- The Parry is an underrated and underutilized form of defense in fighting today. Most of the time western fighters will block or cover and simply "eat" an incoming attack. Its much safer to deflect an incoming blow than to absorb it and that's why Sifu Jason Korol - founder of Greenville Academy of Martial Arts is showing you this great training drill using the parry for defense and counter attacking with a combination.

Wow, sifu and student, this just shows what an instructor should be and the relation he has with his students, your student is sharp and fast, well done sifu jason, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR STUDENTS, please keep up the great work
I've been getting into 52 handblocks lately.
Amazing Sir
Oss!!
Respect from Pakistan
I'm a wing chun guy but I love true jkd. Please keep up the great work
Jason..I loved the video and I've now read a couple of your books. What I truly appreciate is that you are primarily promoting maneuvers and combative principles and not a "superior" stylistic application. While we all gravitate to a personal style, the principals are universal and not style specific and discipline in training and control in application have always been the variable. I look forward to the next video!
Parrying is a lost art in boxing, but even with gloves on it is still useful, you just have to get in closer using evasion tq's then parry about half way the op's arm outside his gate ,this will only slow down the momentum of the opponent and give you Time to counter!!!
This is really good jkd, which is pretty rare crazy enough.
instead of that pull the rear hand back while throwing a lead counter works amazingly
Good 4 corner work.
Thank you
Thanks for the tips.
We need subtitle for all your videoes
also green Academy I've been trying to decide which one I'm going to train with Shaolin or Wing Chun for self-defense and fighting I know both are good but like I said I don't know which one to decide I know boat work on MMA it all depends on the practitioner and how he combines the martial arts
Silum di dar.
Simultaneous attack and defense.
Lovets❤
Ever hear of Sifu Duwayne Keller from Crystal River Florida? He had 8 black belts from Bruce Lee's top students, including Ted Wong, Lamar Davis & Bob Barker. He did NOT like Danny Innosanto.
Thank you Sifu for another great drill, I will be training this with my kids tonight. The Adidas do look great too lol!
Ha! Aaron loved this comment. Lol.
But seriously, we’re super happy to help. And good for you - working with the kids is great! Nothing like making the next generation strong.
🙏
Gracias maestro por enseñansa fácil y efectiva saludos
Liked and subscribed bro😊
Thanks for subbing!!
Thank you for the video! Do you still recommend only parrying with the rear hand if you are in unmatched leads?
Parrying with the rear hand is better in that it leaves the front hand free to counter. That said, using the front to parry with isn’t “against the rules” - it’s just preferable. If you need to, use the front.
Thanks for the question.
@@JKDandWingChun Thank you for the explanation.
greats from germany super cool
Great video!
JKD with the left foot advanced?
used to have a karatetrainer that went looking for trouble to test his skills
Sounds like a poor instructor. If I may ask, what happened to him?
Thank you Sufi. Should I practice with footwork? Also should I practice with the Perry and the lead punch being simultaneous within the Jet concept? And does this fall within your teaching that there is a difference between training drills and fight tactics?
Yes- absolutely practice your footwork and parry. Get a pair of focus mitts if you can, get a partner, and practice advance and maneuver simultaneously with striking while going back and forth on offense/defense. We did this drill this morning in class. If nothing else, practice it alone while shadow-boxing.
the green Academy you can do is better and more effective and good for self-defense and fighting then Wing Chun
Right strongest side should be forward.
Except that some people are left handed. Others have an injury that makes one side, weak or not, preferable. Thanks for watching.
@@JKDandWingChun yes, but in normal circumstances the JKD philosophy dictates your strongest side should be forward. Otherwise you may as well call it Muay Thai. Be like water my friend…
Why is the student leaning backward? Is that a standard JKD stance?
☮️☯️😎
Those parries do not work in a real street fight.
Yes they do son I've done it plenty of times.
JKD…. Then orthodox stance ?!! I’m out ..
Your antipathy makes sense in a world where no one is left handed (like me)….but oh well. We really need to do a video on critical thinking and basic logic one of these days. Anyway, thanks for watching.
many talks.! be serious.!
