This is inspiring. I have salty isopods (I'm a reefer), but my son sparked my interest in terrestrial isopods recently. We're going to practice with some guys from the yard before trying some other species. I can see this becoming a full blown addiction and taking up space in my fish room...

Hi! I have a short story to tell you. I became interested in invertebrates a couple of years ago and started by having spiders as pets. One day I found a woodlouse spider and started feeding her with isopods from my garden. I looked for care videos of this spider on RUclips, but instead found your firsts videos about your isopod collection. Now, few months later I have like ten enclosures of isopods that I have found only in my backyard. I don’t offer the spider my isopods anymore... 😉 I really enjoyed your video, although I had to watch in parts.
Truly inspired, I’ve loved isopods since I was kid ripping bark off the trees to see them scurry away haha. Gotta get some of these, truly some gems in ur collection. Those zebras WOW

Thanks for this great video!!! My kids were so freaked out when I pulled earthworms, baby centipedes & isopods out from under a cut log in our yard yesterday here in the Pacific Northwest. As soon as they saw they were harmless and pretty cute crawling around on my fingers they got much less scared, happy to show them examples of isopods besides the grey ones that live here in Western Washington. 🏞️

It was so lovely to see how gentle you were with that springtail. I got my isopods for a bio active build but now i don't want to risk them getting eaten. Soooo they are my pets now:) Thank you for the care videos they help a lot
Im not sure the species but in a classroom tank with scorpions and local isopods our isopods outweighed the scorpions at some point and decided to start eating the smaller scorpions alive. We found them half hollowed out and couldnt figure out what was happening. Luckily the biggest survived.
I watched the whole thing while working and it was a really nice and chill time with isopods. Thanks for making the video and for all of the time stamps in the description! Your dedication is appreciated!
I love your videos. Please make more and make them often. I'm sharing them onto my group Hobby Insect and Education and we love the care you provide for your insects, the close-ups and the care you show for them. Thank you.

I have barred tiger salamanders and since the dairy cows are protein driven I am kind of worried about them biting at my Sals when they are buried for a long time
Wonderful! I don't recommend keeping anything larger than dwarf whites or N. cristatus with amphibians. P. scaber and P. laevis are very aggressive and capable of attacking them.
I've seen a number of videos like this where people use containers with holes drilled along the top edge for ventilation. I've also seen most people recommend springtails as companions for the isopods, but since the springtails are so much smaller, isn't there a large risk of them escaping from the ventilation holes in these setups?
Hey! Was wondering for Porcellio Werneri how moist is the enclosure? Some say they like a more dry environment with ventilation while yours seems to have a more moist environment WITH a lot of ventilation. Any tips? Also have you used high calcium cricket diet as a staple before?
Maybe some of the problems that you have with certain species is that you don't have enough of them because maybe they are too expensive a piece or something. Isopods look very social. They hang out together. I'm sure they are happier when they surrounded by a of their congenital cousins, they are the funniest.
Isopods brains have only 4 components; that being said it doesn’t have room for “social interactions.”Therefore they run over there selves and show no awareness, thus not needing to be interactive. They are not humans, nor are they mammals. Rarely any other animals show IN NEED of interactions, thus making your hypothesis irrelevant.
at 57:30 - did you ever determine if they were scaber orange dalmations? I have a brand new (to me) colony and these look the same. The original owner said they were powder blue crosses, but after putting them in Discord the consensus is they're orange dalmations. If so, what kind of luck, if any, did you have crossing them with others? Thank you! brand new to the hobby here.
Whoa, holy work editing this Dion! “As you can see, right off the bat” Nope... they is camouflaged dood, I see nada! Lol Seriously though, you can’t tell me you remember each types Latin /scientific name by heart! Can you?!
Merci! It’s peat moss, some sand, horticultural charcoal (not much) to help drainage and purify the soil of toxins, spaghnum moss, black earth, coco chunks or orchid bark topped with lots of leaf litter! Hope this helps!
He said it is not necessary to watch it all so i will watch it all

You should make a fast care video to each species, just about 5 min

Maybe some of the problems that you have with certain species is that you don't have enough of them because maybe they are too expensive a piece or something. Isopods look very social. They hang out together. I'm sure they are happier when they surrounded by a of their congenital cousins, they are the funniest.
Thank you for the suggestion. Definitely something worth considering!
Thank you! brand new to the hobby here.
how do you get so many types that aren't widely sold?

Hey I'm French and I love this video,
what's in the soil mix ?
Merci! It’s peat moss, some sand, horticultural charcoal (not much) to help drainage and purify the soil of toxins, spaghnum moss, black earth, coco chunks or orchid bark topped with lots of leaf litter! Hope this helps!
@@Reptiliatus yeah thanks for this help, this is soil mix incredible,
Does it work for all species even arid species ?
