If it wasn't for chinese pens, I would probably not get so sucked into the hobby. Let's be honest, the high end german, italian or japanese fountain pens are absolutely great but not when you are starting out and especially without a huge budget. When people bash chinese pens it is likely due to wrong reasons or biases. So I hope they are here to stay and will keep coming out with more.
@@zoznammic it's ok. Horseman laughed at Mercedes in 1897. The thing of Chinese pen is introducing a value system completely different from the West: humble, disposable, versatile and open to change.
Thank you for your videos. Your RUclips presence really push in to give Chinese pens a try. The first video I watched was your review on Chinese god nib pens. And now Amy favorite EDC is the Moonman A1 in "orange."
Many Chinese manufactured pens are really great value. I bought a 12 pack of Jinhao Lamy clones, a couple of the Wingsun/Yongsheng 3008 & 3013's and three lovely Lanbitou 3059's for drawing and artwork. Everyday writing is with the Jinhao x750's and the really important stuff is with my two black and gold X159's. I've had to tune a little bit on the #8 nibs but all the smaller nib's are as is and worked straight out of the box. A hidden gem were the three brush type safari lookalikes, a welcome addition for quick water washes. My advice is to find a brand and series that works for you. I know what to expect from the one's I've chosen and so I always have a uniform writing experience. Happy inking!
@@davidparrishproductions5082 must have: montblanc 146, pelikan m800. Good to have: mb 149, m1000. That's the base/benchmark for any modern pen discussion. Love that T1 as mucg as the 1866 wood, a very much underrated FP. The china knot nibs are on my list as well as the HD T1, though still not available on A/L/I, like the Majohn Ti 137 and some other pens. I'm sure the HD T1 will be sold at 28 to 34 USD in the beginning. Majohn C5 is still at USD 46 and upwards. I'lll stay away right now. on the other hand, waiting a year or so can get you more fair prices, e.g. looking at some older Asvine models, now in the USD 30 range. Before in the USD 50 range. If they are sold out, they're sold out.

Love my hongdian pens , the nibs have great bounce and flex without being too soft .
I got the Hongdian 1866 and I agree that the nib is great. The ergonomics didn't work for me though so I will pass on this one. Thanks for the review!
@@LivingArmor196 yeah, a medium, also slightly small to my taste.

You don't buy flexibility. You buy pens.

I tell the story of both sides of the coin. Not really promoting anything. My thoughts only.
