    I installed my ctek plug in the front grill of my X5 and extended the mains cable on the charger. Plug into the outside socket on the garage wall, connect to car, chuck the ctek under the front of the car in case it rains. Job done. Don’t have to open any doors etc on the car.

    My 2019 Ftype R ( V8 ) has the positive post enclosed in a plastic case and the negative post just behind it , both under the hood . I just connect my battery monitor/ charger to those , works great .

    My new to me 2016 F-Type 3.0 started getting those battery warning lights month after I bought it. Driving didn't fix it, eventually the battery died. I ordered a CTEK charger and also bought a new battery, thinking that at the age of the car it probably needed a new battery, and unless there is a good charge in the battery you can't get into the trunk/boot to see it. It took two full days to get a full charge on the old battery, upon gaining access to it I saw it was only a ten months old. I've been driving the car on the "old" battery for two months now, turns out that it just needed a full charge, the car had sat at a dealer for about six months, it needed a deep charge to come back to health.
    The CTEK charger is a good unit, I bought the five amp one. I charged the car via the posts under the hood/bonnet.
    BTW, my 3.0 is the S model with manual six speed, quite rare, I found it 2,000 miles from me at a dealer in Denver, Colorado, USA. It had 29,500 miles on it when I bought it.

    Looks different in the V6 F-Type Convertible 2019. Not sure where to fix the +/- Ctek-cables 🤔🤔

    Great video like all of your videos, very informative. 6:32 was helpful as mentioned by another viewer but one question, did you connect the red wire to the brown wire because the nut had nothing connected to it or is the brown wire the main wire to charge the battery? Can you connect the red wire anywhere on the positive bar. My brown wire also has a nut with nothing connected to it and its marked with a number 50, not 100 like the one in your F-Type. So can I connect the red wire to my brown wire nut as well? My F-Type R is a 2017 model.

      Thanks for the support. Anywhere on that positive rail will get you charging - it’s a common, shared between each of those cables 👍🏻

    Great video! Which length on the CTEK Comfort Panel did you use; the 1,5m (56-380) or the 3,3m (56-531) version? Also, does it matter to which socket/cable you plug the eyelet on the positive bus bar?

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  7 месяцев назад +1

      I made up my own length of cable (detail in the video). No, the BUS bar is a common rail so anywhere on that should be fine as long as you stay the same side of all the fuses

    Can someone tell me what size/type of cable do I need to extend the existing lead so that it reaches the house.

    i have one of these but never have to use it. I dont drive my Jag too awfully much (2nd car), so Jaguar must have a really strong battery system. Occasionally i'll get a notice battery needs charging, but not often...and it will sit 2 weeks sometimes without starting. 👍

      Based on many reports out there you’re bound to have a problem eventually operating like this, and the problems that show up due to low voltage issues can be very random and weird. Best to avoid it with a simple charger if at all possible I think, but to each their own. If you don’t have a garage I get that it is certainly more of a pain.

    Wouldn't it be easier and cleaner to use the battery booster terminals under the engine hood?

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  4 месяца назад

      That could be an option, yes. The orientation I park my car, and the ease of opening the power tailgate opposed to the bonnet just made more sense for my application 👍🏼

  • @thef14d
    @thef14d 11 месяцев назад

    Why didn’t you connect with the front bonnet? In this case you want “press” the “shielding” around the boot

    • @MrGB_UK
      @MrGB_UK  11 месяцев назад +1

      Fair question. I don’t want to have the bonnet open each time to connect. The boot opens on a button and I park back into the driveway

    • @MrGB_UK

      No, the charger goes into the boot. The boot then closes on the cable

    Take care: never ever put the CTEK in "recond" mode on an AGM battery, it will destroy the battery instead of recharge&maintain it!!! I saw in the video at 8:52 the wrong mode.

    • @erubino1977
      @erubino1977 8 месяцев назад

      Shouldn't it be set to AGM mode for charging? I thought that the F-Type had an AGM battery.

    • @xWildchild82x
      @xWildchild82x 8 месяцев назад

      @@erubino1977 the battery it’s AGM, but AGM mode is preferred in very low temperature environment but NEVER use a recond mode on an AGM battery. AGM battery can’t be renewed with recond mode. This will destroy the AGM battery instead of renew it.

      @@xWildchild82x Thanks for clarifying. I knew not to do recond mode with AGM but didn't know about not using the AGM mode for an AGM battery. Thanks!
