I think Dan Lok is one of the best martial arts instructors I have ever seen. He obviously knows JKD well and is dedicated to sharing his knowledge. Thank you for the excellent instruction. One suggestion, with respect: four letter swearing ruins the dignity of the art and the teaching. Your instruction is so outstanding that it just does not need to be brought down by crass talk. With respect... Thanks!
Hi Julisa, as a matter of fact it is possible. I'm with Sifu Dan's team, and I've been given the job of going through his fan pages to find 'the right people' that are serious about gaining his mentorship. If you're committed to learning from Sifu, I'll do my best to point you in the right direction. Please feel very welcome to PM me on Facebook: Beau Bessette
@@jarrodpelrine7229 Same goes for you my friend, please feel welcome to PM me on Facebook if you are serious about having Dan as your mentor: Beau Bessette
Incredible conversation and demonstration regarding the power behind practicing. It is obvious the force you have created with your focus, keep up the great work.
I was @ Dan Inosanto's seminar a few years ago and he stated that he had to wear a neck brace because Bruce's lop sao gave Dan a SERIOUS whiplash!!!!!!
Bruce was incredible at what he did. I think his incredible skills was a result of his basic training which he perfected to a degree where no one could follow him.
Enjoyed this segment, and chuckled a little, because in Isshinryu we do a similar grab, pull, punch, but from INSIDE the opponent's strike attempt. It would be so easy for me to translate it to your style. Love it.
Love your RUclips channel. You explain the techniques in an easy to understand way. Your understsnding of the bio mechanics and the way you demonstrate that is amazing!!
Sifu, this is INCREDIBLE instruction. I love trapping techniques and THIS I can employ easily as do fight in a Southpaw stance. Thank you for this great information. Thank you Sifu
It's great watching..I'm an old student of Guru Ted Lucay Lucay (7yrs). I sure do miss that stuff ( I'm 66yrs old now).I still got tricks though.I look forward to watching more of you. Peace my friend.
I love your training videos, thanks a lot. Only one suggestion, can you make a step-by-step videos starting from beginners level and going up in stages ?
This is similar to a Jut Sao (jerking hand) but you get a lot more power from this technique. I just wanted to ask as there is some controversy with this: people say they wouldn't use it in application as you're drawing your opponent into you - not if 'done correctly' like you are doing here. Cause you are not drawing him directly into you more just off-balancing him. Would you personally use this against someone on the street in a confrontation? Cause I would using the way you're demonstrating it. Thoughts, anyone? Thanks a lot. :)
Well it’s all about time and place for any kind of technique as you can see here if you find some one in the stance as displayed you can use it to end the fight. Although at this day & era there are a lot more methods available that are finally come out which are taught to do less damage & harm if you have the heart to learn them.
Thank you Dan. I only discovered you yesterday, as I'm new to this stage. So far you have given me more insight than any other WRT setting-up, and positivity for my eventual outcome. (love the bowling)
Very nice vid. you keep them short, but that way it´s more intense and one can learn much better. now I understand the one motion. it just made click. after all these years lol. thank you Dan, keep doing these vids, very helpful : )
That is a great video on Lap Sao. You do it the same way as sifu Carruthers teaches it. Destroying opponent's balance rather than just moving the hand out of the way. Did you get this from Ted Wong? Great channel by the way!
I did enjoy it. I wish I had the money for a wooden dummy and someone to teach me properly. Now I know why many masters became so good working with the wooden dummy. EXcellent.
Sifu...I want to know what is proper stacnce means footwork...during practicing jkd gates. I doing the same as Bruce Lee bt my teacher tell me about its badsides. So please clear me that, because my 90% knowledge of Martial Arts are from RUclips. Because in the case of learning I follow the the sentence - " Absorb what is useful and discard what is useless". So, tell me am I wrong ?
He's in a right side stance. It is kind of like footwork and learning these basic forms will do a lot of good for your balance and power. Someone in the wrong stance can be pushed over easily but in the right stance your feet will be planted and you will have much more strength.
A good thing to know is that each stance has all have a left and right side except for the Horse stance. Here are your basic stances to learn: Side stance, Cat stance, X stance, Crane stance and Arrow stance. Hung Ga Kung Fu breaks them down well
2:53 We wouldn’t typically LOP SAO a front hand action like a punch. There are many faster bridging techniques we can go to that are faster and keep us detached. Lop sao would be great when he’s committed energy in a push. We pull. But, sometimes people will fire two punches. The first one, that he’s lop saoing, isn’t the one we’re worried about. Hell just pull that one back. The cross hand is the one hell commit energy behind. Never try to catch a first action. These are basic wing chun principles
Your videos are very good. Straight forward, no bullshit, very wing chun. The movement was enlightening and helped me realize correlations in other arts that I will now implement with a better understanding. Thank you, good job.
They say with most Chi Sao drills in JKD, you must have the intention to push through your opponent. But you taught us here that a forward energy can be dealt with a Lap Sao. Is the forward force applied in JKD Chi Sao drills still good? Or should be refrained?
When giving forward energy in chi sao, you are looking for gaps in your opponent's defense. Wing Chun chi sao is about sensitivity and Jeet Kune Do exploiting weakness in structure. A good jkd teacher will show you how, they can't tell you how.
I just recently used what i learned in an actual fight in manila i had no choice and needed to defend myself. Even after 20years without practise. My body never forgot how to react. I only threw 5 attacks and used more defense, parry and deflecting my assailants attacks.

Great video.
Loved your helpers shirt!
I think if somebody has a right foot stance you should lead with your left foot so it’s more comfortable to strike.

And that’s how you dislocate somebody’s jaw and immediately end the fight.
May I know how to have that pulling power...it's quite hard to pull some one hand I'f their hand is strong.
Dan, thanks for all your videos, they are so helpful...your dedication is inspirational.
This is very informative, I’m learning Jeet Kune Do right now
If you don't mind, where are you learning jkd?

Oh god this is soo good. You are a such a good teacher
Fantastic. Yesssss Is very very good tecnic . Thankyou Mr Dan
You do it exactly we do in Wing Chun. Pull with the hip and have the individual stumble forward as you shift direction.
