  • Kirby Allison's 2nd Bespoke Suit Fitting With Sartoria Jensen. Eric Jensen conducts the second fitting of a new bespoke suit. In 2009 Eric Jensen followed his passion to learn the old world tradition of bespoke tailoring, by attending a prestigious school under a celebrated Italian maestro, Luigi Gallo. Eric graduated from Maestro Gallo's school, receiving his Master Tailor certificate, and he spent 4 additional years as an apprentice to tailor Chris Despos in Chicago.
    Now located at Stefano Bemer 475 Park Ave in New York City, Eric is one of the last American-based tailors to carry on the bespoke tradition. He continues the art of tailoring in it's purest form, hand-drafting each client’s unique body pattern and molding canvas to the specific shapes and curves of the body. At least 30,000 strategically placed hand stitches go into the making of each suit.

    Nice long format video. I love how organic this is and how details and "mistakes" are shown and discussed.
    Tailor seems very nice too, i like how he's able to articulate what he thinks and say no when he feels he should.

    I always find it so interesting to learn more about the process of the creation of a bespoke suit. Your work deserves much praise Kirby for showcasing such talented tailors like Mr Jensen. I'm very excited to think that soon I'll be attending the same tailoring school in Rome where Mr Jensen learnt the craft, and hopefully one day I'll be making garments as beautifully as he does.

      Good morning James,
      Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about working with Maestro Gallo. You can find my email on my website or through Instagram. All the luck. And be in touch. I might be able to use you when you finish.
      Best,
      Eric Jensen

    I found it quite a brave yet challenging move to share your baste fitting experience on a youtube video. I have 20+ years of experience ordering suits from different tailors. Communications with every single one of them were different in order to get what you ask for. They didn't know you and your preference in the first or second commission, even if you use the same language to talk to all of them, because the cutters didn't do the sewing by themselves. They have to communicate what you told them to seamstresses in the workrooms and your instructions somehow lost in translation no matter what. Different cutters from different tailoring shops receive and understand your instructions differently no matter what.

    Great videos, Kirby. That jacket looks great on you. I would like him to make me a suit. I like how open he is to the gorge being a tad lower, and I also like his 9-10 on the lapels. Being in NY, I'm sure he is very expensive, but it's worth it. I'm definitely going to get a full bespoke by Joe Hemrajani after watching that fitting video you posted mainly because of his prices. He will be coming to LA in October.

    It is okay for Kirby Allison to have two types of trousers, one with wider hems at the bottom and what he is wearing during the fitting. ("2nd thoughts trousers" with bespoke suits) The Guardsman's slant is a good hem with a slight break is a good option.

    • @tailorshands7049
      @tailorshands7049 5 лет назад +1

      It's an interesting cloth, I pulled out a bit of scrap to give you a pantone, however, noticed upon closer examination its a bit of a melange. It has a deep dark grey primary yarn with white and grey fibers spun in which gives it a depth of field and the high twist makes it look more light than it really is and depending on the light looks darker or lighter. If you average out the colour, its very close to Gutermann thread colour 542, if that means anything to you. It's a nice cloth with a good hand. And should last longer than Kirby himself.

    • @hqrlock
      @hqrlock 2 года назад

      1. Sprezzatura
      2. It's much more important to have the longer part sit at the right place, even if that comes at the cost of having the small one hang lower.
      The solution is to shorten the tie or do bigger nods.

    • @Sydanion

      Maria das Santos yes, made to measure is mostly adjusting existing templates whereas in bespoke everything is specific for one individual client

      Made to measure can be nice, too. While they are not as individual to the client as commentater Blub Blaa pointed out, they are still nice and require less fittings. There is an upside and downside to everything I suppose.
