I have been waiting for this episode since the day I listen to the Golden Age podcast! So, so so, very excited when I saw this posted! Jason, dude, bro, I'm requesting an episode #3, man. Keep the Superman love coming!!! Thank you so much!!!
Agreed, and I do hope you do a Golden Age Batman and Wonder Woman, as well as Jay Garret and Alan Scott!! In fact, I'm requesting those episodes of Geek History Lesson!
Chad Lupkes This is series worthy. There were so many incredible stories and characters back then that are either ignored or have been forgotten about now. I can't help but feel that a specifically themed Geek History Lesson style of show/podcast would/could be the perfect platform to bring those stories and characters to new people in the fun, respectable and well researched way that Jason does.
1. The Golden Age - 1938 - 1955 2. The Silver Age - 1956 - 1969 3. The Bronze Age - 1970 - 1984 4. The Modern Age - 1985 - The Present Day 5. The New 52 - 2011 - 2015 6. DC Rebirth - 2016 - 2022 7. The Dawn Of DC - 2022 - 2024 8. All In - October 2024 - TBD
I'd lump The New 52 and everything after that, all together. Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, Modern Age gets a different name, like the Dark Age or something, and New 52 onward becomes the Modern Age.
I just finished listening to your "History of Superman in the Golden Age" and enjoyed listening to that Podcast and now I just finished listening to this one and enjoyed them both very much. Keep up the good work or in this case I should say the "Super" work that you two do on these Podcast here on You Tube!!
Just to be clear, he died at the age of 14 in 1991. He didn't die as a baby. Still tragic, but important to reference that he lived way after his appearance as Kal-El.
I love how this video has a whole section of Jason sounding really excited at Superman stories and Ashley just being "...what were they smoking back then?" :-P
I love all of the weird covers in the silver age. Where he has a giant head, or is fat or whatevef. They were fun, and i like buying the ones from the 60's at the comic store.
Silver age is coop because I think it captures what being a young American kid must have felt like in those day. So much possibility that adventure was just in fhe air, wasn't jarring for wild adventures to be in every issue
I am surprised that you did not consider the issue where Wonder Woman lost her powers as the start of the Bronze Age. I thought that issue started it, and it slowly spread throughout DC, with Superman and Batman being the last characters affected.
Generically speaking as far as comic books as a whole, the silver age ends when the bronze age begins, HOWEVER the true ending and beginning of ages is a specific thing to DC. It was the "silver age" Superman that was in Crisis On Infinite Earths and it was that event that ended their silver age characters, so technically DC's silver age ended with that event.
I prefer Superman remembering Krypton, mostly because of his Super-intelligence and super memory. I feel like those 2 powers should be inherent in all Kryptonians on Kryptons. It should be a natural ability. I always liked that panel from the golden age that showed that the average Kryptonian child could do calculus before they were 5.
Oh its you guys. why aren't you guys showing your selves? I like Ashley's expressions. You both have good radio voices for sure. I am going outside to listen to this. bye
Prefer the toddler Superman, being a baby makes the outsider feeling a contrivance while the toddler thing gives him a look at krypton and subconscious Earth isn't home feeling.
I appreciate the idea of the tone of comics being the dividing line between ages, but I have to disagree. To me it's continuity that makes a difference. Green Lantern / Green Arrow and Teen Titans are both part of the Silver Age Pre-Crisis continuity, and while many of those stories and characters are referenced as happening and alive post-Crisis because they didn't completely start everything from scratch like they did with the New-52, it was a reset of the DC Multiverse. So unless Bronze is just going to be a way to reference comic tone, I don't see it as a completely new AGE in the comics, just a period of time within the Silver Age itself. Love the commentary though.
Curt swann, elliot S maggin, otto binder and mort weiseinger are legends.

I think the saddest one was with Lee Quigley the baby superman in the opening credits of Superman The Movie who died from solvent poisoning.
Raghu Seetharaman i love your pasta sauce...ragu

Bronze Age Superman has my favourite run on the character by Elliot S! Maggin

I smiled all along through this.

Very random comment but Jason you look kind of like Scott Free from Tom King's Mister Miracle Run. Love the podcast guys!
I've always felt the death of Gwen Stacy marked the end of the silver age, but I can see arguments for Perez's Titans and Crisis also
I see this is years after your comment; but to me, the Silver Age ends with Green Lantern/Green Arrow w/ Adams and O’Neill.
What graphic novel is the picture from, that this video is showing Superman Batman and Robin?
FYI: slvr age supes wasn’t strongest version superboy from earth prime was strongest superman and he was a 16 yr old kid
Always jammin to that intro music...!

Bronze Age is also thought to start in October 1970 with Conan: The Barbarian #1

Dope...history lesson
I consider the beginner of the Bronze Age the Death of Gwen Stacy.
Thanos GHL?
the Silver age ends with the death of Gwen Stacy, everyone knows that
