  • Prominent conservationist and Aspinall Foundation Chairman Damian Aspinall speaks out about the lies of the zoorocrats and the incredible challenge of rewilding two captive-born lion brothers from the UK.
    The brothers - 16-month-old Azi and 11-month-old Zazu - travelled from Howletts Wild Animal Park early May 2022 to the dramatic bushveld landscapes of South Africa.
    Azi and Zazu were born at the Aspinall Foundation's partner site, Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve, but were both sadly rejected by the pride in infancy and were transferred to Howletts to be hand-raised by the dedicated Howletts team.
    Under the team’s care, Azi and Zazu flourished and became firm favourites
    around the park. However, The Aspinall Foundation and their partners at
    Howletts and Port Lympne are committed to a shared belief that, where
    possible, animals deserve the opportunity to live in the wild.
    Led by this deep conviction, The Aspinall Foundation worked closely with the team at Howletts and our overseas partners to find Azi and Zazu a safe, new home.
    Their destination was a specialist sanctuary run by Love Lions Alive in Free
    State province. They are now roaming an area ten times the size of their
    former enclosure and have settled into their new surroundings fantastically;
    running, stalking and playing as all lions should, in their ancestral homeland.
    Damian Aspinall and the team are working on the next stage of Azi & Zazi's rewilding and will keep supporters updated on their progress.

    I think humans are evolving to the point that seeing animals in zoos make most of us sad.

    I’ve been lucky to grow up in Canterbury and had many trips to Howletts in my childhood. In adulthood I’ve seen how your wildlife parks have evolved to improve animal welfare and the successful breeding programmes. You’ve done amazing work with your various projects to re-wild captive animals and it’s heartening to see you wanting to take the next step to further improve the quality of life for all captive animals.

    I want to apologize to all the animals I looked at in cages over the years thinking it was okay for them to be there. Especially the tiger in the Bronx Zoo whose tortured soul I still remember. And the bear in the pit at Bear Mountain, NY, whose stunted life was written in the air around him.

    There is absolutely no need for any types of zoos of any size anywhere in the world. Rehabilitation centres with the intention of eventual release I agree with. With the high definition cameras we have today, filming animals in the wild is sufficient enough for our need for knowledge.

  • @Sabotage_Labs
    @Sabotage_Labs Год назад +3

    I have to agree and have been saying this for a while. With technology now I just don't see a reason to keep these wild animals in cages for our amusement. Especially to big cats, chimps, gorilla and many others. Ever see the big cats in a zoo pacing back and forth? That's a great deal of anxiety. They have millions of years of evolution telling them they need huge areas.... territories to patrol and wander about. They don't understand why they are anxious. It just seems cruel now.

    I agree with you all animals should not be kept in a "zoo" but were possible should be reintroduced back to live a wild life as long as the habitat exsists and that they can be protected from inhuman wildlife crime.

    Back in Philippines we had a monkey came home with us. It fallowed ly family after a trip from the jungle/mountain. She stayed with us for awhile. We never caged or tied her. Our ancestral home is in the country side. It has so many trees front and back yard. And there's a stream/river behind it. It's like a jungle there. Our town is near by a mountain. We played with her every day and her favorite tree was the Mango tree. One day she just left. I think she missed her family. Unfortunately that mountain is now heavily deforested. And the lake near it that we went to often fish at dried up.

    • @fransthefox9682

      There are many bad zoos, yes, but there are also good ones. Good zoos don't cage them, they don't capture them from the wild, and they actually came from them. And when the time comes, release them into their natural habitat.
      But you will not believe me anyway.

    I never liked the zoo. Even when I was very little. I always wanted to let them go back to their homes, where they belong.
    Pet stores bother me as well. I want to open the bird cages and let them all go. The same with the others.
    It's inhumane to be used.

    • @fransthefox9682

      Not all zoos are like that.
      I noticed that people love animal parks. But if it has the word "zoo" in it, they will automatically hate it.

      @@earthling8585 Often animal parks are basically just zoos. It seems like people only hate zoos if they have the name "zoo" in it. If it has a different name, people won't hate it, unless the animals are treated badly.
      If it has the name zoo, no matter how good care the animals get, people will always hate it.

    I come from a country where (exotic) native birds are free. It breaks my heart to see them here... Stuck with humans or dying from the freezing winter weather if they escape.
    There are too many humans everywhere and most are dysfunctional.
