Lyrics:
I try to discover
A little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
Why you're making me work so hard
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
And if I should falter
Would you open your arms out to me?
We can make love not war
And live at peace with our hearts
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
What religion or reason
Could drive a man to forsake his lover?
Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
You know you make me work so hard
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me

Erasure needs more respect! They are just as important and influential as Depeche Mode, New Order, and Pet Shop Boys. Vince Clarke, especially, needs to be recognized with a special lifetime achievement award for all that he's done for synthpop music and being the founder of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and Erasure.
Totally agree!!!!!!!
Too right mate!! Well spoken!!
Well actually Alison Moyet was looking for a band member. The duo formed in late 1981 after Clarke responded to an advertisement Moyet placed in a British music magazine, although the pair had known each other since their school days.
all of the above are brilliant.....could be me but as you get older the better they get....

Erasure probably one of the most underrated groups of all time. Several people have covered this track but none of them were a patch on this. Erasure are still together and selling out concepts 34 years later! A great British group to be proud of. Andy Bell was probably one of the first popstars to be openly gay and comfortable and he led the way for many others to follow. Erasure thank you for the memories and you continue to make me happy. Love always.
Well said!!! Erasure criminally underrated in so many ways. The soundtrack to my life since wonderland ❤️
Not to take anything from Andy Bell, but Elton John and David Bowie were open about their sexuality since the '70s.
@@samgod As were a lot of the early synth bands of the early 80s too,Andy tends to sing about his sexuality passionately though is probably what he means, one of the first not 'the' first.

That’s an amazing story ♥️

This song and Erasure as a band always reminds me of my school time friend, Scott Wilks.
He was in a wheelchair and we saw their concert in Milton Keynes and it allowed me to be closer than the performance than I should have been allowed to be. For this I will forever be thankful of my friend who I lost in 2016. Thinking of you Scott.
I've no idea if it was the same performance, but I saw Erasure at the Milton Keynes bowl in 1989 or 1990. I was only 17 years old or so, and went with my first girlfriend. The opener was Adamski singing Killer, and it was a hell of a concert. RIP to your friend, but you are still here to tell such tales and they will be alive as long as you remember them ;-)

I can relate to your tia I'm 59 👍
One of the most amazing songs of the 80s. The music, the voice, the vibe, the dancing, all comes together and brings back incredible memories. Love this song. Have been listening to it over 1000 times and still as if it the first time, love it and enjoy it the same. 80s truly had the best music.
Definitely agree with you. I love, love this song!!
Definitely, I prefer the 70’s music tbh. However I do like the 80’s music 😊
This song is from 90s.

Erasure is one of the greatest synth bands of all time, and severely underrated. This song is so, so good.
Este un temaiken y el insaneass de Berni lo sabe
Probably one of the greatest Erasure songs of all time. I remember when I first heard this; it was exceptional then.
The most literal video in the history of videos❤️
Erasure jsou jedineční, skvělí, úžasní❤❤❤❤❤. Nic jiného neposlouchám, miluji je ❤❤
MANGA DE REALES!
I don’t know how the music industry works but please rerelease this. Andy was amazing on I Can See Your Voice. This uplifting song is just what we all need and the lyrics are so appropriate for 2023. Proof that a good song endures forever. It sounds so fresh and contemporary.
I saw Erasure live in 1987 opening for Duran Duran. It was just the two of them, with Vince providing all the music on a giant bank of keyboards. I was dubious at first, until Andy grabbed the mic. The boy can SING, y'all.
Don't show off. Im defo going to get his guitar. 🎉❤
Listening in 2024 ??
Alguém em junho de 2024?? Ouvindo esse clássico incrível 🥰

Pretty brave of these guys to advertise their Gayness. It was a little more hidden back then.

Nobody. You're the only person to listen to music in 2020. Congratulations. You're super popular and special.
Me, and I love it!
Every Crusaders fan in Belfast is.
It's been stuck in my head for days!
I despair at so called music now.

Amazing live in concert! Such an amazing experience.. Apologies in advice but if you’d like to a listen to a story feel free.. My mother has always been a fan of Erasure. When we heard they were in Newcastle UK, they had already sold out as I was late to hear.. I felt awful not being able to get tickets as my Mum was in the middle of having radiotherapy for a brain tumour.. so as a last resort we stood outside to see if we could buy a couple of tickets. We managed to get two! We went to queue up and ecstatic we were seeing them however we were in totally different ends of the city hall. One ticket was right at the front..the other at the back. Needless to say who go the front ticket. Just before they came on my Mum called and said you’re not going to believe this.. The seat next to her at the front was free as someone was unable to go! So I managed to get to sit next to her after pleading with the steward to do so! What a night.. Mum is in remission now and still enjoying Erasure.. 😬😬😬
Nice!
☺👐🙏❤✌👋
yeah, great story!
I am so happy you were able to share this experience with your mom. Bless you both.
