    This is one of the rare cases that get put on RUclips where the whole thing is actually legally pretty interesting. I mean, we all love Judge Simpson laying down the law, but seeing him in problem-solving mode is also amazing. And it's also pretty respectable that he is dealing with this complicated situation in a way that's far more reasonable and fair than the title of this video (sorry, I know algorithm's gotta algorithm, but it's not as clear cut as the title makes it out to be). That lecture towards BOTH at the end was just a magnificent oration.

    Section 8 housing requires that everyone who lives in household who’s over the age of 18 has to be listed on the contract. All incomes have to be considered. Rent is based on that but since daughter is not working the only income is the mother. The mother is primary on the lease.

      Agreed, to some extent. I may be 22 and live at home but I’m in school, I have not one but two jobs, and most importantly I don’t have my own kid (I do have a cat but I’m quite positive my parents love him more than they love me). I do think he’s right about the difficulties in communication between parents and their young adult children, but some of that is still on her.

    • @tjf9586
      @tjf9586 24 дня назад +1

      You’re correct, I’m 22 living in my own home paying my own bills. This is a fucking joke lmao, my parents had me encouraged to have a full time job at 18 and encouraged me even more to get my own home at 20. That’s completely normal parent behavior, this was hard to watch. I’d request a new judge if possible in this case because this is truly pathetic.

      It can be that but it's also common for young people to go through phases of reflexive rebellion where they just want to defy everything authority figures try to make them do.
      For the most part they will grow out of it, but while it's happening it's hard to tell if it's a phase or their character

    • @spiritquests2714
      @spiritquests2714 21 день назад

      Nope. With social media, people's development is stunted by 5 years. She's acting like an unmanageable 17 yr old, doesn't grow up, Mom's been putting up with it for at least 5 years. My daughter didn't grow out of it until 28. My son...23 but he doesn't really use social media. Social media has really stunted multiple generations.

    • @Stimm002
      @Stimm002 21 день назад

      @spiritquests2714 then don't let them on social media... that still falls under parenting. I don't have any issues with my 3. Everything your kids do or say under 18 is your responsibility as a parent. I know plenty of people with adult kids that turned out just fine, regardless of social status due to good parenting. I also know bad ones due to bad parenting. As a parent everything with your children in their formative years is our doing.

If she isn't at least keeping the house clean and making a hot meal for her mom's dinner, she's as much work for mom as she was when she was 6. Time for the kid to accept the responsibilities of adulthood by doing the chores until she gets a job and can afford her own place. Also, no more babies she can't afford. Birth control works but you have to use it. Mom and daughter need to draw up a plan to help the kid transition to self-sufficiency within the next 12 to 18 months

    Listening. It's an awesome skill, and the earlier you learn it, the better off you will be. I stuttered as a child, so I barely spoke because of it, but I did listen, and I listened a lot. This skill of listening eventually allowed me to train myself NOT to stutter, but that's a different comment. Trust me on this. When someone is speaking, and you 100% FOCUS on what they are saying and what they mean, the world will open up to you in ways you can not imagine.

    I moved out of my Dad's house shortly after I graduated from High School. I moved in with my Grandmom. I got a job and asked her how much for rent. She only charged me $50 a month. It was only for the summer and just slept and showered there occasionally. I also paid for the phone and gave her stuff here and there. I've had to live with her several times over the years and always paid a reasonable amount of rent. When I was 19 and about to get financial assistance to continue my education, my dad said I should help her out with money. I got a job that afternoon and never started school. I have zero regrets about my decision. The kicker is that my Dad, Uncle and their women; all were sitting on their asses!

Once it's taken from the mom, she will not get it back. Why does this judge not understand that the daughters entitlement is causing the mother to LOSE HER HOUSING and break the law. I love the words from the judge, but no. Can't ask granny to think of little Lance 'cause then mommy is going to use him for emotional coercion.
    Entitled annoying mommy needs to stop blaming others for her dumb avoidable mistakes and get a freaking job to support her life and her child.

    This should have been handled by a mediator, not an expensive court. Or is this the way it's done in the US?

    Insane that she is treating her mother like that.
    Also, the 22 year old excuse is complete baloney. By the time I was 22 I was fully independent and had deployed to the middle east once. Most 22 year olds arent a drain to society.

    Petty momma vs daughter drama . Mom probably jealous of the daughter tbh , women like men get jealous of younger women.

    The mother is *standing up* while speaking to the judge. The daughter is *sitting down* swaying back and forth in her chair while speaking to the judge. 🤔

    Oh, she's open to seeing a therapist is she? Anything *but* getting a job to help pay for rent. It's not her Mothers problem that she got pregnant by a loser who left (or she left it really doesn't matter). She should be chasing him up for child support but I guess that would mean she would have to get off her a-- and do something. Pathetic little girl.

    The only reason judge didnt just automatically side with the mom is because of the grand child. If he sided with mom, grand child is out on the streets and most likely cps will get involved. . Hes hoping they figure it out themselves before he has to make that decision...

    No job and a baby in tow, living with her Mom and she doesn't pay any of the big bills but "I buy the soap"...with what...your allowance?
    I actually believe the Mother in that she probably is abused. The way she is so nervous in that courtroom I really felt sorry for her. I hope by some miracle they work things out.

    Is there a Part II for this? Would love to see what happens when this pair come back to court.
    I thought the Judge would ask the 22 year old why she doesn't have a job and what is she doing with her life. The Mother's 'back to her daughter' stance just tells you she is done with her. And her daughter is disrespectful in sooooo many ways. She didn't even stand up while addressing the Judge. That told me a lot.
    *BUT* I also wonder if the Mother has raised this brat with no discipline and never saying *NO* to her. Perhaps that's why she is such a spoiled, disrespectful daughter. Now the Mom comes to court and wants the Judge to clean up the mess she made raising this young lady.

    It sucks since she’s in the lease the judge can’t really order her to be kicked out. Luckily the lease ends in February. Hope her mom gets her own place.

    In all truth, that voucher probably wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the fact that, on paper, they are a 3 person household with a young child and only 1 income listed.
    So Momma might lose her discounted ride if she follows through with kicking the daughter out. 🤷🏻‍♀️
