    I think it's funny (in a sad way) how people trust humans more than technology. That doctor giving the example of the wrong dose of medication reminded me of a friend of mine, who was given the double dose of his medication in a hospital for several weeks, before he noticed it himself and asked his doctor about it. It turned out that the nurse in charge of the pills had been giving him 20 mg pills instead of 10 mg pills. This happened 15 years ago, before everything was handled digitally, the nurse just wasn't doing her job and my friend was put in a dangerous situation because of this. Total human error, no robots involved.
    Human beings are distracted, are nicer to one patient than to another, maybe had too much to drink and/or not enough sleep the night before, or maybe stopped caring about their jobs a decade ago and are just riding it out until retirement. I'd take my chances with a well-programmed robot over all these human factors any day. Also, when I'm old, I'd rather be cared for by a robot, than by someone who talks to me like I'm a child, like a lot of people do to old people, I find it degrading. So bring on the robots, please.

      You said "The doctor giving the example of the wrong dose of medication reminded me of a friend of mine who was given too much dose of his medication" the doctor you were referring to gave too much dose to the patient because the computer told him/her to do so. Hence the doctor trusted the technology too much not knowing the presence of a glitch in the system which caused the problem. We can't always trust technology. Have you heard about XL Airways Germany Flight 888? That is an example of it

    • @psychedelicdreamer986
      @psychedelicdreamer986 7 лет назад +3

      Wow, can you read or what? My friend got too much medication because A NURSE MADE A MISTAKE WITH MY FRIEND, A HUMAN NURSE, MANY YEARS AGO, BEFORE ANYTHING WAS DIGITAL. Please don't try to communicate with me if you can only read 1 sentence and then tune out. Damn. As a penalty for your behavior I'm not going to respond to what you said before this or after, maybe it will teach you to read properly before you respond and make a fool out of yourself. Good luck with that.

    • @TheMADC999
      @TheMADC999 7 лет назад +2

      Wow you're so triggered right now. Anyway, let me re-EXPLAIN since you can't get what I'm saying. You said "The doctor giving the wrong dose of medication..." (4:57 watch this again, this is what you're referring to) in your comment. The doctor TRUSTED the computer, see what I mean there now??? You also said "It's funny (in a sad way) how people trust humans more than technology" which means you want everyone to TRUST a machine more than a human in medicine! Going back to the doctor that made a mistake because he/she followed what the computer told him/her. So my point is THE CAUSE OF THAT ERROR IS A GLITCH IN THE COMPUTER WHICH LEADS TO guess what.... WE CAN'T TRUST MACHINES at least at this point in time. Why don't you try reading your own comment and re-watch the video

    Better to hear a cancer diagnosis in the first stadium from a machine than in the 3rd/4th from a regular doctor.
    Hugs etc. are a matter of technological advancement - we are concentrating on a working AI today - the ergonomics and sociological factors will follow - they are not a principal problem.
    You can't stop the robots - all sentimentality apart, they will do this work very soon much better and cheaper than any human could.

      Spicy Puffin the problem is they don't, nurses kill thousands of people a year with the wrong dose. Doctors leave instruments in patients and using asi (artificial specific intelligence) can save a huge amount of time freeing up the human labour from the donkey work.

    • @Spicypuff
      @Spicypuff 7 лет назад +1

      While that may be true, the thing is not everyone is going to be off well with this. While you many believe that this donkey work being done by robots will free up time for us the thing is not everyone is will use that time as a lot of people use work as basically their way of life and without their job they are nothing as not everyone is going to go out there and invent stuff, find cures, create music, ect. Not everyone is like that and by taking this job away, many will lose a job they loved or enjoyed to be part of. And not only that, i fear that companies will see this shift to robotic workers and theres no doubt in my mind that they wouldn't fire most of their workforce to save a few bucks and so on, up to the point where theres only 1 person managing the machines.

    • @RookieN08
      @RookieN08 7 лет назад +5

      Humans are meant to be replaced. Robots are way more accurate than humans will ever be. In these last 2 centuries, machines have already proven themselves to be a lot more efficient and productive than human beings ever were. Now, with their artifical intelligence, humans will just be obsolete. If humans ever want to compete with robots, then genetic engineering is our only hope but I highly doubt that will ever happen. It's very sad how biology and chemistry don't progress as fast as physics cuz most geniuses like Albert Einstein happened to be physicists. We have already created machines that is way more intelligent than human beings while human doctors still can't figure shit out on how to cure most incurable diseases such as cancers over the last several decades. If we ever found a cure to cancer, it would be the A.I not human beings.

    • @Spicypuff
      @Spicypuff 7 лет назад +1

      Don't underestimate humans because humans are capable of working at extreme level comparable to a robot. The human body is capable of so much amd the ability to be able to adapt to any situation is nothing short of amazing.

    • @sleonhart
      @sleonhart 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, humans are amazing, but humans aren't built to work and be productive 24/7. Robots can be built for that purpose, we are no match, and that's a good thing because it means we can finally spend our life doing what we want instead of having to go through decades of work many people hate simply to keep a roof over our heads and food on our plates. I can't wait for robots to take our jobs so we can just do what we want instead of the drudgery of work

  • @audreyh6628

    This is one of the most depressing things I've ever seen. It reminds me of an article I read a few years ago about computer interface psychology, where a program would try to 'guide you' through CBT. A woman quoted said having a computer tell her why her life 'had meaning' made her more depressed than she's ever been.
    I'm also quite tired of these people in highly skilled jobs, who have no risk of being replaced in their lifetime, telling us these things are only going to 'augment' the skills humans already have. Why don't you go and tell that to all the Uber drivers?

      o O 0 Decreasing population? You're joking right? there has been 4.5 billion people born just since 1800s. We aren't slowing down

    • @jonah4196
      @jonah4196 7 лет назад +7

      In developed countries, the working population is decreasing (see: Japan). The overall world population is going up because of incredibly high birth rates in undeveloped and developing countries like India and in many African countries.

    • @beaal5641
      @beaal5641 7 лет назад

      Population is only increasing and it will stabilize and not proceed to increase past a certain point. This has already been proven. Also developing countries have population increases not decreases due to better living conditions than they use to have meaning people don't die as fast. Not sure where you're getting your information from but it is wrong I'm afraid.

    • @MetallicReg
      @MetallicReg 7 лет назад +3

      He is not wrong. The birth rates in all developed countries are *far* below the required 2,1 per woman to sustain a constant population.
      The main growth takes place solely in the developing countries which have weak economics and a mix of ideologies that require a higher reliance on the family.
      The longevity does not neutralize this fact - it only defers the effect. Germany, for instance, would already shrink for 30 years if not for the migration waves from Turkey + Greek + Italian guest workers (which stayed after the work was done), russian-Germans (return to the country), old-Yugoslavians (war refugees/migrants), and now Syrian refugees (of which many will stay). The core German population is shrinking - and all migrant rates shrink too after assimilation.
      This is no coincidence - Germany is the source for the baby pill. The statistics show that all European countries follow the exact same path with around 10-year delay.
      The US is a bit of an exception - they have still a broad religious/conservative view on the family in many of their regions which keeps their birthrate fairly high (but lower than needed with 1,8).
      PS: However, Japan is a quite bad example because their birth rate is highly influenced by their restrictive culture and a huge economic pressure. They are technically bankrupt for years and keep stretching out the situation till they crash hard. Sons can't afford to live alone - this is not a good foundation for building a family.

    Solution: take care of our own families like humans should. Also, have more kids. I just think its weird how our society creates these problems.

    • @Balthazar2242
      @Balthazar2242 7 лет назад

      Hi!
      What I meant was that in my culture in the US don't really care for our own parents and grandparents like we should and instead put priority on our own immediate family. Obviously it's not like everyone can incorporate them into their lives for various reasons, but as a culture I think we could do better to care for them rather than sending them off to nursing homes and paying someone else to love them, if them makes sense.
      And I disagree that _over_population is a problem. In fact, I think in many cases _under_ population is a problem, or skewed demographics that is. For instance, in Japan there is a dangerous elderly to youth ratio that will make caring for them very difficult, and in China there is a dangerous female to male ratio that causes all sorts of problems (all this due to aggressive cultural pressures and government regulated population control). Our demographics skewing makes caring for the elderly a problem, as well as causing a lot of other problems.
