@@EyeStorrm what is wrong with free speech? xD. Let people say what they want. Free speech is a fundamental right, a right the people in Britain were fighting for 80 years ago
Her majesty The Queen of England has done so much for the country and for the people in Great Britain... this is REAL LOVE, CARING AND GREAT VALOUR the Queen never abandoned her country and the people!!!! She is great, long live the QUEEN!!!! and the peoples of UK who love and support the monarchy FOR EVER....
Her Majesty and Sister HRM Margerat took care of most of the turbulent times of the UK during their lives..and she will always be thanked and remembered for that❤❤❤🙇♂️
Oddly enough, after a lifetime of being opposed to the monarchy, I finally understand why monarchies exist. Of course, this only works if the monarch lives over 90 with all of their faculties intact. But the mere fact that someone in a position of power can speak to you 80 years apart, whilst still being in that position, is nothing short of a miracle. God save the Queen.
Most monarchs didn't even come close to her age. There's a reason, she's being hailed as the first British monarch to ever become so old and reign for so long. Most monarchies existed because someone had an abnormally large ego and there happened to be enough people around him to support that. The British monarchy only really still exists because of tradition. The powers the British monarch still has are vastly limited by the fact that any abuse of them would inevitably lead to the dissolution of the monarchy. While republics might not seem inherently superior to a constitutional monarchy like Britain's, they certainly are, in contrast to any absolute ruler.

Growing up I felt like it was some sort of gimmick and that they didn't actually do anything yano not for the people but the older I have got the more I have come to realize just how much she sacrificed throughout her life and she was an absolute rock for us. What a woman!
With respect it seems the British learned a few things before that speech from their own history. Defiance against an enemy that they could not defend against on their own and standing their ground despite overwhelming odds and little chance of survival. I live only a few miles from the battle grounds of Lexington and Concord where others once thought this and took a chance to stand their ground despite the odds stacked against them. In modern history, the British and their monarchs (to be fair mostly her and her father) have been great friends to the US which I am thankful for and hope through the reign of King Charles that it will stay the same. Godspeed to you Queen Elizabeth ... I am sure in my lifetime or my sons that we will never see a Queen like you again.
Roger Hodgson (Supertramp) had the end of this speech at the beginning of his song "Along Came Mary". Only recently discovered who it was after all this time. RIP, your majesty.
HM Queen Elizabeth II's death anniversary is coming up next Tuesday, April 9th. It's only been 2 years since she left us, but so much has happened in the BRF that I hope that both the king and Princess of Wales continue to fight for their health. Please don't take them away from us just yet. I don't care if The Sussexes die.
With all that's going on right now... you think an outcry from the population would not have an effect back then? Keep in mind radio was still a new technology Who controlled the media, owned the news papers and radio stations? Do you think people were more savvy back then?
That's right. The UK may have hoped the US would join the war sooner but these types of speeches were not the main reason the US entered the war. Germany declared war on the US four days after the US declared war on Japan for attacking Pearl Harbour, and that is what actually placed the US squarely in WW2 in Europe. What was occurring prior to that though, and there is no doubt these kinds of speeches played some part, was the support the US was providing to the UK -- despite its claim to be a neutral party (officially, and against rules set out by the US Congress). The US had signed many agreements to aid the UK, and these kinds of speeches were targeted, at least in part, at the American public in order to try to get them to do so. As a result, despite being officially neutral, the US was sending their own supplies and bolstering Canadian convoys, which meant the US was sort of technically at war with the German navy even before the US was officially part of the war in Europe. Would any of this have happened without similar speeches? I don't think anyone can say. However, what we can say is that the speeches were made in direct attempt to gain US support (in addition to the other countries that were already allies).
