I’m in awe finding this Waitrose cooks recipe. It’s not complicated or over the top. It’s perfect!! I shopped at my local Waitrose early this morning. found a lovely red cabbage, a couple of cooking apples and red wine vinegar. All set for tomorrow cheers 🥂 everyone
Thanks for another great video. Just wanted to suggest to you to not put the orange border in your thumbnails. It looks quite similar to when RUclips puts a red border on the thumbnail to show users that they’ve already watched the video. I’ve skipped a few of your new videos because at first because I thought I had watched them already.
Not gonna lie, I appreciate the video, think the lady presents well too, but confused how adding something acidic helps prevent something from breaking down.
Sugar? That’s just about ruinous if you’re diabetic, and adds an unnecessary, unhealthy element to an otherwise healthy, delicious vegetable. Just leave it out. Tastes just as good.
Such DETAILED Instructions are precisely what Dopes like me,- there are plenty of us, need. Great job, Waitrose.
Love it!! You’re right I’m one of the plenty!
That needed this lovely uncomplicated recipe

@@alfredsuhrbier4166 Was it from Waitrose? I’ve got one here from Lidl. 😬
3:47 - "nobody wants mushy cabbage at the end of the day" and proceeds to cook it for one hour until it turns into a fine mush 🤣
Excellent presentation with very clear instructions and information on why use each ingredient. Off we go now...
Wonderful recipe. The best I have ever cooked. Thank you so very much
This is the most addictive and enjoyable cabbage dish ever!
Great video, trying this tonight. Thank you for posting
thank you, well explained and easy to follow!
Thanks for the recipe, happy Christmas.
I lived in Hedgesville WV for 3 years. Lovely friendly people for the most part
Delicious 😋
I use Juniper Berries and a pinch of cloves, and it is delicious.
❤
Thank you never knew how to cook this
Looks yummy nice sharing

What could I sub the red currant jelly with? Not available in my country. Thank you.
Any jelly...
@@DjayTriple8 Of course you can't use any jelly. Red currant jelly is a sauce/condiment you have with poultry.
I’ve added cranberry sauce I have and I was happy with it!
@@jessicaexplores A good alternative.
I didn't have any jelly, so I tried lime marmalade and we all loved it. Thanks for this recipe
My red cabbage is so bitter. Would cooking it make it not bitter?
Could you please give a suggestion of an alternative to the vinegar. I cannot do vinegar. Thank you.
why not?
@@darkheartlightsoul The only foodstuff I simply cannot bare. Makes my skin crawl and retch from the very bottom of my colon.
Perhaps red wine as an alternative. Lots of people can't bare vinegar of any sort. My husband is one!!
I'm making this!!
Let us know how you get on! Happy cooking! Courtney
Do you have the receipt?
Thank you Waitrose for this informative video.
I’ll get all the ingredients at M&S
What can you substitute for red currant jelly? In the US.
If you're in the US then grape jelly makes a great alternative! Happy cooking!
What kind of apple is a cooking apple?
Hi, in this case, we've used a Bramley apple. ^Alan
What spice?
All Spice

Hi everyone please try replacing the sugar with fresh figs❤❤❤
Hate apple and sugar in red cabbage. My mom was definitely from the part of Germany that didn't eat sweet red cabbage.
Imagine I cannot even find cooking apples from Waitrose for online delivery!
Apple is not always in braised red cabbage?? not in my book!
leave it to cook for an hour on medium-low heat? lmao
needs at least 3 more apples ... the recipe calls for 1 KILO of apples, not jut 1 apple...

Sugar is used in a lot of onion related dishes.. if you ever eat caramelized onions.. anything pickled... etc it has sugar.
Braised red Cabbage is a sweet and sour dish needs sugar. You can decide how much to put in
Agreed- the dish needs zero sugar
Or...move on
This is the dishes point if you don’t like it don’t watch it or move on or leave it out
