  • Having this same issue? Comment below, let me know what year and model car you have?
    Before purchasing my 2012 G37, I had never owned a car with satellite radio. After purchasing the car, I had notice the satellite reception would cut out, randomly and in wide open areas like open highways/streets. I gave this product a try in hopes that it would at least improve signal drop outs and I am happy to report that it has. It is not perfect as I still get some signal loss but it is nowhere near as frequent as it was before. Hope this helps. Please note that if you have navigation + bose than you will have to tap into either the back of the radio or take apart the interior rear driver panel. Protip! and sorry I left this out of the video: Adding a metal plate under this new antenna will help further improve reception. Something like this will do: www.homedepot.com/p/Steel-City-4-in-Square-Metal-Electrical-Box-Flat-Cover-52C1-50R/205124442
    If you have Nav + Bose you will have to tap into either the back of the radio or take apart the interior rear driver panel. If you need more information, you could find good information here: www.myg37.com/forums/audio-video-and-electronics/294610-xm-antenna.html

      Did you end up adding the metal plate? Did you even need it or was the antenna alone enough?
      Also, how would you suggest placing the metal plate w antenna on top of it so they dont slide around when taking turns?
      Thanks.

    • @Miamig37
      @Miamig37  4 года назад +2

      Yes, I did add the plate. The antenna has a strong magnet on the bottom of it so it was easy to attach the metal plate to it. The plate did not fly around much but just in case you could zip tie it to the car seat anchors that I noticed on the rear deck. The reception has improved but I still get some signal loss, just not as frequent as before and not as long.

      Can I remove the old antenna and replace it with the new one? It looks like the cover in the ceiling could be popped off, the antenna cover possibly removed and the new one installed there. The cable could then be fished under the headliner and then into the trunk.

    Very helpful. I have a 2012 G37x sedan. Asked the local stereo shop to upgrade the antennae. After making an appt and dropping it off they said they couldn't do it. Ugh. I knew there had to be a way. Looking forward to trying this. Getting sick of paying for something I can barely listen to.

    I have only owned Sirius external radios and they have strength meters. I know of 2 areas that lose all of the signals. I used to travel the LA freeway on top of the rest of the roads. Nothing over every day or night. I used to run the cable for the magnetic antenna on the roof of the 1994 Toyota Celica GT. Another case where in Tucson driving in the far right lane exit to the southbound I 19 freeway. Same Sirius-type radio with the meter. The Signal died for about 10 seconds at 60 mph. The antenna was on the roof bolted down (home use unit) and cable down through the roof and across the headliner and down the door jam. and to the Sirius receiver in the front of the console. A lot of black silicone kept the weather out. I used cooking oil to keep it sticking to my finger. A rag was handy.

    Finally fixed is right! Can't believe how easy this was after driving my 2012 G37 for years with such crappy satellite reception. Hey Infiniti, how about a recall just to replace a component that is not customer friendly? The pink fakra plug is the one I had to use-to match the one in the car's trunk. The curry is not comaptible with the stock pink connector. Thanks to Miami?g37 for this helpful video. Years ago, if I remember correctly, the dealer quoted me somewhere around $400 to replace a crap component that the manufacturer used. Probably my first and last Infiniti......

Its loaded with luxury options and they all work great EXCEPT the satellite radio SUCKS SO BAD it makes me nuts. No obstructions and no obvious reason for the horrible reception on XM. AM/FM work fine. In fact, I started listening to regular radio again because of the unreliable signal reception. Is it as simple as a new antenna or some kind of booster? I hope so.

    • @Miamig37
      @Miamig37  4 года назад

      Someone here asked if they have nav is it the same antenna and I said no based on a diagram I read that shows the nav antenna under the dash, but not the satellite antenna. So are you saying if you have both nav and Bose, both use an antenna behind the center stack?

      @@Miamig37 From the service manual the pink plug inserts to the back of the head unit in the dash.
