    That's pretty fast. They also have some priming tools that mount as dies in a single stage press- RCBS Ram Priming Unit, Lee Ram Prime, and Lyman Ram Prime Priming System. The top of the die mounts a shell holder and the primer cup and ram fit in the bottom the way a shell holder normally fits. The ram presses-in the primer. I think the Lee is not adjustable. You still need to place the primers in the cup by hand. They're pretty inexpensive, between ten and thirty dollars. Changing primer size on the RCBS is easiest as no disassembly is required, just replacing one intermediate assembly with another.

    I’ve seen it on your bench and said “Ooooo what kind of primer installer is that?” And now I know. Another must have item.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  3 года назад

      Yeah that’s the one. Sadly they stopped making them last year so you have to try to find a used one. There are other priming tools on the market that will do something similar but most of them cost around $500.

    How to compare this bench mounted unit to the Primal Rights CPS?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад +1

      On the surface it’s close but the CPS is made much better and with much better materials plus is feeds from a tube and the Bald Eagle is single feed. The biggest thing is that the CPS is still made and the Bald Eagle has been retired for several years now so you can’t buy one anymore.

      Unfortunately they’ve stopped making it. My next best option to recommend is the RCBS bench primer and of course if money is no limit you could look at the CPS Primer from Primal Rights.

      @@FClassJohn Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'd love to have the CPS but geeeeeez at $600 that's insane.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  4 года назад

      Yeah it’s a good one too. I had one but don’t like the pressure on my hand with the RCbS. The Bald Eagle and Primal Rights are both much easier on your hands and wrists because of how they work.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  4 года назад

      Yes I’m aware. As I said, the RCBS bench primer is harder on my hands than the other two because of the mechanical advantage they apply vs. the RCBS.

  • @pipegang6497

    Is this one as consistent as the CPS?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад

      Over the course of any single loading session no but long term no. It’s seating stem is made from a softer metal that gets a small dent in it over time that erodes accuracy. Some people have made new pins from hardened tool steel and that fixes the problem. It’s a bit of a moot point since you can’t buy them anymore and they rarely go up for sale used.

    Where did this tool go?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  3 года назад

      It was discontinued last year. My understanding is that at its normal retail of about $159 it didn't sell well. It was only when they clearances them out at around $80 that they sold but at that price they were also losing money so they just got rid of it.
