I get the feeling you were being very generous in your comments of the local folks who "stopped and said hi" and "politely informed you it was private property". (and then waited to see you out)
A friend and I backpacked Shawnee back in the mid 90's. It was 4th of July weekend and it was HOT! We had 3 water sources in the ~20 mile loop. It was pretty brutal.
Love this video, SINCE my wife and I live in South Eastern Ohio (Hocking HIlls). I really need to get down this way. Headed to Tar Hollow for New Years Eve Camping. You never disapoint on your videos.
Good to see Allen and Nancy again. In the late 60s I was in the tower while it was still used the River best Steaks and baked potato thanks Happy Holidays
I’ve learned that over the past year not all jeep trips have to have challenge. Love that area on the gold wing. Lots to twisty roads! Thanks for the video
i live 10 minutes from from that copperhead fire watch tower and little bear lake I wish ODNR would open up the many service access trail scattered through out the Shawnee area but the horse camps and horse trails take precedence over everything around here unfortunately. I hope one day with the growth of overlanding that they can open up these areas and trails to all.
Holy smokers batman! lol, always fun to take a day to explore. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get 😁 Merry Christmas, y'all!
Somebody got a new drone---- I saw the shadow up the stairs. You're really getting into that footage. Lol. I'm with you brother. I'm trying too on my little channel jeepNdirt, but I just can't take time off work all the time to make videos, but you guys give great inspiration. Thanks so much.
Good video! We spend a lot of time over in that part of the state during hunting season. We usually hear a few off-roaders on cb and GMRS from time to time.
Sometimes we take our own backyards for granted. We just visited a similar fire tower in Hoosier National Forest. I'm afraid of heights and didn't climb it but regret not pushing myself, so it was nice to see the views from one in your video. Beautiful scenery!
Would love to tag along in the spring with a little more challenging trails in ohio could you please give N update if you plan to wheel in ohio this summer I M now on 4" and 35s great video
Are you able to show on GPS where the landowner met you and told you about his private property? Just want to make note of it for when I go down there possibly next weekend.
@@CoddiwompleOverland that's what I was thinking, I'm about a hour from Shawnee SF and I'm new into light duty overlanding and was wanting to go out there this weekend and wanted a place to disperse camp for one night and I'm not into playing for camping especially in a crowded Campground. Thanks for the quick reply I appreciate it.
Hello. Fan of your channel. I have a gladiator rubi with a smart cap too. I’m looking into the Ikamper 3.0 and I have a rhino rack pioneer platform for the cap. It’s 49”x60”. The footprint of the Ikamper is 80-85” I believe. I’ve come across an issue with mounting. The pioneer platform cross bars doesn’t line up with the Ikamper track. Would you recommend relocating the Ikamper track to sit flush on the pioneer platform or would you recommend aftermarket cross bars system on top of the pioneer platform? Things to consider are adding an awning like yours and exterior lighting on the pioneer platform. Regarding the foot print of the 3.0 Ikamper and the pioneer platform, is the unsupported difference of 25” give or take going to be a structural issue with people inside? With these factors I’m seeking your advise. Thanks in advance
@@CoddiwompleOverland thanks for the response. On your set up are you using crossbars or a platform with your RTT mounted flush to it? I’m asking because I see you have an awning too and wondering if that was an issue installing with the RTT , or was there enough space to mount it no problem?
Hey bill Ralph Painter here from Crawl Ohio TV 2.0, next time you're in Ohio and want to see a bunch more unmaintained roads I can show you 100s of miles
Right in my backyard. Many if not most trails in Ohio are public roads through private property. Some owners will try to block you out, but usually if you're not a jerk they'll let you through. Best thing to do is take a trip with those who know the roads to make sure you're not wandering onto private.
It’s private property on both sides of the public road? So it’s no different than 99.9% of every road in the United States. BTW sir, It’s the same at my house, his house, and his house. It’s private property on both sides of the public road. Just thought you should know….my response when I meet people like that.

You would be correct.
Thank You for this---Many of my ancestors are there---The beauty of Scioto County strikes a chord with us-----thanks again
Thank you! We enjoyed the area.
It was so good to see Alan and Nancy!!!!!
Definitely! We were glad to have them along with us.
Nice video!
Thank you!

I would say that was.
The ribber is sooooo good. I miss it now that we live in SC.
That was the first time going for all of us. We have always heard if we were in the area to stop an eat there.

It was great to have them back with us!
What a beautiful day for exploring, but the nice sunny, blue skies can be deceivingly cold! Thanks!
Yes it was cold!
Thank you so much for the wonderful content. Wishing you and Coddiwomple Family a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season. 🎄🎅

Thanks for sharing this beautiful trip!

Don't forget the Southern Ohio Forest Rally
We will checkbout the dates.

Yes, that would be great.
That fire tower must have a breath taken view during the foliage. Another video well done. Your choice in music is very relaxing.
I would say that you are right about the fall view from the tower!
You would enjoy Wayne National Forest in Perry Co. and Vinton Furnace National Forest
Definitely plan on getting back to that area.
I love Shawnee. I come down there from northern Indiana.
It's a great area.

Great video - simple trip to refresh the soul. I agree with you; bring those capable vehicles to the West; we'd love to have you.
We love it out west. We will be headed back that way this summer.
Hey! I was just in Shawnee yesterday lol
Just missed ya, we were there Saturday.

In your defense a lot of those towers are pretty sketchy.
Perfectly worded ending philosophy
Thanks!

Definitely, we would also like to get back for a little more challenging trails.
Another great video! Always enjoy them. Curious how many miles you have on the Gladiator now?
Thanks! We have a little over 36,000 miles on it.

Sorry but unfortunately, we did not record tracks that day.

Thanks for sharing, be safe and take care out there.
No just at the parks

Honestly, I'm not familiar with the Rhino rack system. I do know that your tent will work with the RSI cross bars and the front runner cross bars.

We are using 2 RSI crossbars. The awning is mounted to those.

New to the area & looking for some nice unmaintained roads.... also are ohv stickers needed for the Shawnee State Park
Not sure about ohv. We traveled FS roads.

You have a cool backyard! That is great advice about going with someone local. Problem is, we didn't have anyone that we knew from up there.
Where's Kelly?
He has been doing other things.
Why did you change tablets from samsung to I pad
It's bigger and I can see it better. The Samsung only had a 32 gb hard drive where the I pad is 256 gb.
@Coddiwomple Overland how do you connect it out on the trail. Been thinking of getting one myself for overlanding and geocaching.
The Ipad is one that is Cellular and GPS enabled. It has its own data plan so it works the same as a phone without calling capabilities

The way they handled that homemade bread looked a little unsanitary.

Its not like he licked the knife before he cut the bread 😂
