Best advise I was giving as a child coming up was not practice make perfect but practice make permanent . Cause if it’s done wrong over and over than it isn’t perfect but permanent . That has stuck with me for a lifetime. I always strive to keep the details accurate for that reason. PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT. I really appreciate your videos. Really good stuff and high quality advise. But that’s my opinion
I am a Ag Teacher what mainly I teach is welding. I tell my students everyday to get good at welding you have to practice. I teach it but I set aside time for my self to practice welding, cutting what ever maybe so it will show in my students they know what they are doing. My main goal is to better my students lives if a career in welding will do it I want it for them. I am not a pipeliner by no means just a farm welder your videos give me little more insight of what skills I need to teach.Keep up the good work.
Keep teaching it!
So many schools phasing out industrial technology type classes, and they are needed more now!
Aron, I'm not a welder or iron worker, I'm just an old carpenter from Maine. I'm finishing up my 47th year of pounding nails and want to continue but my health problems have me sitting on the couch for the past 4 months and there may not be any more work in my future. I'm only 67 and I'm not ready to stop.
You talk about learning something new every day and always keep learning. You are spot on with both of those sayings. If a person feels they can't learn anything new today, they have a problem and need to dig deeper into their brain.
I have learned so much from the young guys on new tools and methods of doing things and they have learned a lot of the "old" ways from me.
I love your videos and your attitude.
You sir have figured out how to help the welding community out while making money doing it!! Well done my friend 👍🇺🇸
Thank you man. I could not agree more. I like to call it "muscle memory" .... you talking about picking up something everyday. You bet. That is good advice. Good to see that you are staying busy. Happy welding!
Thanks for sharing with us Austin, LOTS of great information in your videos. Sure wish I was younger and healthier but I can still enjoy and use the information you share with us weekly. Stay safe and keep and keep up the good work and videos. Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
@ 6:08 that was some beautiful cutting, Austin. You really make that stuff look easy as can be, I'm loving how your channel keeps on growing and improving, buddy. Keep at it!
"Learn something every day".
Amen!
We just completed a similar entry way. Ours had two 5-inch pipes 24-feet long bent in parallel crescents mounted on 8-inch uprights 16 - feet @ center with the ranch name welded @ center in 12 - inch steel letters. We used a mini excavator to hold it while we welded it to the upright sections in concrete 6-ft deep.
It was a butt kicker.
Wow that’s going to look pretty dang cool once it gets stood up in the air! Your advice this week is spot on! Keep up the good work and work hard and be safe!
Hey Austin, I'm from Branson, MO and was traveling to Texas to see my family for the first time since covid, and I saw you driving your truck today near Stroud, OK. I thought it was pretty cool, and got a little to excited like a child in a candy store
I use left over job prints and lay out the saddle or whatever and then cut the template out with scissors and put the template on the pipe, mark it and cut it, seems to be easier and quicker.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks for your time.
I agree with you that practice is always needed till the end of your time. Thanks
Looks good brother love the fab work be safe out there and keep on welding
PERFECTION IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION.
Hey austin.....great video as always. I was just looking through my new blue book and i saw an interesting bit on making shapes with angle iron. it was detailing how to measure the offsets to cut the V out of the angle to then bend and weld. the formula was.... width-wall thickness x tan(angle)..... as i read this i recalled how you previously cut some square tubing to make bases for something and how you weren't exactly happy with the result. I think the same formula would apply to tube(although you might need to subtract two wall thicknesses?). Using the above formula, you could cut two V's and two half V's in a single long piece of tube and then bend them into your isosceles triangle to weld. this might make a nice project video and would demonstrate that formula in the blue book and how to use it re: layout and such....just a thought......always appreciate your videos.
Another great job. Nice to have your dad with you.
You do awsone work. I just have a suggestion on the 45s lining up better. Build the entry first, then layout your angles. That way they line up perfect every time, it still looks awsome. You are very talented, keep it up love the channel.
This is going to be One Hellacious Main Entrance. One great item for your resume of things built.
I love your content. it is very helpful with many situations and jobs I find myself doing. it is also really good for helping me with mistakes that I make.
Thanks Austin.
Enjoyed the video.
Great videos, I'm a Master Electrician by trade and do "some" welding, definitely helps seeing how it's supposed to be done. In one state it's 16,000hrs of trade experience to be able to take the Master Electrician test.
Nothing is perfect, it’s an illusion of perfection!!!
This is a pretty cool project I love watching these videos
Customer will not regret the slightly wider opening!
If he needs to run farm equipment thru it, 12 feet isn't near wide enough.
If it is close to the road, and it takes a 90 degree turn to get it, 12 foot isn't wide enough for your 1 ton and trailer, let alone a semi.
I'd recommend 16 foot clearance minimum as well.
Keep improving the new folks skills Austin!!!!
Us old farts need replaced! And these young folks are so much smarter, book wise,, your training will help them along!!
God bless you I enjoy all your builds and videos. Thank you. 🙏
Great job!
My uncle, who was both a welder and an inspector, always told me that I would never get good at welding until I've burnt ten thousand rods. I agree and I tell the same thing to all my helpers who have a desire to breakout into welding.
Thank you for another great video Austin .
You bet. Thank you for watching
Looks good..!
I always look forward to your videos. Great job!
Thank you for your knowledge and advice
Mark my words, there WILL come a day when that 12' gate is 3" shy to get some big piece of equipment thru. It Never fails. In this case, Bigger Is Better.
Great content Mr. Welder. I watch your channel off and on. I have never stick weld yet, but looks good the way you do it.
Man your videos are the best and full of useful information . I love what you do it's just awsome and your great at it. Awsome choice of music to btw it's perfect for the video.
Practice makes progress!
Love your chanel Austin! Me and my girlfriend watch your videos all the time and we made plans to make an entrance like that on our property!
Time the great leveller. I do enjoy metal fabrication work but don't always have the time or money to be able to do it. I do want to be a better welder but the former still applies. At least watching guys like yourself I can stick two pieces of metal together. Function over beauty.
I cannot wait for this series. I absolutely loved your other pipe entrance videos and we are all looking forward to it Austin, keep up the good work brotha!! Fridays don’t come soon enough :(
Where did you get your pocket sleeve for your shirt pocket
Great looking Entrance good job dude
Great video,,,,,always learning useful tip from your video!
Surely you must have cope pattern for different size pipes you can just chalk around instead of marking out as it would be much faster 5/6/7/8"pattern!! As it is only a fence NOT a gas line. Wrap it with a bit of 2mm sheet tack it to a slide fit and instant pattern.
2000 times sounds reasonable to me. I know I'll never have the time to practice welding to get good but I hope by watching your videos I can get by with what I need to on the farm. If I'm unsure I hire a professional! I been raising cattle for 30 years and still don't know if all! Like you say, learn something every day!
The honing of the skill.
youre the guy man
Looks good C'mon
Very good video and thank you for saying how long it took you to make. As far as the 2000 times of doing something, I heard 10,000 hours of practice to master something whether it is being a welder, pilot, electrician etc. So I can agree with your 2000 times.
Get you a helper bud!
Never exposed to 8010 back in the mid 70’s in high school working at welding and machine shop. Do they start and run any cleaner than the 6010, 6011 & 6013 rods?
Looks great man. I just started my channel and you n others got me to do it I enjoy all of yur videos. Hope to make some good videos like you
Thanks! Congrats on starting your channel!! I’m subscribed! Looking forward to more videos!!!
@@arosswelding it not the best yet. But just something I’m doing for now on the east till I start back on the rig.
What goes on inside your head when that hood is down and youre burning rods?
For me peaceful thoughts flow through thats just calming
Thinking about how to start my buisness, recently a girl xD
looks good to me so far you know i don't say much till you buid the whole thing .i see you finaly thinking about getting a set of templets LEE makes the best set it'll save a lot of time now that you done explaned how more than once ok A we'll see until next time good to see you bussy
Hey "A" Man, more great stuff. 10,000 hrs to become proficient in a trade. Thats 5 yrs every day. I always tell the new mechanics " The first rule of welding, is to get comfortable." Hood down lights on.
You make cutting with a torch look easy 😩
Hey Austin, does the blue book cover layouts for in between sizes of pipes for example 5 1/2" or 6 5/8" pipe?
How did you calculate the length of the bottom horizontal to get the 45’s to line up perfectly?
I’ve been told 10 years or 10,000 hours to become an expert in anything.
Hello! Just out of curiousity, how is the fire-safty dealt with on a work like this? Over here in Finland we have demands on watchmen, amount of extinguishers, safty plans (if needed) and guarding. I just noticed that there are not so many extinguishers on the truck and you are sometimes welding in quite dry places, or so it seems. Sorry if the language is "off", I live in swedish and finnish...
Good videos young man.
That client of yours spent some $$$ on pipe.
Rollers woulda helped for me anyway Great Videos!!
Have a question, what brand of knee pads do you use ? I have tried I cannot tell you how many different brands still yet to find ones that are comfortable and dont cut into your leg in the back terrible.
Where do you get your acetylene supplies from? ( I live in the okc metro btw)
Heard anything about the non stick 7018 rods ?
What did do you mainly use welding fence up
I like the rule of 10,000. If you spend 10,000 hrs on something you should be very good at it. whether it's playing football, cooking, or welding.
Great video as always. Had a question though, what lenses are you using that in that hood?
Practice makes perfect, but only if it's perfect practice.
For a project like this. Why do you use 6010/8010 vs a 7018?
How’d you get started Austin? I got something going but man I feel like I’m not having luck. I get a lot of people asking me what it cost I tell them then they go and get up charged higher than what I cost.
Keep doing what you do! Its all helpful! Question, do you have any drafting or scale drawing experience? Learning how to draft to scale really helped eleimante the unknown issues in my projects. I also use a cad program called Vectorworks to draft in 3D. I can draft a 3d image of anything, with measurements to scale with it. I'd be more than happy to generate some construction drawings for your projects any time!
Will you please shoot me an email with your info please.
Arosswelding@gmail.com
Scott, have you heard of viaCAD....I saw it at office depot for 75$. I was looking for a design program for MAC to draw a gate, carport, trellis, and deck substructure. any recommendations that are reasonably priced for a hobbyist?
@@arosswelding will do. Ill send some examples of my drafting and rendering as well.
@@peetky8645 I have not. I only get to use the Vectorworks software because of my proximity to a .edu email. Otherwise its $2000. Sketchup used to be free, and there are a few other cad programs out there that are free, but i cant speak to their usage. I know VW from my previous industry, welding scenic pieces for theater and opera, so I just stuck with it.
@@SkillIssueShynes good times...thank you for responding. take care.
Hey I am trying to start pipe fence welding when I bid a job do I buy the metal or does the customer thank you
How do you get your pricing on what your building to if your repairing
still here keep talkin
What are those little doodads you attach to your straight edge
What umbrella do you use im building a service truck hat umbrella looks good thank you always good and detailed videos
This one is just a Lapco but you should look into Pipeliners cloud. They make a real good 9 foot one.
How is that Dodge working? For you
👍🏻👍🏻
Do you ever paint those fences to do something about the rust?
Can you do a video on the grasshopper ?
i always heard that drill pipe was slightly radioactive after being used .. which is why they took it off little league base ball fields.
Sir when doing projects like this do you have someone on fire watch for you?
I'm out there with him with bladder full of dosequis usually up to a case with a fire hose that sprays 35 psi
Do you have any videos or classes on using the bluebook?
I’ve got a couple videos on the blue book
ruclips.net/video/UBH0DPYCjtw/видео.html
Oh yee
Perfect practice makes perfect , another words you can practice wrong as much as you want and it won't make it better
Looking good Austin! Is this entrance supposed to be a Rakkasan torri?
No but it looks similar don’t it.
@@arosswelding sure does! I was with the Rakkasans for 8 years 94-02, that's why I was wondering 👌
How much something like this cost?
Why 8010, is what you had?
How much would you charge someone for this
You think that Gen pole will lift up a welder
For sure a small gas machine Lincoln gxt, Miller bobcat ect but I’m not sure about one like mine…🤔
If you use heavier wall pipe and put a stiffener plate on the top side and use a heavier winch or chain fall then yes, it would lift a machine like mine.
It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert at anything. That's the most often repeated statistic.
I've mastered nothing then!

Austin I sent you a message on Instagram asking about course for military, hopefully you see it
Its the 10,000 hour rule.. I heared it at Alux videos.. also 20% effort to do 80% of work.. 20/80 rule..
