This is exactly why Vesia is my favorite. Not only is he a super nice and humble guy, but he knows what it's like to have to grind to earn every bit of the success that he's achieved. Good podcast, Dan, and I can't wait to see more!
A crazy thing that matches with this is that once I went to a dodgers game and I was waiting in the bullpen and saw him walk by and I asked fr a ball and he said once the game ended he would throw us one and he threw us two because there was two of us it was very nice of him
im a big dodger fan and vesia is my favorite reliever to watch. hes so fun and has so much personality and passion, and his story is so inspiring. i love the guy. last year on our home opener the crowd cheered pretty much louder than any other reliever for him; we all love him here. glad you did this interview
Lucky enough to have a few interactions with Vesia while he was in OKC. Chatted it up with me and my lil bro and made fans of him for life. Thanks for being such a class act Alex and DSARM thanks for giving players an open platform to be themselves
My young son stays after Dodgers games looking for balls and autographs. Almost all the players immediately leave to go change and shower....except Alex. He has so many visitors it's crazy! You can tell how much he enjoys playing in MLB and just wants to share the experience with everyone he's ever known. It's fun to watch.
Seeing him succeed is so cool and unreal to see because I caught this guy in high school in the off-season’s. He was a couple years ahead of me so we didn’t actually go to school together but we went to the same high school and I would catch him in the summer during summer ball at our high school Steele Canyon, and to see him A make the big leagues and B play on my favorite team the Dodgers is absolutely nuts and such a cool feeling to know Him
Definitely an exercise in preserving and not giving up. Some players do not mature physically until after college. Scouts now a days miss that. More to Judging talent. Seeing potential is a true gift.
From Hayward and at the time I lived 2 blocks from cal state east bay (I'm old I still call it cal state Hayward). .used to walk up from my house on Saturdays cause it was the closest baseball games and saw him a couple times. That baseball field has the best view in California btw
What's really crazy is his walk rate- in 2019 at Class A he walked 4.8 batters per 9 innings.. then upon promotion to High-A he walked just 1 batter (0.5 per 9) in 18.2 innings then another promotion to AA walked just 1 batter again in 16 innings (0.6 per 9).. that's such a drastic improvement & mid season is nuts..
Wish they spoke about the workouts in order to get to 90mph. There are HS players throwing 82 tops but don’t know how to get to 90mph for college. Great video man..
Fast forward the the NLDS when he threw the pitch that got the Dodgers eliminated by Jake Cronenworth and the Padres in the 2022 NLDS hahahahahahahaha good thing this impostor somehow made it to the big leagues

Thank you bro!! Really appreciate that. Alex's story is remarkable

Dude, keep up the content. You're doing what MLB isn't, marketing the players and telling the story of the game.
Thank you my man!! That’s the goal
He was gonna mention Bauer when talking about resources for young pitchers
You are such a good host. Not a question wasted and great vid
Really good pod. Next time can you ask more about the minor league journey too. The pay, housing, stuff like that
Thank you!! Yes, great idea I will
Im a padres fan and although he gave up the winning runs in that game 4, you could see he was a very good pitcher, much respect to Alex
