- No. 1 UConn plays No. 8 Syracuse in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
Three Huskies players scored at least 17 points, topped by star freshman Paige Bueckers with 20. Connecticut rolled to an 83-47 win and now heads to the Sweet 16 for the 27th season in a row.

This is definitely UConn’s best game offensively
Uconn has shown they can adapt their offense to find the holes in their opponents defense. Plenty of first quarters that 'seem' close, but then the Huskies pick it apart and with consistent defense they find their groove. If the defense gives them good looks inside the paint.. then Uconn's bigs go to work. If they drop down to pack the paint, a few mid-range shots off screens or the odd 3pt shot does the damage. Looking forward to the next round.. hope both teams are full strength, healthy, hungry and put their best games forward.
Paige Bueckers, I love her playing.
She's amazing. I couldn't hang with her in my prime. The women are so much better than 10 years ago.

Paige Bueckers's game reminds me of the great 4x WNBA champion and Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper's game. The drive and dribble with stop and pop style are very similar.

We're gonna get to see Paige vs Caitlyn later today. People are saying Caitlyn is better bc she got freshman of the year bc her stats are so good. We're gonna find out how she does against the UConn D.
I think the only reason caitlyn looks better is because she’s basically the only threat on her team. UConn has multiple threats bueckers, edwards, Nelson -ododa and Williams. I personally am looking at it as UConn vs Iowa. Because Caitlin and Paige are actually good friends off the court and don’t like to putted against each other.
UCONN will definitely need defense for Iowa, everyone on Iowa just shoot, and if they can’t get in to paint they will take shots for 5ft behind the arc. It’s going to be a good game either way, both Catlin and Paige are top players and good friends. Uconn had 4 players in double digits, they are dominant as a team, Iowa had 3 players in double digits, and Kentucky stuffed their points in the 2nd half. It will be hard for Iowa to score from more than 2 players. But we will all find out. Good luck to both teams.
@Tom Storm you’re right, they make essential shots, I don’t think any other team has a better consistency. Many don’t see that percentage. Capitalizing on rebounds will also be a big help for UCONN, they will need to use their height as an advantage.
While UConn does indeed need a solid defense against Iowa, Iowa also needs to defend since the last time I checked, they're dead last in defense rank in the country.

@@queenredfromthequeencity She plays disruptive defense outside the arc. You don't get to see too much of it in the highlight videos, but if you watch the full games, you can see her impact.
@@dumbunny8128 my point was I never see her the opposing team's best player especially since UConn plays modified zone. I've see her play a lot if help defense, so I was wondering if you knew something from her high school days.

@@am1lee Not considering for the moment the fact that Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark are the best of friends, Paige Bueckers is going to utterly dominate this particular matchup. UConn's defense will shut Iowa down. We will all know who is the best freshman in all of women's college basketball after this game.
@@Sternentier 😂 UCONN is a much better team, their crushing team defense which is anchored by Olivia, Evina and Christyn will likely beat Iowa. But if Paige didn’t dominate the lousy Syracuse zone defense (5-13 shooting, 4 points in second half), she probably won’t dominate Iowa or Clark since Christyn always guards the best guard of the opposition as she’s quicker and stronger than Paige. Stop Clark UCONN wins. But remember what Dungee and Arkansas did? 😂

That could've been the case they only had 7 available players and 2 of those players played the whole game in the first round.

As a uconn fan i dont understand why paige and other starters are in the game when they are up 30 points with 4 minutes left in the game???? So they can risk injury? Does it.matter if we win by 37 or 26 points its still a blow out and if she gets hurt there goes a championship because you wanted to win by another 9 points or so.
I hate Uconn, but it's not that I hate them I'm just tired of them winning. I always liked Tenn. and Pat Summit. (RIP). I guess I don't like men coaching women in the power sports unless it was the same the other way around.
Huh? this makes no sense. You hate UConn because they win all the time but loved Pat Summits' Lady Vol's cause they were coached by a woman. Some of these women coaches are rough around the edges to be kind!

I lived in LA for a long time and used to get corporate tickets to the Showtime Lakers. I never rooted for the Lakers. I guess Southern California isn't the nicest place. In fact it's the most racist city I've ever been too. I loved individual Lakers, and I loved Chic ( announcer/play by play). Take pity on me--I'm a Knick and Jet fan. Loyalty.

The Spurs had a woman WNBA star coaching for one or 2 years but that's an anomaly. I appreciate UCONN, they're great but...didn't you see the training facilities disparity at the NCAA?
