Still using the original GTS and works quite well. Don't need a complicated device, unless it could completely replace my smartphone. So these features are much more than what I need.

Watching this video with the first generation GTS on my wrist . A great and simple smartwatch , but now i am thinking to buy the GTR 4 . The GTS is the only smartwatch i had and i have , so an upgrade would be great :) .
@@liviudodo exactly the same thoughts here. I'm on the fence, still, because my original GTS still works. Plus, I'm really into the squared shape (and higher screen area), but I'd like the GTR4 battery life.
Now this is a good option for a smartwatch: at least a week of battery life, very good fitness tracking, speaker and independent headphones support and WiFi connectivity for fast music transfer (how big is the on board storage for music?) and some ability to reply messages, very good stuff. If it had nfc for payments it would be instant buy for me. Great to see the different battery life expectations for different use scenarios. Next time please show the different AOD available

The available storage is 4GB as far as I remember, so it can host a lot of music files.
Let me think how I can add more AOD information :-)
As for NFC... I think Xiaomi have shown with Mi Fitness how difficult such implementation actually is. Since these watches cannot pass Google's safetynet, they will have to rely on their own payment systems, so maybe it is right now too challenging to create a new one.
I honestly don't like having NFC capabilities on watches. You constantly have to unlock your screen to use your watch. I'd rather just whip out my phone for payments.
I have this watch and strongly recommend it. Great speaker and easy to take calls and it works perfectly. Caller does not even know I'm talking to my watch. Can receive and send texts. Great size and its light. Very comfortable. Great health apps. And it really does get 2 week battery life. IMO, this is far better then the apple/samsung/pixel crap and it does not lose features if you don't use their own branded phones. I know its rated really good on many sites but I have to agree with those reviews. Just buy this.

I am using the GTR 3 Pro for some months now and honestly, aside from the funky new design I see no significant upgrade in GTR 4.
The technological leap between my previous GTR 1 and 3 Pro was massive in pretty much every aspect (aside from battery life, ofcourse).
If it's your first GTR watch it's totally worth it, but if you are already using the 3 Pro and want to upgrade - eeeh....
Probably due to covid lock down in china, not many improvements were made.
I have an original GTR now and am on the fence about the 3 Pro or this.. What's the best battery life you've managed from the 3 Pro? I do really like that with the GTR I can generally go a week or more without charging. Another thing I can't find info on is can you pause/resume workouts via a button? For some reason the GTR let's me pause with a button, but I need to use the touchscreen to resume which is really annoying if I have gloves on. Thanks!
Does anyone use this watch in swimming? In salt sea is it safe to wear or it will be damaged? Thank you alot
I wore it while I was on vacation this summer, but it is not recommended to swim with it in the sea.
Great review, the heath rate accuracy has improve greatly and in addition you can add external devices
Ike chest band etc. My only downfall it that it occasionally does NOT measure the stress level. It give a lot of inside information when you exercise that is lacking even from Apple or Samsung.

I would like to share my experience with the Amazfit GTR 3. I purchased the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro in January 2022. I liked the design of the watch and the battery life. In July 2023, I sent it in for a warranty claim, because the touchscreen stopped working and the watch could not be operated. The claim was accepted, the fault was unrepairable and was resolved by replacing it with a new piece.
Unfortunately in August 2024 even with this new watch there was a defect, the watch would always switch to the switch off/restart screen and then switch off. Now the watch cannot be used.
The first watch lasted functional for 18 months. The second one only worked for 13 months and this one, even though it was new, could no longer be claimed.
Amazfit's statement on the repair of the Amazfit GTR 3 watch was that due to the waterproof design and design of the watch, it could not be repaired or would not be cost effective.
At least I gained experience, next time just don't accept the replacement but straight out withdraw from the contract and buy it again, at least one gets the warranty again, which may not be a bad thing with this watch.
I was satisfied with the watch, but I admit that it could have worked longer.

I'm liking this watch a lot, will be looking out for the GTR 5 to see what the improvements are, will stack my pennies in the mean time

does the watch calendar app actually sync properly with Google calendar app on a phone and does deleting a notification on the watch delete it from your phone? For me they were the two main failings from the GTR 3 pro which is why I sent it back and opted for the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra
Hey Richard, good question: Yes, sync with the calendar is excellent.
As for deleted notifications - no - they stay until you manually remove them.
The Ticwatch pro 3 Ultra is an amazing smartwatch too, and looks like you value the smart features a lot more - therefore seems to be the right choice for you.

One Big question I have is, can you se the time without having to connect to the smartphone/app? I'm tired of having to use the smartphone app to be able to set the hour, it's a watch, we should be able to set it from itself without any external device...

I am still wearing the original amazfit pace !!!!!!!!!! Must be 5 years old now. Still works great and almost a week battery life. Thinking of an upgrade though. I do like the way amazfit kit works. For the price the GTR 4 looks like my choice. Great reviews by the way.

I believe the Amazfit device feels better, however the Xiaomi watch supports NFC, therefore contactless payments. So if this is a priority to you - better keep the purchase! 😎

I think it is a metal one. As for the screen - not officially Gorilla. They claim it is a tempered glass.
I ve had a GTR2 New, I liked everything except the slow raise to wake-up of the screen, I decided to change it to a GTR4, I looked in the store, the same, the screen wakes up for ages, when you raise your hand you look at it like an idiot, switching is sensitive/normal, reset to factory or change dial, does not change anything... P.S. And they periodically stop syncing with the phone, and you need to do it manually.

I feel like this perception depends on the user and the level of brightness. it is definitely brighter than G1, but it is not as bright as the maximum screen brightness mode.

You should be able to use Notify and fitness for Amazfit, but I haven't tried it myself yet.
And sure - you can arrange the workouts the way you like and only list those that you are interested in.
BEWARE: Amazfit may have been upgrading the sensors from generation to generation but one thing they have NOT upgraded was their HR algorithm. Now in the fourth generation, the watch is still suffering from a major flaw in that if fails to pick up the pulse in sudden and rapid spikes of the HR, in activities such as cycling, interval training, swimming and a few others. I may be climbing an uphill on my cycle and be getting an HR of as low as 56bpm (?). Amazfit is well aware of this problem but they have NOT bothered to adjust their algorithms as yet. The new Falcon as well as the T-REX 2 both suffer from the same flaw. It is possible that the flaw may have been passed on to other models of the Amazfit lineup as well.

@@TechMishka I would think that a man of your own claimed expertise would have his own sources. For a start, a reviewer who would bother to have an in-depth look at a watch before he reviewed it, he would know that Xiaomi watches too suffer from the same flawed HR algorithm. This is merely one fact in a list of some more. Reviewing a product is not all about being cute on the camera.

Hi. I think Your reviews are really good. There's just one thing i would like to ask - if You could also look at hw good or bad GPS is in all those watches, and if there's possibility to connect them to external sensors. I'm particulary interested if GTR4 or T-rex 2 van connect to external speed / Cadence / power sensors. I've read that after update there's possibility to connect them to HR sensors, and that changes a lot...
Hey Michal, thanks for the comment. So far I managed to connect only to a HR sensor. Not sure if the software and the smartphone app can well interpret data from other sources.
How accurate are the sensors/readings? Most people who have actually done proper reviews have said it's unreliable. What is your experience?
It depends on what you call "unreliable". They are fine in most cases. Not as good as chest mount HR tracker. Also, most.of these reviews are done right after the release. Updates improve performance a lot

I have some questions regarding GTR4.
Currently I own Huawei GT2, for 1y and a half now. And I miss some things like calendar or agenda app, alexa/google assistant, replies, etc... Also, emoji support is non existent in the watch.
So questions:
1. Is there agenda/calendar app that can sync from google calendar and exchange/outlook.
2. i can see that some emojis in the notifications are not support. From your experience, what is aproximate percentage of the emojis supported?
3. How is the support for app icons? Example, if I get a notification from whatsapp/viber, is there going to be some generic icon or whatsapp/viber icon indicating there is a message?
4. In your opinion, is it worthy to upgrade from Huawei GT2? I can find GTR4 for about 180e. Or maybe wait for Ticwatch 4 Pro, GTR4 Pro or something similar?

4. Not really. Sounds like you'll enjoy having a WearOS smartwatch. However - the battery life will be much different to what GT2 Pro provides.
For the record - I believe the GT2 Pro is one of the best looking smart watches ever designed.

I also have a GT2, bit mine after 2 years appeared that inside bubbles on the screen. Now, after 3 years, the touchscreen doesn't work properly anymore. So I was thinking about buying the GTR 4, because of the battery life similar to the Huawei's. My doubt is only the sensors and GPS, for what I searched, the Huawei's usually better than the Amazfit's. Did you end up buying the GTR4?

Does GT3 track steps correctly for you? My GT3 tends to add a lot of steps that shouldn't be there, like 30% more. The same for my dad's Huawei Band 8. It's really weird and no one talks about it so what's going on here?
Hmmm, the counter was accurate in my case.
@@TechMishka that's super weird then. I don't even know what's causing it, since it's the same on two separate devices. If that'd be the firmware's fault, then a lot of people would report it.

I have a sort of a unique question, if anyone can clarify -
So, I have a smartwatch like Venu 3 for example - I pair it to my personal phone (Android) and install their app, and just use the watch normal, let it track whatever. But while at work, I'd like to connect it to my work phone (iOS) to take calls or see notifications. When it's connected to my work phone, will the health tracking start all over again or will it continue as it is?
If you gracefully sync and transfer, it will keep it all.

Does wireless charging actually matter though? The charger attaches to it magnetically, you just pull off the watch and you're done. I could understand wanting wireless charging if you had to slot a tiny connector in a tiny device but the magnet on the GTR4's charger is pretty cool imo. I have it stuck to my PC's outer metal shell and it's strong enough to stay put when I pull the watch off.
I have had situations where I forget my GT3 charger and was able to recharge it via the smartphone's reversed wireless charging.
@@TechMishka gtr4 has a 5-7 day battery life with intense use and isn't something that's going to die on you unexpectedly.
If wireless charging wasn't so inefficient, I'd be more inclined to see it more heavily implemented. Feels like a downgrade tbh, especially if it comes instead of contact charging.
Does it only track your activ calories or also your calories while resting?

It is one of the default watch faces, cannot recall the exact name though.

There is no way for the watch to "read" out loud the message. You will only sense the vibration when it arrives and you can read it.

I've seen something on Reddit about triggering Google Assistant straight from the watch and watches that have microphones ( GTR 4 as an example ) should give you full functionality. I think it was done with Amazfit Tools or Tasker. Does anyone know how to do this?
I currently have a first gen Samsung Galaxy watch, would say this would be a decent upgrade from that?? I looked at the garmins, but i dont do enough exercise to justify all the fitness things it does. I want a more 'smart' watch, but heard the new samsungs have pretty terrible battery life, unless you go for the 6, which i cant really afford. Thanks. :)
Well... It upgrades on many features, but battery life is not good at all... You probably will enjoy a lot the UI and navigation

If you comparing it to amazfit trex 2, which benefit is for casual use and light exercise kind of people?
The T-Rex 2 feels bigger and is rugged. I believe access to menus is a little easier on GT4, and also - the ability to take phone calls is an important advantage.

Yes it does. it will sync recent sport activity with your phone when u get in bluetooth range. However without phone it wont be online as you may already know

Sounds like you will be fine with WearOS too :)

Nope - whatsapp calls are not supported.

do the watch faces feature a red notification dot for notifications you have received but haven't viewed? same way the Apple Watch does it?

hope gtr 5 would have bigger useable storage,bigger battery,better speaker,faster chip,sharper brigther screen,stainless steel and a redesign. i got gtr 1 and it litetally looks the same😂
