Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed my Feb 2020 Isopod collection tour! Don't forget to comment "ISOPOD OWNER" followed by the species you keep if you are a fellow isopod keeper and I'll
I'm a new isopod keeper! I currently have: Armadillidium vulgare "Georgia Mix" Porcellionides pruinosis "Oreo Crumble" Porcellionides pruinosis "Red Koi" With a few more on the way! I love these little guys! Thanks for sharing your amazing collection! I've been binging all of your isopod collection updates from throughout the years and it's so cool seeing so many different types!
Isopod keeper here! I have native isopod cultures collected from my yard.I have dedicated bins for: P.scaber P.scaber wild calico (yellow, sandy, reds) Oniscus asellus A.nasatum A.vulgare Philoscia muscorum My first (very recent) purchased culture is P.scaber whiteout morph.
I've got native collected armadillium (must have been introduced because they are not native as far as I know) in a terrarium with some more buddies from my garden-- a darkling beetle I raised from a wiggly mealworm and one garden snail. And I was gifted a half a dozen Dairy Cows about 6 months ago. There are now countless moo cows in their terrarium. They cannot stop boom-chica-wow-wowing. I had planned to put a snail in with them this spring but they are RAVENOUS!
Isopod keeper! We keep ours in a large vivarium with millipedes. It's fun to watch them interact, forage and explore. We have Zebras isopods & some locals from the back yard. The millis are flat back & Ivory. Thank you for your video, your collection is amazing!
I only got into isopods about a year ago and am taking it slow. Only have dairy cow, dwarf white, and powder orange at the moment! Also in Ontario however 🤟🏻
I'm just getting into ispods (started off with a 12ct of Panda Kings as part of my first attempt at a bioactive back in November) and now have them and some Dairy Cows and intend to get more. Had no idea I'd end up loving these little guys outside of them being a clean up crew, but here I am making plans on buying *many* more and setting up several new enclosures once I move. Love your videos on these guys, and the way you talk about each species and how you care for them.
Isopod keeper here!! I just recently got into collecting isopods and plan to expand eventually but I currently have cultures of Armadillium Granulatem, Porcellio Laevis and Porcellio Ornatus (splurged a bit for those ones) 👍🏻☺️
So i got O. asellus i mostly use these for bioactiv bins and T. ratzeburgii, P. scaber, A. opacum i just keep for the heck of it. Might be the moment to mention the isopod videos have been the reason i subbed a good while ago all the diff content is pretty great too for an example i never heard about satanic leaftails before and damn they are stunning so thanks for sharing your excitement and knowledge about animals!

Isopod keeper! I currently have p laevis, a klugii, a vulgare (orange vigor, magic potion, gold dust, common and wild caught), p pruinosus, a maculatum and picking up rubber duckies tomorrow. Armadillidium isos are my favorite of the bunch

ISOPOD OWNER, but only: Porcellio laevis, Armadillo officinalis and a few undetermined ones I found in my apartment. Thanks for the info; I always thought my officinalis had molting issues when I saw them with half of their body in a lighter color than the other. I have spotted babies in their enclosure for the first time (I have not had them for so long so far). Do I need to take special care in order to make them all survive?
Isopod owner as well! Currently keeping: Trichorhina tomentosa Porcellionides pruinosus Armadillidium klugii "Montenegro" A native Danish species I believe to be a beautifully patterned variation of Oniscus asellus And a culture I bought as "Giant orange" which is either Porcellio scaber or Porcellio leavis. Still need to figure out which. Thanks a lot for the video, it was super inspiring!
New Isopod Keeper Here! Species: I. Porcellio scaber (grey) there's actually two bins on is where they were originally housed, alongside some millipedes, the other bin are scaber that I moved there they were sitting in the hide so they could breed with out interruption. The millipedes haven't been doing as well as the isopods. Only one millipede is left so it'll be a isopod enclosure. II. Porcellio Scaber (calico) they just started appearing with the greys, wait for more to appear before I move them to their own enclosure. III. Trichorhina Tomentosa Planned Species: I. Armadillidium Maculatum II. Porcellio Dilatatus III. Porcellio Montenegro The weather here in Phoenix seems to be doing them well. Their all from Peter C. at Bugs in Cyberspace, all thriving.
I’m an isopod keeper! I only have 5 small cultures at the moment. I just have powder orange, powder blue, dairy cows, Dalmatians, and I just collected a few from my garden to start a native culture! I love my P. laevis dairy cows!
Isopod owner! I’m a 10 year old who just found some in my backyard. No idea what the but I they’re plain grey. And guess what? I live in Toronto Ontario! Keep up the good work. New sub!
Just started keeping isopods!! The idea is to feed my tarantulas with them and keep them as pets, they are so cool!! I've started with P. laevis 'dairy cow'.
Nice collection! I have: P. Scaber party mix Porcellionides pruinosus-powder orange Porcellionides floria (my culture has whitish and lighter colored ones popping up I love these and think they are underrated) Armadillidium klugii Montenegro Armadillidium maculatum Porcellio laevis “dairy cow”
Wow, stridulating isopod, and gorgeous aqua blue on them, beautiful! Im in Australia, and invert keeping and knowledge is in its infancy here, so i only have a handful of common species. :-)
I see soil mites in some of the shots. I have these too in like all of my enclosures. I think they’re ok but they seem to outcompete springtails. Do you know if they’re just decomposers or are they bad?
ISOPODS! P. pruinosus orange powder P. scaber A. maculatum zebra P. laevis orange giant P. laevis dairy cow, these two I've been experimenting with these to confirm if really they cannot cross... I have a lot of babies and I'm really hyped about wether there will be some ORANGE COWS :D
ISOPOD OWNER ! Porcellio laevis (dairy cow + orange) Porcellio magnificus Porcellio scaber (wild morph + dalmatian) Porcellio dilatatus Oniscus asellus (two wild morphs !) Porcellionides pruinosus (orange) Armadillidium vulgare (wild morph + albinos) Armadillidium peraccae I love P. werneri, but it is not easy to find in France! Thank you for these exciting videos :)
I have 12 (?) different isopods I love them & a few month back I got a couple zebras & recently ordered more! I’m going to check on them this weekend... I love isopods
Tarantula keeper and aspiring isopod keeper from Hamburg, Germany. Thanks a million for your inspiring videos, I have a much better idea of isopod keeping thanks to you. I'll go for two beginner species, but haven't quite made up my mind yet. 😅
Love my isopods! ❤ I keep Armadillidium gestroi, Armadillidium maculatum ’Zebra’ and Armadillidium maculatum ’Yellow’ plus Armadillidium hoffmanseggi and Porcellio laevis ’Dairy cow’. Trying to find a new home for my ’Dairy cows’ though. They breed way too fast. Would love a new isopod tour!
I just started keeping isopods, and so far I only have the ones from my back yard. They look like Porcellio Dilatatus (Grand Canyon) but I'm not positive of the species, only positive that they are adorable. :-)
Isopod owner newbie armadillidium klugii montenegro We have dwarf whites on order too. When they've bred sufficiently, some will be given jobs in our newly set up vivarium, which will house dart frogs later this year. Videos like yours are making it hard for me not to spend all day on eBay buying more and more, but we'll wait to see if they thrive first.
i have zebras and powder blue and orange for my dart frog vivarium crew and trying tem in a bioactive leopard gecko setup as well but breed them as well. Also dwarf whites only in the dart tank now.
Iso owner! I have too many species to list. I'm curious, why no leaf litter in your cultures? Thanks for all you do and for all your great and informative videos!
I normally keep leaves in all my cultures (I actually have a video where I add leaves to the cultures) but I wanted you guys to see them well before refilling the enclosures with leaves :).
I looooooove Isopods!!! I just have a small bioactive tropical terrarium with tropical woodlice and I think they ate the cutest little white dirt bunnies ever!
Isopod keeper for about 8 entire days now :-). I have "Isopod Porcellio laevis "Dairy Cow" and "Isopod Porcellio ornatus "Yellow" in a Biorb terrarium with orchids, different kinds of moss, grass and some wood chippings. Only seen 1 laevis so far, the Ornatus is very active, constantly see 4 or 5 crawling around and eating.
I am an isopod owner and live in Michigan. I have Porcellio Laevis Dairy Cow, Porcellio Laevis Wild Type, Pocelionnides Pruinosus Powder Orange, and Trichorhine Tomentosa Dwarf White. I started in the fall of 2019, and am looking to increase my collection as I go.
Where do you source your isopod cultures from? I'm not sure how many invert and reptile shows are gonna happen any time soon, given our current circumstances
on 13:40 i have those too and they went well they need to be kept in 27 degrees i heard but all of a sudden everything died of too =[ i still dont get it i feel like it could be that they need diffrent kinds of leaves oh no its the p expancis
I keep quite a few species. I had a recent mite problem, which only affect my zebras for some reason. They completely cover the isopods. Any idea on how to get rid of them?
Bill Smith thanks for watching! Cutting back on food helps a lot. If the notes are thriving there’s leftover food for them to eat. Cut it back to the sweet spot where your animals are fed enough and mites aren’t fed at all :)
@@Reptiliatus thank you! Ill try rationing out the food. Also i used repti calcium to cover them and dry out the mites a few times which worked. Kinda like diatomaceous earth. A few dustings and dryer conditions in the cage did the trick. Only thing is the mites are present in other enclosures. For some reason they only attach parasiticly to the zebras. Its odd
Why are they so expensive? I can go out and grab a handful of them from the yard. I don't really understand the fascination for a bunch of bugs. But to each their own! And this guy is so passionate about them, it makes me smile.
Just started a Dairy Cow culture out of 10 I have about 50 now and they breed non stop idk what I’m going to do lol. So many babies!! Oh question mine aren’t white but more clear. Is that normal? I really wanted them white.
I just got into isopods, i have dwarf whites as my cleanup crew with springtails because i have more tarantulas then anything but i have collected some from outside and i dont know the exact breed but i have a culture of just outside isopods in a container alone and then i have a culture of dwarf whites and a culture of springtails and those are for my Bioactive tarantula enclosures. I ENJOY ALL YOUR POSTS BRO.......
So I'm a preschool teacher and I wanted to get my kids some Isopods as classroom pets. Any advice for some cool looking but not too expensive Isopods that are pretty easy to care for?
That's a wonderful idea! For sure! I'd recommend Porcellio Scaber, Porcellio laevis (dairy cow). They are super hardy and what I would say are arguably the easiest isopods in the world to keep! :)
I keep isopods I just got some I got Procillio Hoffmanseggi and Orange Leaves Isopods. One day I hope to see your collection in person because I also live in Ontario
ISOPOD OWNER Dairy cows , orange vigors, Montenegros clown . Dwarf whites , tropical ., I'm trying to get my hands on Duckies and magic potions.. your collection is awesome man !!
I got mine from my patio, trying to divide them by color cause I am a noob, but this video will help. Also I wanted to ask, I have seen a springtail which looks like the black springtail, but out of the gold plating it takes out wings, but it doesn't fly, they jump.
I keep isopods! I'm new to the hobby but so far I have oniscus asellus "mardi gras" which have begun breeding! Also, I am hopeing to get porcellio hoffmanseggi!
Reaaaallly want to become a isopod keeper, though I haven’t found a Canadian site that sells cubaris, especially the ones with yellow and look like bees. Sad sad! Hopefully will see them during the Canadian pet expo maybe?
It’s possible! If you don’t keep isopods yet I would strongly recommend working your way up to those with some experience keeping easier species since those types of Cubaris are rather delicate and very expensive. Thanks for watching!
I'm not really an isopod keeper(yet). I have one species in my bio-active enclosure for my Carpet Python, and I'm not sure what it is. I'm starting to think it would be interesting to have more variation. Could you recommend multiple species that I could keep together in my snake's enclosure? The species I have is fairly small and greyish. I would like to get larger ones. Thanks.
I"m getting ready to start farming isopods, this is only my secound video i've watch so i can learn how to set them up. I live in New Brunswick amd i'll be starting with the ones i can find that lines locally. My wife anf i own a pet shop so this will end up being for sale as pets or feeders and we always donates free animals to local schools, some they keep for class pets and others comes back to the store after project, so we will be able to add these to there list as for the kind we have here, i'm still trying to find that out

Daisy for the dairy cow.
NERDPORN! You know I love my isopods!
I keep Dairy Cows 🐮..working on isolating an all-white/high-white colony soon
Awesome! Hope it goes great!
I keep the small Texas whites? I hope you can reply with the Latin name. I would of never got them if it wasn’t for your first isopod vids.
Just bought Porcellio laevis "orange" as my first "proper" isopod. In my Mantis Terarium I have Trichorhina tomentosa too.
Awesome!
Which ones do you think are best for tropical vivariums, or maybe which ones do you think are worst?
I'd like to have a species of a decent size that's active, that I can watch go about their business lol
Very nice isopods video yes i have zerba isopods so yes isopods keeper😉😉
Awesome! Thanks for sharing/watching!
Isopod keeper! About 6 species
Can planting spider plant in Armadillo officinalis terrarium. They can eat the spider plante?

Fantastic! Thanks very much! ☺️🙏🏼
I got mine from my patio, trying to divide them by color cause I am a noob, but this video will help. Also I wanted to ask, I have seen a springtail which looks like the black springtail, but out of the gold plating it takes out wings, but it doesn't fly, they jump.
I am starting my isopod collection
Isopod keeper lots lol🤟🏻💋
Me, I do have some now, thanks to you, I had to get some. Grey P scaber.
I've always wanted to be an isopod keeper... I think stumbling across this video is a sign.
Do it! 😎🎉
I keep isopods!
I'm new to the hobby but so far I have
oniscus asellus "mardi gras" which have begun breeding!
Also, I am hopeing to get porcellio hoffmanseggi!
Isopods they are virtually harmless?
Reaaaallly want to become a isopod keeper, though I haven’t found a Canadian site that sells cubaris, especially the ones with yellow and look like bees. Sad sad! Hopefully will see them during the Canadian pet expo maybe?
It’s possible! If you don’t keep isopods yet I would strongly recommend working your way up to those with some experience keeping easier species since those types of Cubaris are rather delicate and very expensive. Thanks for watching!
Reptiliatus Thank you so much for replying!!!! It’s just my partners only think the Cubaris are cute:( shame on him!

Trop bien !
Merci beaucoup! 😊🙏
Isopod keeper!!
I only keep one kind right now but I dont know what
Wonderful!
At the moment, I only have porcellionides pruinosus, and trichorhina tomentosa, I'm going to get more in the future.
Thanks.
thanks for watching! You could keep Porcellio scaber and Arnadillidium vulgare together :).
Isopod keeper
Just the ones I get in the backyard here in TX.
i have a few isopods and centipedes :) they are so cute
I"m getting ready to start farming isopods, this is only my secound video i've watch so i can learn how to set them up. I live in New Brunswick amd i'll be starting with the ones i can find that lines locally. My wife anf i own a pet shop so this will end up being for sale as pets or feeders and we always donates free animals to local schools, some they keep for class pets and others comes back to the store after project, so we will be able to add these to there list
as for the kind we have here, i'm still trying to find that out
