Nice work. The forest is certainly off to a great start. The pot suits the planting very well. Thanks, keep growing

Thank you so much - they are having a rough time in the summer heat. Hopefully they'll do well.

Thanks! I'm excited by how vigorous they are - these are my first red maples.

I'll post an update this spring, but its coming along nicely. It formed a nice even canopy this past summer and then had a nice fall display. Over the winter, I will prune them back a bit. Cheers!

Its nice to see someone using native maples for bonsai, or just native trees in general. I am experimenting with Acer rubrum also except mine were pulled from a family members yard as seedlings and aren't of any particular variety.
I hope these trees are doing well for you this year. I'd be interested in seeing a fall color update if possible.

Local native trees are important to me, so I'm excited about this little forest. Last year I made my first bonsai purchase; the local bonsai club had a benefit auction, and I got a mature mother-daughter red maple and a sizeable western hemlock. You're right, you just don't see a lot of local material, and I'm pleased I can take care of these trees for a while - my hats off to the original makers!
