Magnificent images, my friend!! The moon shot in particular just cut deeply inside me. Tremendous Josh!!

Incredible images. The first image was only 1 of the 3 by him that made it to the Nat Geo article (so 3 of 5 images in the article were by him). My favorite was his favorite, but that is a really special image that required a real vision of what he wanted to accomplish with very specific criteria plus remarkable technical knowledge and a bit of luck to have the weather cooperate.

Man is that Bristlecone photo epic!
I also took a serendipitous trip in my "backyard" in September, backpacking in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and oh boy are the Sierras a magical place!

Its very inspiring to see your enthusiasm when you tell us the challenges you've got to struggle with to, finally, have your designed/desired shot done. Keep up with this in the next year to offer us such great work. Happy 2021!!!

What I really love about this is how photographers think differently. Average people: perfect blue sky! Score! Photographers: weather was boring yesterday. Average people: oh no! Thunderstorms are building! Photographers: uuhhj!! Electric potential for super interesting clouds!
Also average People: give me 5 mins tops so I can shoot some snaps. Photographers: walked around for another couple of hours before our hike so I could get some random shots in.
Congratulations on your national geographic credit :) how did you come by this? Do you send the photos in? Or do you Upload them to a stock photo service and national geographic used them from there? Would be very interested in hearing more about that particular experience if you don’t mind sharing please :)
Hope that 2021 will be that successful for you again.

All great shots, Josh! The Bristlecone pine and moonrise was amazing, and I liked how the setting sun warmed up the tufa on the right side of the image at Mono Lake to balance with the warm clouds on the left side of the lake. I just wish I had a backyard like yours and the physical ability/confidence to get to some of the places you've been to.
    All the best in 2021!

“Squanchin around”. What a perfect way to describe it. Now I kinda know what it was like for you!
Awesome images Joshua! Stunners! May I ask, did you focus on the bristlecone and then use a super small aperture like f/16-f/22 to get the details of the moon? I often wonder about these kinds of shots with a foreground and the moon!

Joshua two days ago my son experienced for the first time seeing the moon go through the Belt of Venus. He called all excited to make sure that I would capture the show.
