You are not the only person on RUclips reacting to music, but you are one of the only ones I’ve seen who will honestly say when you don’t like a song or album, and that’s awesome. Can’t guarantee you’ll like it but I’d love for you to react to my fav band, The Pogues, I’d recommend the album If I Should Fall From Grace With God, I know you like lyrics and I personally believe Shane MacGowan wrote the best lyrics in all of music. Hey Smags, love your reactions and happy you’re enjoying sober Bowie (Low supremacy)
I know you plan to do Blackstar and imo there are some albums that are essensial before getting to his death (RIP)
I’d say 100% do Hunky Dory and Scary Monsters, they’ll make great reactions for sure and are CLASSICS. Let’s Dance is wildly different and will make a fun reaction I think for someone who already knows Bowie’s classics and it’s also great imo. Outside is also considered a classic among fans but post 80s Bowie is widely overlooked so it would make sense if you don’t want to do those
Thank you Smagger! Can’t wait for Blackstar though

    Ambient reccomendations :
Stars Of The Lid ‎- Stars Of The Lid And Their Refinement Of The Decline - for the chillest most 'ambient' like album, this shit heals your soul.
Devon Hendryx (or JPEGMAFIA) - Ghost Pop Tape, depressive ambient pop. Honestly anything from jpegmafia would be cool
Tim Hecker - Virgins, rather dark and very visceral ambient experience, it is also shorter than stars of the lid one. Also anything by Tim hecker would be very cool

    • @svp6055
      @svp6055 2 месяца назад +1

@@StanleyDietrich A Love Supreme is NOT light in the slightest, it's one of the most intense jazz albums ever recorded, it's to Coltrane what Bitches Brew was to Miles. For a light pick, Kind of Blue or, I agree about In A Silent Way, works for Miles, older Coltrane stuff is more laid back (My Favorite Things is my personal choice there). He'd also probably really like Head Hunters, since it's kind of groovy and electronic.

@@svp6055I agree totally…A Love Supreme is so good but definitely not the album I’d recommend as a first Coltrane listen. Gotta see where he came from first.
My Fave Things is a great suggestion. I’d add Blue Train and the album he did with Thelonious Monk. All 3 of those are fantastic but a lighter listen with some covers and jazz standards in the mix.
A Love Supreme is focused, serious work…not to be trifled with lightly lol.

Love to see Mellon Collie and Third get some love and make the top 10.
MC is a bit of a trek to get through the whole thing but they ease you in…the first 7-8 tracks are all bangers before it starts to meander towards the “double album” type stuff.
Third is just awesome…I remember when it first dropped that it immediately hit me as my favorite of theirs and still is. Awesome old-school synths and great instrumentation (especially the guitar…dude is always on point even though it’s not guitar-forward music). Dummy gets a little time capsule-ish to the 90’s to my ear with the DJ scratches and synth patches. Still great, but Dummy does make me cringe a bit at some of the en vogue stuff for the time it was recorded.

I don’t have a ton to recommend but one album I LOVE is It’s Album Time by Todd Terje. Awesome synth pop/dance album. Super danceable and all synth sounds were made MAINLY with an ARP 2600

XXX needs to be the next Danny Brown album and you should listen to a very well deserved critically acclaimed underground/experimental rap album from last year, Maps by Billy Woods with producer Kenny Segal

ive been getting into 70s soul music lately, if you haven't listened to the big Stevie Wonder albums theyre beyond necessary, id start with songs in the key of life and I'd say fulfullingnesses first finale is underrated af

You might enjoy The Doors' L.A. Woman a lot more than Strange Days. I think its almost as good as their debut and it is much more straightforward, groovy rock than the few albums preceeding it are.

Some really needed metal recommendations 😁
    Tool: Aenima
Megadeth: Peace Sells and Rust in Peace
    Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power
Metallica: Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets
    Judas Priest: Painkiller
Faith no More - Angel Dust
    Deftones - Around The Fur
    Type O Negative: Octuber Rust
Agalloch - The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain
    Isis - Panopticon
Death - Honestly, every album by them from the 90's is goated, but Symbolic is a very welcoming album for people who have no experience with death metal
Opeth - Damnation, Ghost Reveries and Blackwater Park
Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
These are some very iconic and easy albums to listen if you don't have a lot of prior experience with the genre, i feel it's really important to start with some of these as it can ease you up for the harsher stuff that you'll find by the lots, have fun 🗣️
