victorbicudo1374 yeah wtf
best metallica concert of the millenium so far
Jason at 5:53 HAHAHAHAHAHA
They were playing like shit and Jason was trying to get Lars back in time. smh!
Milo tienes toda la razón Jason le aportaba mucha energía algo q n lo tiene trujilla pero es. Muy buen bajista
Probably best gig ever. FFaken krejze show!
I disapper is so underranted. But, the most live versions are sucks! This song is good only in the studio...
A teen fell like 100 feet from the very top at Baltimore Ravens stadium.Dead on the cement, sad but true.No pun
No that happened at Foxboro on the first night of the tour summer 2000
Richard Balser it happened at this show. I was there too.
Not a fan of Mastertarium - I'm glad that's retired.

Remember this like it was yesterday tho it's been 20 years almost. Loudest concert I was ever at. All the openers were quiet compared to Metallica. My hearing was out for a while. Ringing ears. Lol😂😂😂
Spasibo
3:44 THAT BASS TONE. wish i could hear rob with that that tone but hed need to use a pick and hit strings really hard.
Rob is a beast live. Hope you get to hear him in person. Jason had the energy and vocals, but Rob has him covered on the bass.
Um, his pick has nothing to do with it lol lol it’s just the mix of the bass itself lol it’s very Korn sounding
@@aaronmarkham4424 pick can change tonality of a guitar and/or bass. rob scallon has a good video on it.
The part from 1:17:15 to 1:17:30 is a little weird for sure...
raysdga 😂
it like Lars talkin to his legs for a second there. "come on buddy, dont fail me" hahahaha
The sound of Jason's electric bass is very powerful and cruel
Very true!!!! And his vocals too
I was at this show and Jason was fuckin incredible.
shoobie doobie shoobie doo wop
I wonder if Jason ever looks these old videos up to see how fucking awesome he is.
We miss you buddy!!!
Fresh strings on a jazz bass, cranked ampeg and a plectum. That tone is awesome.
only sadowsky jazz bass can do that yeah!
+Jorge Sanchez Sadowski basses are awesome. Always have amazing tone no matter what is being played on them.
I have 3 of them, 4th on the way. Nothing cuts like a Sadowsky man, Jason must have shredded strings with that right hand attack.
Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him break a string on video
13:32 I had NEVER heard that harmony before!!!!
We havent heard harmonies like this for 20yrs now
that was all Jason babe lml
@@JuanPabloContrerasC actually jason is singing the normal line and james is on the 3rd
You definetely can tell the band was not having a good time during this tour. James' voice was out of tune, singing with less energy than the previous and amazing '99, Lars' lack of tempo at some songs, only Kirk and of course Jason were playing at their best.
Drugs and alcohol eill do that
are u sure kirk was playing at his best? xd
Well they were getting slaughtered in the media, so that probably didn’t help. And they were probably exhausted. They were going pretty hard for years straight without much of a break.
Jason fucking Newsted 🤘🏻
56:35 OMG i love this song!
bass and drums sound great
Finally I found someone who respect lars
Jason's bass and backing vocals are sooo good 🤘🤘
Turn the page was a fucking disaster. Did everybody take like 10 shots each between sets?
It was all Lars. He looked like he was trying to talk to his tech about something. He screwed up 2 different sections.
***** yeah but he was amazing on for whom the bell tolls with jason ( they did all the " good " job ), when James voice and kirks guitar were off
Shawn C. by the way i think it's a fucking awesome show, metallica forever
+Travis Lunney It bc Bob Dole made them angry. 1:49:08 -.- the message is clear.
On a positive note Memory Remains was flawless... :/
Fun fact: James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd) was at this show! Hes somewhere in the front row!
Dude that's awesome
That’s crazy. I’ve been following his whole career And i was i this show too
Jason, I miss you..
doggycrue fuck you
Your opinion is from a 2 years old,@@juanrezende4914. Jason Newsted was the second best bass Metallica ever had after Cliff Burton. The third, sadly is Roberto Trujillo. Jason and Cliff were totally badass at the concerts of Metallica, even though Cliff was more inside of the band than Jason Newsted.
Sure, Roberto is also badass, but not at all.
@@npc_combine_s ithink the third is ron , and yes trujillo is a good guest but only that
@@belmonthe1 Yeah, maybe you're right.
I miss cliff😢😢
Always great to hear No Lea Clover Live. And I Disappear was an unexpected delight
I was at this show!!! Most random thing ever that I searched for it and it was actually on here. I was 17 and shit faced the whole day, I actually wanted to leave early, before Metallica finished, I was so exhausted, it takes a lot of energy to be drunk as shit in the blazing sun all day. My friends refused to leave though so I'm happy I didn't.
@Sledge Patrick Didn't someone fall from the bleachers somewhere and die? I don't remember, it was 20 years ago and I was shit faced. But anyways, I don't need to prove to you I was at this show. It's not difficult to remember, July 4, 2000 at Ravens Stadium.
@@IJustFiguredThisOut Yeah, they did. Someone died.
Yea I was here too we drove down from philly. Powerman 5000 opened and I forget the other. Remember it being an awesome show, same as u I typed it in and blew my mind to find it. Pre smartphone era I figured it was slim chance
wow I thought I just got used to his weaker voice but he really lost it for a while. He sounds ten times better now.
this is when he was getting way too drunk
they sounded way better here than they have sounded ever since newsted left
Jason, the best of the best!
Larga vida a Roberto. 🇲🇽🖤
3:44 I got same bass sound on my bass!
on of the good things about using a pick
JASOOOOOOONNNNN¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ YEAH¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ;)
I was at this concert!!! I was VERY fucking close to the stage!!!! This was literally surreal. Amazing show. They did 3 ENCORES!!! This was such an amazing concert. Jason really sang a lot on this shoe because James was having issues.
I was there also. It was awesome!
On this shoe?
@@MetallicaLive show ya pekkerhead
God Hetfield was awful at this show. He is not even trying to sing properly.
+Mesimarch Well, I think at the time he was still drinking and i read some where that he used to drink heavily. So, yea this probably before he went to rehab for his alcohol problem.
+Bryce Petitt Jason should have just sung the whole show. At least he wasn't as drunk as the rest of them. Well maybe Kirk. But Lars and James were definitely messed up up there. Doesn't matter, though because it's Metallica. They rock no matter what.
hmm true true
+Bryce Petitt Only band I can think of that was louder was Motorhead.
I was at the show too. It sounded awesome. I was front and center. So close that when the threw picks and drumsticks in the crowd they went over our heads. The sound was great. These youtube recordings never do live shows justice. The natural reverb of the stadium always brings good rock bands to life. James voice, imo, needs a little reverb when live to balance out the all tonal shifts he does (between raspy old school voice and the newer actually singing voice which he shifts back and forth between sometimes mid-word/lyric). Anyways, the show fuckin' rocked and there were a few minutes of fireworks at the end with it being the fourth of july. The only issue was the the fireworks were purple because they must have bought them from the Baltimore Ravens. Purple and 'tallica don't really go but everyone digged it anyway.
what’s wrong with lars?
What?
THIS is THE BEST metal band all'time yyyeeeaaaa
Sleep my friend.... And you will see Jason..... Hahaha
Everyband need bass player!!!!
#Jasonatorium
jason newsted !!
1:17:16
I can believe how this was 20 years ago
dude, Jason and James singing "searching" together sounds awesome!!!
James at 1:42:00 once more again and i cut you'r head.😅
I love Trujillo and Burton, but man, Jason gave this band a really badass attitude. You like it or not, Jason was the most badass guy in the band. When he left, the energy left with him. Not trying to hate the band cause I love this guys, but this band is not as powerful as it was with Newsted
100% agree
My fav bassist is Cliff but this is true
agree
Jason and "bad ass" no mate he was not. For sure he was far better member for Metallica than the crap dancer Rob.
@@ozanareyiz7773 jason was not a badass??? ROFL
My second Metallica concert when I was 18. My best friend to this day and I went. Had great seats. We could feel the heat from the pyrotechnics. Great end to a day full of great bands. Korn, System of a down, Powerman 5000, and Kid Rock before he went all country right wing nut.
I was 18 too. Never seen so many topless girls in my life.
There’s always some left wing progressive douchebag that brings up politics where it does not belong
Does anyone have the fucking first show of this tour? I was on stage almost all day and night
I found the first show: ruclips.net/video/_rgvuXIiCFk/видео.html
What happened to Lars during the track " turn the page" ? Did he pass out for a few seconds or was he tired?
44:00 No Leaf Clover 😌
This was my first concert ever!! 12 years old. 10 days later, Ozzfest at Nissan Pavilion; what a summer!!
One of the best sanitarium performances by Metallica ... Awesome sound
You should have heard it in person. It was awesome as fuck.
31:20 sounds fast and Amazing..
To uploader - Thanks so much for this!!! I have been looking for this concert for years because I was 13 years old at this time and my parents were called to gather a team to cater to a concert at PSInet stadium and I was a clueless kid. They came back and said 'yeah it was a big concert, there was umm... Korn.... and.. - i said KORN?! they said yeah and um... Metallica, a few other bands i think.. - they said this really casually not knowing that Metallica had been my obsession band for 4 years, especially the past 6 months I discovered Master of puppets. I about died and said omg why didn't you take me with you!!!!!!!! - This was the concert! So cool to watch this knowing that I was only about 3 miles away. I was at home listening to Metallica none the wiser to the fact of what I had missed out on - the experience of a lifetime. So yeah, cool story I know (nottt) but none the less you are really great. I also never knew that the clip where lars flopped his drum stick was from this concert in particular.. Maybe in a different dimension I could have been there and caught that thing. Hahaha. a million thanks man cheers!!!!
+quantumrift11 guess who?
+quantumrift11 you SHOULD HAVE GONE brother. Summer Sanitarium 2000 was my first concert, ever. Not for the faint of heart, as we were on the floor. It's a long day, with 4 headliners BEFORE Metallica ( reason I was there ), to be standing on your feet etc. My & my best friend/band-mate were each 14, & by far the youngest fans that close to the stage (20-30 feet back - center). It was NOT easy, & we had to fight through the entire concert against people 3x our size, but it was damn worth it!
SUMMER SANITARIUM 2000 BABY! It was mayhem. I went back in 2003, for the 2nd round. It was weak in comparison (no surprise as Jason had already left the band). Rock on.
+PHUNK Y'all weren't the youngest. My best friend was there and he was only 12 or 13. If I could have gone, I would have been 9, and it would have been my first concert. I really wanted to go, too. Parents said no.
I was there, it was one of the best concerts I have gone to and I have been to over 400 shows. I even liked Kid Rock's set.
This was the last time I saw Metallica, was an awesome show was by the soundboard for most of it. Just sad I missed SOAD cause I got there late =(
I like Newsted because he was totally into Metallica's music. Truijjio (spelling?) is a better musician--but not into it like Newsted.
+NorthWest NW Trujillo
fuck Trujillo
oh come on, rob is real nice
MrJoaohetfield fuck you.
thanks
we will never see this james again ... the drunk james hetfield !!! i was able to see him. summer santaruim i was like 15 -16 years old. fuck time has sure past wow!!
4:19....DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Play Mastertarium in 2020!
Best fuel performance i've ever seen
Was there. They played do late that they got fined... 50g if i remembet rite. They told the croud. We yelled lowder, they played on. Took the fine from the city. Was a 4+ hour performance. Epic.
Crowd surffed to the front during sad but true, as the guard reached for me i straightend out. Clipped some dudes old lady in the head with my arm. Saw the sweat fly from there heads. I have had some awesome experiences in my life... some iv forgotten, this stays with me. Love you Amy. Dan.
Miss you kristie... found you in the stands during nothing elce matters. We we're over. Still beautiful. Hope one day you find this.
It was powerman5000,system of a down, kid rock, korn, and then metallica.Out of all of them metallica sucked.
Maybe try not being a heroin shooting piece of shit loser and you would have loved the fuck out of the Metallica set.
Man ive seen and worked them about a zillion times but this just seems like the worst show ive seen them perform sorry Tallica just being honest. I even looked up when James started taking vocal lessons again because he sounds like shit. Only on that is kicking ass is Jay and Kirk and even Kirk is blowing it
Richard Balser totally agree
All washed out, slow, Lars fucking up even more than usual etc etc...
This was my first concert ever. I was 13. Fuckin A I'm having flash backs of this day. Yeah Jason sounds the best out of all them here. And this was his last tour.
We need Jason for Creeping Death
They were playing like hot garbage.
Hit likes for Jason.....
But am lars fan
@@Cherrypie069 no u have to be the fan of jason not lars
Never because he focking left the band !!!!😏
@@Cherrypie069 lors was responsible for his oxit from the bond
Lors is the best he’s danish dinamite
It looks like James was the back vocalist here.
I’m a fan of playing live songs slow but man I thought seek and destroy was never gunna end!
Lars best show ever.
lol
Jason was a fucking SLAYER, man. what a legend.
Why does James look like Chad Kroeger lmao
Jason already quit in january, did he have a contract to keep?
He quit in 2001.
Legendary and solid , do not muddle - high qualitative and I want to kiss James , well , accept for me order on it's ? I am need kiss HIS hands after that , music is a wonderfully.🍀🍃🍎🍷🗽🍻🍎🍃🍀
1:28:51
This concert is about Jason
4:30 Why did he say it like that lol
Damn, 1st time I ever heard NLC without the sympathy. It dragged a bit, but was still cool. First time I've ever heard Lars play too slow in a lot of the show!!! This shit was right down the road from me, I don't know why I didn't wind up going?? Was prob drunk. Great video though!!!
at least they didnt rush
Newstead was the best
jason was a fuckin force
JAISON 👍🤟💣
Awesome bass in sanitarium.... Jason newstead rules
1:32:08 blackout in the best part
I've just invented a time machine and i've got the message from the future:
Seems like we all will have to wait more than a year for a new album to come. Exactly 3 years
17 years ago and til this day they are still a rocking :) Can't wait for Arizona on Aug 4th 2017.
I have the audio of the concert commercial for that show posted on my RUclips. Feel free to head there and check it out. It’s there somewhere
38:40 Lars' mistake #1.
1:47:24 Lars' mistake #2.
38:43 James face... 😅
1:47:59 fail # 3
Creeping death intro was screwed too
Worst vocals on creeping death along with the Woodstock version in 1999
I dissapear...many people talk about that the song was for Jason, however I think this was Hetfield's feeling around his way of life...Since Bleeding me he was announcing what was happening to him.
it probably triggered it because he left not too long after. gotta look between the lines somtimes
LOL no, song was especially made for Mission Impossible II.
Dean Winchester its quite a coincidence none the less
In some parts of the concert isn't images. Thanks for upload.
I like Jason but some people are so narrow minded like metallica sound great now without him. Its not as if they are done now that he's not in the band.
And he left, he wasn't fired he left
Jason is Metallica
This is the last best metallica live show
+Rigor “Psalm 69” Mortis That does suck. Newstead was a much better fit than Rob Trujillo. Trujillo isn't bad, just not what they need. Cliff was the best they ever had, though.
+Dave Dobbins rob is a gift for this Band, such a laid back all around nice dude. plus he is a far better bassist than newsted
+Lucas Landolfo fuck you sucker
yeah Rob seems like a really cool and humble dude. I'm sure he's super easy to hang out with. And yes he certainly by no reasonable doubt is a more skillful bass player than newsted. Newsted brought a whole other stage presence game than Rob will ever come close to
MrJoaohetfield Jason was a better fit for Metallica of course, we have to except Rob because its been 14 years almost. but i agree being a better musician doesnt always mean better. heck even some amassing bassists way better than Jason or Rob who auditioned in 1986 but Metallica chose Jason because his energy was what they needed.
То время когда атмосферу тащил Джейсон , а не Джеймс....
epic dude at 14:23
Is it me.... , Or does Lars seem all over the place ?
Someone stuck a kick me note on Lars' back
Thanks brother for the upload..,
That's just a beautiful drum kit!
1:48:00 is a pretty good Lars fail that I haven’t seen before lol. And yeah... it’s pretty clear that the band was just going through the motions at this point, aside from Newsted
Best times, jason, no fractal......
great tone this show. cant really say i like the new " het set" james plays now adays
Even this tone isn't that impressive late 80s/early 90s tone is the best tone they ever had that tone was skull crushing
1:47:25 - 1:47:26 WOW
I was there. Amazing show.

1:12:29..anyone needs more proof, that Jason is MUCH BETTER than Trujilo?
No, it still has not convinced me. Rob is better!
it may even be on vocals, but on bass it does not even come close to Robert Trujillo!
Need Proof Look up Metallica - SPARTA- 2000 full show- Then we can talk about Rob
buedro28 Jason saved the day at sparta 2000
Trujillo can play all of these songs, full speed, just as good as Burton, without a pick. Jason’s great, but he’s no Trujillo.
