SERIES SYNOPSIS: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: What Happened To This Horror Movie?

Yeah, seeing this, after Ricochet, then Cliffhanger, someone told me John Lithgow is a comedian .... I couldn't believe it
Third Rock From The Sun!! 😅
Lithgow rules, brilliant actor!
Lithgow is a genuine acting force. Surprises me that he's never been a leading man in more high class fare instead of b-movie thrillers and father figures of main characters.
His best psycho role after Ricochet with Denzel!
I honestly don't see them as b-movie, if Lithgow's in there it's 24K movie Gold! Horror, thriller or comedy! Id love to make a deep dive into his genius at some point!
Was so good as a villain in Stallone's Cliffhanger.
He's sooooo underrated, nobody talks about him.
But I like him as the father in Harry & the Hendersons. His performance is so touching. I showed a friend the movie who had never seen it before and they got teary eyed at the ending.
No idea what the hell Raising Cane is, but Raising Cain was a damned good flick.
Someone must have been hungry because Rasing Cane is the name of a fast food place that serves chicken fingers.
@@at3479 Close enough for government work. The restaurant is called Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.
@@DeschutesCoreit’s still correct to shorten it to just “Raising Cane’s”, the real colloquialism is simply “canes”.
"The cats in the bag and the bags in the river" .. That must be where Mike Patton got those lyrics from for tomahawk
Remember seeing this in the movie theater a couple of times. The second time I sat in the back literally watching the whole movie theater jump out of their seats. Fun times.
CAIN, not Cane. As in Cain and Abel, the Bible story where Cain kills his brother Abel. C’mon, guys.
I saw snippets of this feature when i was way too young. If anything it introduced me to the concept of jumpscares. Seeing Lithgow being over the top is always great though.
I remember going to the local corner store with my dad n lil brother to rent vhs movies on the weekend. This was one of the stand out movies we rented, and when we saw this at a flea market, we bought it. Old school days, when you could rent vhs.
Mike!!!! So proud of you, man! Cannot believe you’re on joblo.
Raising CAIN
fixed it for you.
Yeah they spelled it like the chicken finger fast food joint 🤣
He was great in S4 of Dexter and 3rd Rock from the Sun too.
I only saw this once back in 1992 but I vividly remember that final shot of Lithgow in drag.
there is nothing more iconic than Brian De Palma channeling uninhibited passion and psychosis.
🎉 I love this movie! Have rewatched it at least 10 times. Now I have to watch official directors cut. Thank you 🫡
I still watch this every few years , it is its own kind of animal and sheer joy❤
HOLY SHIT THATS DUDE FROM WE WATCHED A MOVIE!!!! My guy! When did you start on this channel?!?
Brian De Palma having a positive reaction to the fan edit made me smile.
raising S P L I T...Lithgow as Trinity in DEXTER😎Awesome
Woo! I saw the game Afterburner😂😂I kicked ass on that. Lithgow's performance in this scared the crap out of me even moreso than in Blowout. He is such a great actor❤❤❤
I’ve got a long-standing affection for movies that go for broke, and Raising Cain does it with such panache.
I saw it at the theatre, Freshman year of college and loved it!
My mom rented this back in 92 may have been 93 she said it's to adult for you so I waited seven years when I was fifteen watch it and John Lithgow did a excellent job one of his best films never owned on VHS haded on DVD would love to own the collectors edition Blu Ray solid film
I've seen most of De Palma's films but I've never seen this one. I remember seeing the promos for it back in the early 90s but never had interest in seeing it. My favorite De Palma's films are in order: Carlito's Way, Mission: Impossible, The Untouchables, Scarface and Body Double.
yet another example of just what a wacky, WILDLY diverse filmography De Palma has built up. XD
I swear you were in my head in my childhood and know everything i liked
I remember this goofy thriller, had fun watching this move. John Lithgow is freaking awesome. 🙂
HOLY ...not having them in the same frame....THAT'S why Gollum works so well in LOTR in his solo scenes
I hadn't actually realised - or maybe had forgotten - this was a Brian de Palma film, tbh.. but being as I loved it so much, especially John Lithgow's performance(s), then I reckon its just become my FAVOURITE de Palma movie!.. Maybe akin to the movie itself, its an easy, if perhaps another slightly unexpected turn of events (or in this case, film choice), really... 🎬/👍
Raising CAIN is the actual title of the movie. Check the description of this video, too. I'm pretty sure it's not called Fight Club, either.
Brisn De Palma's filmography is so amazing!! It is so phenomenal, it just makes me want to shake my booty to a Bruce Springsteen Dancing In The Dark video....which DePalma directed also. 😅😊
Saw raising cain like 3 times in theaters
Isn't John Lithgow kind of split personality actor? He can do funny comedies and serious psychological thrillers like no one can. Campbell soup commercials too. 😅
Raising Cain Sounds So Good To Watch.
Great flick and Lithgow pulls an all-timer in the role. It's DePalma's version of Psycho.
0:02 Last Action Hero
Dope film underrated
I hate to say this, but I never saw this movie. I remember the trailer/TV Promos as a kid and thinking it looked cool. BUT SOMEHOW....this slipped throw the cracks. I need to look for this film and watch it soon.
Shifting the center character by killing the original one off shortly after the start of the film would have been too much like Hitchcock’s Psycho. So the director did the right thing.
I love Sisters starring Margot Kidder and Jennifer Salt.
excellent thriller!
Darn good video essay to one of DePalma's most fun trillers!
I love this movie and it's seriously my favorite DePalma film. I need to find that special edition of it.
I have always
enjoyed this
underrated movie.Lithgow was awesome. Got the DVD years ago. To bad a continuation was not made...i would like to see a updated remake.
They'll just ruin it. Let's be honest. They ruin all remakes.
Lithgow is a Jugganaught of an actor! 👍
Could this be considered the proto-version of “Split” by M. Night Shyamalan??? 🧐
I've just never been able to take Lithgow seriously. Maybe it's because the first thing I saw him in was Santa Clause the movie followed by 3rd rock from the sun.
Whatever it is, even when he's trying to be serious I can't help but laugh at him.
I remember when this was released and going to Universal Studios Orlando and they having movie posters of this all over the park. Cool movie only slightly disappointing by the lackluster anticlimactic ending.
they franchised out and serve chicken strips now i think
8:00 She wasn't in the most recent season of True Detective she was in season 2.
Oh, hi Mike
Still a damn good film
Body Double
I seem to remember John Litthgow playing a trans ex-American Football player in The World According To Garp.
Femme Fetale was his last great erotic suspense thriller
I rather had a good time with it. I think DePalma made a legitimately dark comedy thriller.
story is disturbing
blow out my favorite de palma
It's a good scream.
🎉🎉🎉
This might possibly be the worst movie i've ever seen
Of course Raising Caine is one of the great mindfuck movies - whichever way you approach it. But the winner of the De Palma mindfuck movies has got to be the totally unjust neglected masterpiece movie Femme Fatale. Rarely (ever?) has absurdity been treated with so much style, class and intelligence. And Passion really isn't that far behind.
They're both De Palma just doing his thing, not giving a F.... about Hollywood or audiences that are at least a decade behind on taste.
both of those are fantastic, and people are especially sleeping on Passion.
