Return to tradition and they will come.

What a wonderful service this podcast is to our Archdiocese. Thank-you Archbishop Smith. And Jenny…you are an awesome interviewer /podcast coordinator.

If there's a correlation between priestly vocations and families with several children, read the moral memo from the pulpit: Stop using contraception!
    ....
That would require courage as there could be a backlash from the contracepting members of the proverbial "choir" and donations could tumble, but then authoritatively proclaiming the moral truth risks and costs.
Question is: Is the moral truth of Christ worth the risk and do you have the courage to deliver the straight goods?

Traditional/conservative Catholicism produces vocations. No surprise. Just look at the vocations growth with groups like the FSSP.

Nominal Catholics not going to mass? Low attendance? Few vocations?
From the pulpits, the moral seat of Christ's authority, try explicitly instructing moral obligation to attend mass with all of the children. No working outside of charitable work like public service like healthcare workers. No Sunday shopping. Mass and prayer before sports and entertainment.

I am happy to defend your right to freely practice whatever religious dogma you like. But I will not tolerate you trying to impose these practices on those who don't share your god beliefs.

@@downenout8705 God already does the imposing through divine, moral, and natural laws. To suppose that any human being, especially the most common and unpowerful one, could impose anything on anyone else is plainly absurd. So, you can set aside any concern you may have about imposition.

@@MM22272 I suggest that you reread what you wrote because you are without doubt advocating for your religious dogma to be imposed on others. I will shop and work on Sunday and I will not perform or sanction any religious ceremony in the sporting events that I participate in.

@@downenout8705 My comment only represents what's the Catholic Church teaches. There's no need to shoot the messenger. If you don't like the message or dogma, you may wish to improve your aim by redirecting your objections either to the Church or to Christ. Many have tried, beginning with Lucifer, but have failed. Your chances of success are probably next to nil. Nonetheless, exercise your free will as you prefer.

@@MM22272 Again I suggest that you reread what you wrote. You made a first person demand of what you wanted to be imposed on others.

No. The church does not "need more priests". The church needs to stop sidelining and taking off the bench good, holy, ORTHODOX priests.
