    Thanks so much for watching everyone! As promised- for me, the most peculiar/unusual thing I've found my isopods enjoy eating is dried kelp! I cut it into little bits and they seem to really like it! Here's a link: amzn.to/3aQDnre
    Don't forget to share what your pods like in the comment section down below!

    I love all your long videos. I enjoy every single video you have. You're very informative and you explain things in a way that even people that aren't familiar with these subjects could understand. Right now I only have four different types of isopods I use them in my snaking closures as of course clean up crew but I really want to make enclosures just to show isopods off. I just love these little guys. and I'm definitely jealous of some of the types you have. 😍😍🙂

    Thank you for sharing your experience. Your advice helps us to better care for our own growing collection of critters.
    In response to the inquiry about diet, I find that cucumber, fish flakes, and fresh spinach disappear the fastest in my isopod cultures. My Dubia Roaches have the same favorites. I give them a salad of sweet potato, apple, carrot, spinach, and sometimes squash. I place the proteins- like fish flakes or dried shrimp- in the driest areas where the cuddle bone is located so it keeps better until eaten. Several tropical fish foods claim to be “color-enhancing” - especially those for Betas. If it is a valid claim, I thought this could be a beneficial, (and experimental), addition to the diet of our more color-rich Isopods- like clowns or oranges. Regardless of whether it has helped enrich the color of our pets, they simply love carrying away bits of beta flakes and it quickly disappears!
    I like the impressive list of ingredients in Repashy products and have used several Repashy products to gut load feeder insects. I haven’t used with my isopods yet, but might.
    I cure my own leaf litter and magnolia pods are a huge favorite. Sometimes the pods with my powder orange isopods are so popular they end up looking like Creamsicles!
    Again, thank you for your informative and family-friendly videos!

      @@Reptiliatus I find invertebrates quite intresting. I was looking into some species of isopods, but I think some of the more nice species, is also quite expensive. I found a company located in germany (I live in denmark), which sells lots of different species of invertebrates. Then I found a millipede species (Spirostreptus spec. 1 “Tanzania”) that was very inexpensive. I've been wanting millipedes for a while, so very impulsive, I ordered 5 of those, just now.

    Separating isopod variations and breeding them sounds absolutely great, but then again anything you upload is great. When is your new animal coming? Also I have to mention, here in south africa porcellio Laevis has naturalised and the wild ones come in a crap load of colours: white, reddish, brown, orange, grey, yellowish, its weird.

    how do you get started with isopods? most i've seen for sale are really expensive! which species do you recommend to start and where can i get them?

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  4 года назад +1

      I'd recommend searching for isopods for sale wherever you are from and go from there. I'd recommend dairy cow isopods (Porcellio laevis) as good beginner pods.

      It may have been crushed by a heavy piece of wood or the others may have interfered with it during shedding. As long as it's an isolated incident and this doesn't happen normally I think it's ok? But I doubt the little fellas can survive for long after sustaining an injury like that

    Isopods are interesting. Some species really look like tiny trilobites, cute. You are probably one of the people with most isopods at home. I don't think it is unusual, but I think it is cute that they like fish food. When I give mine some fish flakes, they take one flake, walk some steps back and eat it in some corner then. Can one feed isopods cheese, or is it unhealthy? And what about old bread, maybe with a drop of honey on it? (I am thinking this because roaches like it.) And by the way, what is the maximum age a single isopod can reach?

    • @British_Bastard
      @British_Bastard 3 года назад

      Old bread should be fine, if it’s mouldy the springtails will eat it

    So, an extremely odd thing, but i was cutting up some mealworms, and accidentally took off some callous, wich dropped into the enclosure, and i later saw a large Dairy cow munching on it
    My guess is for calcium/salt
