I love the fact that she purposefully makes mistakes so she can show you how to fix them in real time? That's so much more helpful than just saying 'this could happen and you should do this'. She give explanations for her decisions and shows different tools/supplies in use. As someone watching this for the first time, I feel I've actually learned something, which is kinda amazing.
Donna is my new hero. This video shows that she's been doing this for YEARS! Her techniques are perfection. She's also great at explaining instructions. What a crafty human!
Starting a new hobby at 68, thanks to a great rummage sale find; a tote box full ofglass, tools and an Inland grinder; all for $2.00!!! I do envy her steady hands, though!!
What a ridiculously good lesson! I already feel like I could make an amazing panel now despite never touching any of the equipment in my life 😁. Thanks for the great instructions, what a master!
Ok Donna is amazing!!! I’ve watched A LOT of glass videos, this is by far the most I have learned in the shortest amount of time. She went over things no other video I’ve seen has. Thank you Donna!
What a master she is!!! I came to see how glass mosaics are done, and found out that is way too difficult. Donna makes it look so easy, but it's not only difficult, it's dangerous and risky at the same time; although beautiful. In her hands she makes it a piece of fine art . Thank you.
If you build your house by doing this, you could run into some serious challenges. The corners of the walls particularly, where the solder will run down and solidify on the floor instead of hardening at the corners.
It is not hard to do, or hard to learn. There is even a "dummies" book written by a master that you can learn so much from. I bought all my glass at this place before spectrum closed and prices skyrocketed. Owner and employees are kind and helpful.
I'm making a stained glass picture frame for my wife's birthday. I know it won't be as easy as you make it look, but I sure learned alot from your video! Thank you very much for posting it, you're a true expert at your craft.
Second time I've watched this over a long period of time. I enjoy watching her teach this because she's so clear, organized, and has a wonderful voice. I wonder how many times I'll have to watch before I get up the nerve to try it myself!
Adding to the chorus - after seeing a bunch of "hobbyist" videos it is really amazing to watch a master at work. She has the steady hands and cool head to be a heart surgeon!
I have learned more useful techniques and hints in this 25 minute video than I have taking hours and hours of classes. Well done, concise and amazingly simple because the instructor understands the perspective of the novice.
My husband and I are new to stain glass so we are watching binge watching youtube videos. You win the youtube soldering prize! Your technique is amazing!
You know how you know ..you have made a fantastic instructional video? When the viewer....thats me learnig....is afraid to take his eyes off of all the wonderful procedures.. You are fantastic...... And I am Greatful..Thank.You.
:)...You do such beautiful work! You make it look easy...As a tradesman for 30 plus years, I know it's your years of practice that make you so good...I'm retiring, now, I've repaired giant stained glass windows in churches, here in philly, but; I would just get a piece of plexiglass and paint it, rough in the shape and caulk it. On a 25 to 40 foot wide unit. you'd never see it; but it's better than a hole...:)...Thanks for the tips on how to do it right!
What a talent! A remarkable skill and a valuable demonstration for everyone interested in getting started! Thanks so much for this superb contribution!
I had several pieces of stained glass that needed repair and was looking for someone that could tell me how to do the basics so I could repair them. Needless to say, after watching this video I am hooked. She makes it look so easy and it is exactly that IF have the correct tools. I got a good Weller Solder Iron and 50/50 solder and the rest is history!! Thank you so much for your video.
My grandfather did this after he retired. I have his pieces all over the house. He made everything from candy dishes to mirrors and even chandeliers. I would like to do this too. It would definitely teach patience-for sure.
I like Donna very much. She is quick, professional and to the point. Some instructors in videos, speak to you at half speed, and it gets frusturating. Thanks Donna !
I want to thank you for your very informative video. I recently pick stained glass again after 20 years break. I still had all my equipment grinder, tools and lots of glass scraps (as everyone knows it collects). You showed a clip on cutting a deep curve by making the one main cut and then a little smaller cut etc. Well, I tried it today and boom it cut beautifully. I am watching many videos from various artists and pick up from each one. Thank you for your professionalism and ease of instruction and the tip. Good day. Joey - Brandon Florida
A very good demonstration. I am getting interested in this craft and it has been very helpful to watch your video. Thank you, you do a wonderful job with your work and your experience shows. 👍👍👍👏👏🙂
I don't know how I got here as I have never had any interest in this but it is very obvious that this lady is an absolute master at this craft and a wonderful teacher. She just gives me a sense that she is a very kind and knowledgeable person.
For years, I've been wondering how stained glass projects were made until i saw and watched your video. now, i know how. Thank you. You're a good teacher. Wish you're here and have a workshop for people who are interested to learn more. Please take good care of your hands ( coz i'm afraid it might cut you). Again, thank you. More power to you and your company.
Watching this so I can add mini windows to an architecture design module. (I’m still learning and just doing it for fun, so no time limit). This was helpful, thank you! The vocabulary makes a lot more sense with my metalworking background, lol. Thanks!
This is a terrific overview of panel making from start to finish. The pace of the video is just right and the steps are organized so that a novice can understand the project. Nice intro to a workshop or studio class. Thank you.
This woman is a teacher, you can absolutely tell. She was absolutely aware of things you might wonder and solved the doubts while she worked. That is empathizing with your students or public. I hope more people would explain so neatly 😊! The only question I have is how do you apply the black patina on the solder lines, what product is it?
I know this was made a while ago, I had to say though I enjoyed watching what was made. I used to work soldering in a factory and had to do nice straight lines, so I would maybe be ok with that.....but glass scares me silly lol. I had a bad experience as a kid and many scars later I’m scared of it! It’s the one thing I’ve always wanted to do though, I have done every sort of craft there is, apart from this. Thank you for showing how it can be done.
Wow! Excellent video! First one I’ve seen on doing this stuff and I feel so amped and ready to start learning more! Very great at explaining the reasons behind the “why you do it this way” instead of just leaving us hanging. Thank you so much!
Thanks very much, I am working on panels and beginning to design patterns of my own. I appreciate your precise explanation. I look forward to seeing future updates
This is fascinating! What a beautiful art! I've never attempted any of this, but I know the most difficult for me would be snapping the chunks of glass off. I cringed every time she snapped it confidently.
My compliments, I stayed interested the entire video and it was very educational. Normally on one of these, every time the narrator opened her mouth the vid cut away to a close-up selfie of herself instead of what she was doing... you didn't. You showed what I was interested about and did it well and knowledgeably. THUMBS UP
Thanks I've enjoyed the video. I thought I knew glass cutting, but this video has brought something in me, art and craft! Another business to think about.......
Very useful video. I did a stained glass workshop a couple of weeks ago. Our teacher wasn't a fan of foil. Looking at this video I really can't see why. I think when you're soldering lead combes you've more chance of bumps. when you look at foil work, there's much more of a chance of getting a nice, clean run in your solder. Plus it suits me, 'cos I'm more used to soldering copper than lead!
Phil tutz...You can get smooth soldered joints with lead work almost equally so..And the copper foiling methed require a lot more of a precise glass cut edge,as the have to 'butt' up against each other..That's perhaps why some lead workers don't like copper foiling...(it's lead 'came' by the way..)..It is a good tutorial though..
I think I've watched this video at least 5 times already and each time I learned something new, another reason I like you videos so much is because I'm left handed and can duplicate your moves in my head easier, thank you for taking the time to make things easier for us newbies.
Wow, Donna, I'm totally amazed! How do you work with all that glass and not get cut without gloves? Also, how did you just run a straight line down the green glass in the beginning without any straight edge? More, More More! I'm going to your supply page:) Thanks for sharing your super skills. Strong teacher, outstanding demonstration.
For the straight line, it's in the shoulder. Put your pen down on the paper, then instead of moving your fingers or wrist or even elbow, move your shoulder in one swift mouvement. Don't look at your pen tip, look where you want your line to end. And practice and do warms up!
Very informative! I'd assumed there'd be H-shaped lead or something that the glass fitted into, but nope! Also, that glass cutting. Making it look so easy really highlights experience and skill right there.
I did a simulated Stained glass using a clear non-colored glass and cutting many plastic colored sheets into my desired patterns placed on the clear glass. From far, it looks just like a regular stained glass artwork.
have you used the stained glass paints yet? its pretty neat, i restored an old oak shutter which had stained glass panels with no color so i used the paint to color each little panel, it turned out really cool, but now of course i want to do the real thing :)
Just had a dream I was crafting a beautiful piece of stained glass that was changing its form constantly. It was like a cubist seaweed depiction. I felt good doing it. It must be a sign to try and make it
Great job Donna.....I've been doing copper foil for over 10 years now,and still going...great video's for beginners..I've been buying your supplies for years now,but I'm really sad to know they don't manufacture glue chip anymore, but I'm glad I bought a bunch before they stopped, but I use it sparingly now..thanks for keeping this hobby alive.
Great tutorial!! You walked through the processes quickly and proficiently!! You explained the nuances without being too gabby or opinionated!! You explained and defined terms... GREAT AND AWESOME VIDEO!!! I learned a lot!
That's an amazing beginner's tutorial. It's the first video I've seen on how to make stained glass and I feel very confident in beginning now! My only regret is that I think all the videos I watch after this aren't going to be as good!
Thank you for that wonderful presentation. You are a great teacher. I listen to a lot of instructional videos; you have that undefinable gift of demeanor that makes you fun to listen to. Thank you again.
Excellent tutorial! I very much appreciate you sharing your expertise with us. I haven’t done this since high school. Well into my 40’s now I have a huge desire to take this up again. Many thanks!
Couldn't have said it better
I know nothing about stained glass construction but I get the distinct feeling here that we are watching a master at work.
SAME HERE
This lady knows what she is doing. Years of work. Excellent, obvious MASTER of your trade.
E Beaulieu she makes it look easy!
E Beaulieu I haven’t been doing that long and I’m 10,I know exactly what I am doing
@@nikadanelle9658 Well, he did pay her a compliment. It's not like he referred to her as "this broad," lol!
You lucky bugger . whoa
Welp. yer a teenager again ...
I'm starting to learn this skill at 73 and just love this tutorial.
Never an age limit on making the world a little more beautiful
Oh wow! Lucky lucky lucky!!!!! That's amazing!
I hope you're enjoying your endeavor!
She's so quick, you can tell she's had plenty of practice. I wish my soldering looked that neat! Beautiful work!
Isn't technology great when you can get an education online? This is one such case!
Thank you Donna for sharing your expertise!
7yrs later and this is still the best class on stained glass I’ve seen 👍😄 Thank you
It is 3am and I can't sleep and somehow I ended up on this video and I am now obsessed with stain glass making. Donna, you are a master at your craft.
What a master she is!!! I came to see how glass mosaics are done, and found out that is way too difficult. Donna makes it look so easy, but it's not only difficult, it's dangerous and risky at the same time; although beautiful. In her hands she makes it a piece of fine art . Thank you.
The speed and skill is incredible.. she makes it look so easy, the sign of a true craftsman!
Is this as easy as she makes it look or is she just brilliant? I have a fantasy of building my own house and doing this!

Wow she is amazing at soldering! Only a true dedicated person could ever reach that kind of mastered abilities.
Second time I've watched this over a long period of time. I enjoy watching her teach this because she's so clear, organized, and has a wonderful voice. I wonder how many times I'll have to watch before I get up the nerve to try it myself!

Donna is the best. She really makes you feel comfortable working with glass, I must buy this stuff to start.
My husband and I are new to stain glass so we are watching binge watching youtube videos. You win the youtube soldering prize! Your technique is amazing!
Wow, she makes it look so easy on braking those curves without damaging the rest of the piece.
This was mesmerising to watch. Thank you for sharing your wonderful skills!

Great demo especially appreciate showing mistakes and explainig how to correct.
I'm simply stunned. Donna is clearly a master stained glass worker/artist and I'd love to see her at work on a bigger project
I like Donna very much. She is quick, professional and to the point. Some instructors in videos, speak to you at half speed, and it gets frusturating. Thanks Donna !
You’re awesome, Donna! Thank you for sharing your expertise. Such a beautiful skill!

Golden hands... What a skilled nice lady! Much thanks Mrs Donna.
Strip cutter a great tool ♥️great teacher
I inherited a whole bunch of glass,...now to look for supplies and give it a whirl !!

Pure genius...Practically a basic master-class. Thank you.
Im so glad i watched this video! Watching you just SNAP that glass apart with your hands! So much faster and easier than how i was doing it! Thanks!
Very nice video to watch, she makes it look so easy, that's experience for yah👏
Amazing teacher! Thank you

Really enjoyed watching a master at work with such clear instruction, nice one Donna. I feel inspired to try some of this for myself.
Nice to see an eloquent craftsman at work.
I have learned so much from watching you do this. Your experience shows, you make it look almost effortless. Thank you!
I like that she isn’t looking fir attention and just providing solid helpful information. Refreshing.
You madame, are an absolute master. You made this look incredibly easy (I know it's not). Very clear and precise tutorial! Thank you.
What a wonderful instructor.
Donna no longer works there. After 25 plus years new owner let her go back in 2017. Still uses the video though.

a generous explaining for every step!!! thank u so much . 🙏🏻
No nonsense, clear. Thanks
Great instructions and results. A pleasure to watch and learn even for the uninitiated like myself. Now to find the supplies...
Thank you for such a clear and helpful tutorial! Absolutely loved this video

That look so much fun and relaxing.
Very interesting. Well taught. Another of information for beginners like myself. Thankyou so much Donna.
You are a beast with that soldering wand! Excellent craftsmanship. You make it look so easy. Thank you for this video.
Just realized I am logged into my son’s gmail. He’s batman, not I. I was slaughtered in an alley while clutching my pearls.
Great tutorial!!
You walked through the processes quickly and proficiently!!
You explained the nuances without being too gabby or opinionated!!
You explained and defined terms...
GREAT AND AWESOME VIDEO!!! I learned a lot!
