    Hi John, another hack I use is to put a Q-tip shaft, without the cotton, in the spring. That worked most of the time then decided to turn the lower ring of the spring 1/2 turn which keeps the upper ring of the spring to the left side of its hole, like the cotton top on your way, problem no more on my machine. YMMV.

    Thanks John i think I'll go this way instead of the primal rights one

    Since the whole is already there, I'd use a drill press and enlarge the whole and then thread it. It ensures the bolt you use will have a large enough face to allow the stem to sit flat and firm again it. Then you can ensure that the end of the bolt is completely flat. Also you can just use 1 thousandths' flat washer/rings inside to act as a shim. Using 1 thousandths "shims" is all that is needed. You can just count how many shims you need. Then you don't have to tap the whole if you don't want to. Or add the shims to the bottom of the stem and super glue them in place. There are tons of ways to skin that cat. Dang... now I want Chinese food for lunch. I wonder why? ;)

    Great Tips for modding the Lee ACP! What I want to be able to do is load primers in the ACP press to 0.000 flush depth, then come back with a precision hand primer tool, to set the final depth. If I could skip manually handling the primers one at a time, it would make hand seating primers much faster. It would be great if this ability came already machined into the press. Are you listening LEE PRECISION?
    If my hardware store has a 5/16 - 32 threaded bolt and lock washer I'd choose that route and buy the tap for that. This would give more precise control over seating depth below 0.003.
    Most factory brass comes with primer pockets that are made to the minimum SAMMI spec. with that the 0.002 - 0.003 depth is optimal. Not all brass conforms to the same depth. Some people use primer pocket uniforming tools to cut the all the primer pockets to maximum SAMMI spec. This changes the optimum primer seating depth to about 0.008 - 0.009, with SR/SP pocket.

      Glad you liked the tips and hope they help. I have another APP/ACP videos coming where I show how to make it adapt for magnum calibers with a few simple parts.

    The O ring from the Lee die lock ring also fits on the upper die body & holds it in place.
    I found that out after launching mine into orbit a couple of times 🤣

    Hello John - very Impressive priming tool, from LEE no less - I see they say it can only take up to 2-2.5 inch cartridge cases - is there a way to modify this for longer cases - specifically: 338 Lapua ?

    I thought you had one of those high dollar CPS primers from Primal Rights? Did it not work out for you ? That you went with this cheaper more affordable solution from Lee?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад +4

      I was using the CPS and it’s a great unit but for me having the ability to hook up my casefeeder to the Lee was a big deciding factor for me. I’ve been really happy with the switchover and have since gotten rid of the CPS.

    Would a long action case fit even if you were single feeding? Something like 30-06 or 300prc length cases?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад +1

      I don't have either to try but I think it would be close. It says it can prime cases up to 2.5" but you'd have to do it by hand for sure on the PRC, maybe on the 30-06.

    Not sure if you are still using this to prime but Lee has an upgrade kit for the primer feed. I didnt want to post a link - ACP PRIMER FEED UPGRADE KIT Upgrade your ACP Primer Feed to the 2023+ Deluxe APP Primer Feed. SKU: 92046- Happy to see this as I have gone through 5 of the PRIMER TROUGH & TORSION SPRING -Lee send has sent these free of charge when I ordered. So I assume they knew it was an issue.

    • @SixOFord
      @SixOFord 4 месяца назад

      @FClassJohn I'm looking at the deluxe now. I may just go back to priming on my press now for the moment and see what happens. I switched off to an rcbs hand primer a couple of years ago, and it's almost like I've been chasing my tail ever since trying to stay consistent. I seated a few primers on my press last night and every one of them was .0065" below flush. .007-.009" seems to be the spot most shoot for. If it doesn't pan out I'll order tye deluxe app.

    Why would the primer hole be that deep anyway?

    • @FClassJohn
