    My grandma always just put apples and fried pork jowls in it. In our family we used jowls in replace of bacon.

    I have the same red pot that you have. To make it white inside again, I fill the pot with hot water and bleach, and let it soak until white. Comes out very clean!

    I remember staying with a German family for several weeks back during a high school trip to Germany and the family made red cabbage. I remember at the time I found it absolutely terrible but I recently bought a jar of canned German red cabbage prepared with apples and tried it again and found I like it much more now. Might need to try making it at home one day. Thanks.

    The cabbage looks so good. We have to celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday this year so we decided to have rouladen, purple cabbage and potatoes. Perfect timing for your recipe!!

    This will go well with the slow braised beef shanks I just started. I like that the beef shanks or short ribs contain much collagen and marrow bone to yield an unctuous beefy broth much like a demi-glace without as much work...do you have any German style recipes for beef shanks?

    you have a nice channel. i still use grape jelly when in the states as my Mom does, out of habit from limited selection first time my family moved stateside, but not the last. never heard of rotkohl with lard, perhaps because our version is on the sweet side.

    Have to wait a week for this? Ahhh! Ok I’ll attempt it again. I improvise as I go! Would love your input! Anyone’s!
    Usually I’ll add:
    Red cabbage
    A couple apples (sweeter ones peeled and chopped)
    Olive oil
    Salt
    Brown sugar (like a tbsp)

    Ace added butter, vinegar, lemon juice.., but I just can’t get it quite like Oma. Excited to watch!

      My very first video on this channel is for red cabbage … i made a new one for quality reasons, premiering on the 20th but you can still watch the old video. I think it’s what you are searching for. But it might also be the version of red cabbage that will be available on Saturday.

      @MyGermanRecipes  7 месяцев назад +1

      What? No. You don't have to download anything. Just click the link and then there is a website that has the recipe. You can look at it or print it. You can switch between metric and customary quantities. This way it is accessible and usable for anyone, whether they are watching from the US, Canada, Australia or any other place on earth. There is no download, it's just a click.
