One thing to look out for on Mimakis, along with the print head, is the rollers. Mimaki uses 3 to 7 individual rollers that are movable back & forth. If these rollers are concaved, it could mean that the prints won't track right and contour cuts will be off...sometime as much as 1/4" over 48" travel (yep, mine does this). It also indicates that the springs on the rollers are weak and will need replaced. and on the CJV series, that's a pain in the butt, but changing rollers is easy unfortunately that doesn't fix the tracking issue. So, make sure to check the rollers, also the grip rollers because these get gummed up and the bearings stick.
@@TheSignGuyhe buddy glad to see your videos how long did you have your printer before it failed you? Also what is your Normal “OutGas” weight before laminating again?
Hey DON!! 5 1/2 years before the head failed, not bad IMO. My normal outgas time depended on the ink saturation and the media I was using. Deep, dark colors like Black, Blue, Reds at a 720 X 720 (+) output I would generally let them sit overnight (8-12 hours). 720x540 not as much ink was put down so as little as 30 min up to a few hours before lamination and contour cut.
Not specifically a latex or HP or another printer, for now... I'm subbing the prints out for the time being but it pains me to know what is costs vs. what I'm paying....

Ever thought about getting a HP Latex? I've been using latex for over 15yrs and really like them.

@TheSignGuy you can get a HP Latex 560 for about $6k - $8k used. If you want the newest model it's like $20K
