This is how my family came to love this particular version of A Christmas Carol. It continues to be my favorite version and it was here on Family Classics in the 70's that me, my mom and my brother watched it in the kitchen on our Zenith black and white TV.
I loved family classics and Garfield goose bozzo all the Friday night late movies and Saturday early mornings movie free TV all you need was a good antenna a TV and you had entertainment in your home
@Marcg-b4n I was raised in Indiana the only child born in Indiana my mom and dad and brothers and sister all born in Chicago and most of my family. They had a house on patomic Ave mom grew up on the south side and dad grew up in the Polish area just 2 blocks over from the bakery imperial I think it was been years since I was there
Sunday, December 24th 1978. Three days before this aired Police in the Chicago area began digging up the bodies under serial killer John Wayne Gacy's house.
I remember when this movie was aired on WNBC-TV (Channel 4) in New York City back around 1996 when it was part of the “Cinema 4” series of movie specials, and it was colorized instead of the original black & white. I’m not a fan of colorization, but the original B&W version is way better.
1978, year of the Star Wars Holiday Special! As a kid I would've gotten a real kick out of that. I wouldn't have been able to stomach much black and white TV.
What in the hell was that? I think that you missed the point...We wanted to see the opening, the breaks, and the closing...AND YOU SHOWED US NOTHING?! GREAT JOB!!!
Read the video description. This was all that was on the tape apart from the movie itself. If you want to see the opening, breaks and closing, there is a link to the 1981 broadcast where this material was included. Here, I assume that seeing something from a rare broadcast is better than nothing. Merry Christmas! 😊
Just about the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon, watching Family Classics, while dinner was cooking.

Great times, 1970s growing up in Lagrange and later Hinsdale.

Would be nice to watch the whole presentation
Yeah, teasers are worthless
I remember watching Frazier Thomas. ❤❤
The whole story condensed into three minutes. Perfect for the short attention span generation. Brought to you by Robitussin.
It’s a shame that our Chicago television stations don’t broadcast shows like this at christmas anymore
Good show
Now a TCM classic movie.
