For some reason this reminded me of finding Nemo when there were too many eggs to feasibly name and Marlin wanted to just name half of them Marlin Jr. 😂
Nice isopods.i have 7 colonies and I had them for a month now. I just love them. The only isopods that we both have that are similar to yours are the powder blues and cubaris murina. I can agree that the cubaris are really cool. It’s cool that there are so many species. Thanks so much for sharing and I’m glad I discovered you guys. Take care n I hope to see more videos of isopods soon. Peace
I love the zebras! I added about 10 to a terrarium a year or so ago and have pretty much completely ignored them since. The plants went crazy and took up every square inch of the 20 gallon long aquarium and the population of isopods exploded. I can barely see into the tank because of the plants, but I do see little zebras roaming around. They're excellent little climbers. Luckily I have the lid sealed pretty well.
Okay this was such a good video! Loved the editing and the clips you got of each colony! I would like to submit the name suggestions Emma Jr. and Josh Jr. (y'know, like the quote from Finding Nemo: "We'll call this half Marlin Jr., and this half Coral Jr.! Okay, we're done!" But name one single isopod Nemo.
I'm basic and have been obsessed with the Dairy cow isopods. I just bought a starter colony almost a week ago and had babies two days after I set them up! I'm excited to watch them get big and establish.
I love when you find the perfect pieces of cork park for isopods. I found an amazing piece a few weeks ago for my dairy cows and they spend most of their time in the cervices. Thanks for the isopod love.
Also you turn the Morningwood into jerky so species that are used to eating hardwood will except it, they don’t always except it as soft gel or powder :)
Lol I'm gonna be honest. I had a bug phobia from as far back as I could remember until I was like 15, and they still make my skin crawl when I look at them. When I was 13, I got my first pet who ate worms, which was easier to deal with cause they were frozen worms and my axolotl was pretty good at cleaning all the food out of her water. And then when I turned 14 I got an african fat tailed gecko who ate crickets and meal worms because I really wanted one, and I wanted it enough to try and get over my phobia. It took me like a year to finally be able to feed her without my dad lol, and even then, and now for my other geckos, I don't touch them. I'm 17 now and I can't even imagine touching bugs so care free like you two do lol. I admire it.
They are all so cute!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I have three breeds, Armadillidium vulgare gem mix, porcellionides pruinosus party mix, and cubaris murina 💕💕 those are all my personal pets but I also have micro whites in my dart frog vivarium :)
I loved mine! They were awesome! Unfortunately my room got really cold and I lost them but I’m going to get the albino ones in spring and I can’t wait!
Just watching this in 2024 from Europe and feel the need to say that the Canary Islands are a group of islands belonging to Spain, in the Atlantic off the west coast of Africa. There isn’t a single ‘Canary Island’. Anyway, I love your isopod collection here! I hope you’re still doing what you love, whatever that is, 4 years later! 😊
This was so awesome 👏 lol I’ve been wanting to get some for my leopard geckos bio active enclosure but joss frogs and the bio dude were both out of them :(
What happens if you overfeed your rolies? I just got a few myself and set up a couple terrariums for them. I’ve been feeding them chia seeds, mushrooms, oatmeal and apples. Thank you and very nice collection you have, I hope your boyfriend proposes to you.
Were y'all ever able to get your spiky canare colony to take off? I purchased 25 of them and I'm struggling with them. I never see any, but the food I put in disappears so I assume they're still alive.
Yes!! They’re slow to breed but once they started our colony really took off! It took us months to see any babies, but now we probably have at least 100 of them!
I have almost a dozen springtail cultures and no Isopods. Somehow my isopod colonies crashed and the springtails took over. I definitely did something wrong. I will try again "wild isopods" I will not be using them for any of my enclosures, I am only going to practice,u isopod care skills. I do have isopods in my crested Gecko enclosures, but since the cresties are better at Isopod care, they belong there,
You can but I would only use the softer bodied ones Like the powder blues, personally I see isopods as pets and can’t imagine usung them as feeders but to each his own I guess
They all have different behaviors and personalities, some let you hold them while some don’t, some look really pretty while some look really cute, they are also have different levels of activity where are some species will stay still most of the time whereas others are always running around and also just all the differences in color and patterns! honestly it’s very hard to just pick one favorite
You should do a species specific video with isopods. Like Sheldon Cooper had his show FUN WITH FLAGS on the Big Bang Theory but with isopods. So every time you get a new species of isopods do a feature video on them and tell us where they may come from and all about them. 👍🏼
Arid clean up crews are hard. You can use super worms for a basic additive. There are also certain species of beetle that will do well in arid setups. You can use isopods if you keep a moist spot under the water bowl or utilize a humid hide.
This was unexpectedly fascinating.
In the best way, you guys look like the cutest nerd couple
I agree
Agree
Agreed
Josh:
Everyone else:
Emma: I think this needs a bit more water
But was I wrong tho
Love the uniqueness of the different zebra isopods!
Yes! It’s awesome!
do they all have names if so what are they
You must’ve not watched until the end 😤
tarantula kat 😂😂💀💀
For some reason this reminded me of finding Nemo when there were too many eggs to feasibly name and Marlin wanted to just name half of them Marlin Jr. 😂
You are such an amazing person keep up the great work. Good luck on 💯 k

Haha we have the same isopods :) except I also have gem mix and party mix

Emma: I feel like this could use one more scoop of water, me: 1 million scoops of water later!!;)
Okay this was such a good video! Loved the editing and the clips you got of each colony!

Dairy cows are the best! I have them and they have a ton of babies! I had three litters of babies born on a single day once ❤️
Zebra isopods are definitely my favorite!!! I definitely love them! They are so pretty!
They are!! I am getting them soon and I’m so excited
I really liked this video! Josh is great, would be nice to see more videos of you both showing animals/educating :)
Thank you for sharing. I really like the cubaris.
Eyy zebra isopods are my favourite too! Good pick
Why is every skinny white guy I see named josh (Im joking, don't come for me)
I love when you find the perfect pieces of cork park for isopods. I found an amazing piece a few weeks ago for my dairy cows and they spend most of their time in the cervices. Thanks for the isopod love.
I enjoyed watching the whole video i love the zerba isopods I have some of those
Also you turn the Morningwood into jerky so species that are used to eating hardwood will except it, they don’t always except it as soft gel or powder :)

You guys look like such a great couple!!!
I love the zebra isopods. They are so cool looking
Who would have ever imagined raising bugga boos for the love of dragons!!
I really liked the zebra ones, I grew up in BC and we called the ones we found wood bugs
I love isopods so much! I really want to start some colonies soon!
Also in Nova Scotia and just started a common woodlouse enclosure very recently! It's amazing to see how far you've come in such a short time
That’s awesome! They’ve bred super fast for me and super easy to care for :)
They are all so cute!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I have three breeds, Armadillidium vulgare gem mix, porcellionides pruinosus party mix, and cubaris murina 💕💕 those are all my personal pets but I also have micro whites in my dart frog vivarium :)
I'm getting their shared isopods can't wait to see them in action!
I loved mine! They were awesome! Unfortunately my room got really cold and I lost them but I’m going to get the albino ones in spring and I can’t wait!
The dairy cow ones are my favorite!
Love your vids thanks for the great vids
please do more videos on isopods!
The little chocolate zebra needs to be named Malteser, Malt for short when he's feeling fancy

I still want to call them rolly-pollies
Great video guys.
I really enjoyed this video! I think buttons would be a cute name for them😂
"Its called morning wood!" Lol I'm dying
He looks like a stick insect or ant
Dairy cow, powder blue, and orange. I had them for my hermit crabs.
I want the rubber ducky isopods😍🦆
Loving the vids
Can you have a bioactive terrarium for your gecko using only isopods?? Or will springtails need to be added as well?? 🤔
Great video!
Giant canyon isopods are dope
Yes!
This was so awesome 👏 lol I’ve been wanting to get some for my leopard geckos bio active enclosure but joss frogs and the bio dude were both out of them :(
I own some ivory millipedes I was looking to add a good cleaning crew.
Spring tails & orange Isopoeds
Where did you guys get your clear containers?
What happens if you overfeed your rolies? I just got a few myself and set up a couple terrariums for them. I’ve been feeding them chia seeds, mushrooms, oatmeal and apples. Thank you and very nice collection you have, I hope your boyfriend proposes to you.
What size container are your isopods kept in
Most people keep them in a 6 quart, I personally keep all mine in 16 quarts however
I love isopods omg lol
Those aren't Porcellio Scaber Orange, theyre Porcellio Laevis Orange 😊❤
Were y'all ever able to get your spiky canare colony to take off? I purchased 25 of them and I'm struggling with them. I never see any, but the food I put in disappears so I assume they're still alive.
Yes!! They’re slow to breed but once they started our colony really took off! It took us months to see any babies, but now we probably have at least 100 of them!
How did you choose to get adults only for breeding? I thought it was randomized.
Hey i have two isopods that are breeding i just got them do you have any tips? and also do isopods eat their babies?
How do set up Bioactive for some reptiles
Does the morning wood stinks as bad as the superhorn? 🤢
So are the brown ones slaters?(woodlouse)
How often are you feeding your colonies
You and your boyfriend are so cute!
Is these can survive underwater?
The brown one should be captain dookiedots
Zebras, Spikeys, Dairy Cows
I'm the only one who thought about some morning wood jokes?
I have almost a dozen springtail cultures and no Isopods. Somehow my isopod colonies crashed and the springtails took over. I definitely did something wrong. I will try again "wild isopods" I will not be using them for any of my enclosures, I am only going to practice,u isopod care skills.
I do have isopods in my crested Gecko enclosures, but since the cresties are better at Isopod care, they belong there,
Can you use isopods as feeders? (not as a main source of food obviously)
Yes! Many reptiles enjoy snacking on them :)
You can but I would only use the softer bodied ones Like the powder blues, personally I see isopods as pets and can’t imagine usung them as feeders but to each his own I guess
What is the advantage of having multiple species? Do they do different things?
They all have different behaviors and personalities, some let you hold them while some don’t, some look really pretty while some look really cute, they are also have different levels of activity where are some species will stay still most of the time whereas others are always running around and also just all the differences in color and patterns! honestly it’s very hard to just pick one favorite
Early❤
I'm a dirty cheater. I like rubber duckies and magic potions though.
What isopods are in Chaos’s cage
Dwarf white isopods and zebra isopods
Emma Lynne Sampson thank you
You guys really NEED to buy an electric kettle
Do you breed your insect feeder? Would love to see a video on how to care for them if you do.
Not normally! I usually just buy them. I did a video a while back though showing how I cared for them!
So I've never had a pet ever.
Lucky 🍀 guy .
are they pets or food for your reptiles?
Carissa Dolezal mostly pets. However, the reptiles occasionally eat them
They can be either!
You should do a species specific video with isopods. Like Sheldon Cooper had his show FUN WITH FLAGS on the Big Bang Theory but with isopods. So every time you get a new species of isopods do a feature video on them and tell us where they may come from and all about them. 👍🏼
Dan
What clean up crew do you recommend to put in the reptile’s enclosure that requires an arid set up?
Nyleve D I was wondering the same thing
Unfortunately I don’t have much experience with arid bioactive enclosures so I’m not too sure!
Arid clean up crews are hard. You can use super worms for a basic additive. There are also certain species of beetle that will do well in arid setups. You can use isopods if you keep a moist spot under the water bowl or utilize a humid hide.
@@JackOliver1997 thanks, I’ll look into it
Beatles from meal worms or super worms
Excuse my childish giggles at repashys food name choice💀
Totally didn’t laugh at this 👍🏼
Wow. You are so cute and that guy is a major league fort. Sad.
F
She’s so obviously vexed he’s smarter than her😂
So are isopods like roly polys? Are the common ones roly polys? WHAT ARE ROLY POLYS?!
Roly poly is just a common name for isopods!
I saw toes at 12:12 lol
Christian Castillo lmao
There woodlouses that's disgusting
ok boomer NOT TRUE
I just lost my clown isopods 😥
