Is it possible to balance the audio levels? Turned up to hear you talk then the music was extremely loud. If I weren't watching at work might not be an issue.
I've been racing off/on since the late 90's and since I don't race much anymore I live vicariously through content like this. I'm 6'3" and usually 195-205lbs and have a similar power profile to you. I've also gotten dropped on longish climbs on road races. Back in 2001 I was doing the collegiate road nationals road race and the US Air Force Academy was hosting in Colorado Springs. There was a good size climb that we had to repeat a few times. Each time I hit the climb at the base I made sure I was around the 5th position or so (out of 100+ riders in the field). As we went up the climb I gave my full effort but slowly drifted to the back. By the top I was either in the field, or close enough to chase back on the decent. This kept me in the race where I would have otherwise gotten dropped. You should give it a try.
Keep the content coming man. I feel like our adventures started off in a similar place. 250+ last year, weighing in high 190s now. Riding with the locals, ripping it up daily. Inspiring stuff bro, and the Starbucks juice hack is next level 😂
EJ, I've been riding about 5 years now (most of the time way less focussed on targeted training than you). In the beginning I did much better with short surges than long efforts. I think it just takes time for the body to get used to that. You can build muscle pretty quickly but to change the whole digestion - circulation -respiration loop, it just takes time. Nice one is, that helps with so many sports, be it running, rowing, cross country skying etc. Once you have a good engine, you can rely on it.
Awesome awesome placing for your first road race! Not sure how much longer I can put off subscribing to that training plan. And it's hella cool seeing Bay Area scenes with NC1 and NC2!
Its really funny to watch that, because i usually do road races (swiss alps, many long sustained climbs like "passo stelvio") and i just recently had my first crit and i got roasted so hard, haha :D
love the Video! am I the only one that has to turn up to hear you speak but then get my ears blown out by the music? never noticed it till today. Cheers
Hey EJ/editor! I feel like the music is much louder than the dialogue sometimes, would be nice to equalize it a bit! Thanks and keep up the great content!
Ya! Sorry about that! :) my headphones sound good but sometimes I rush and forget to check audio levels if people are listening through speakers. Will fix!
Hahahaha whoopsie 😂 and yeah! The headphones I edit with might be a bit too nice because they balance audio super well. So it’s hard to hear how the balance sounds for people who are listening through speakers. So I just need to go the extra step and edit through the speakers at the end just to check! I appreciate the feedback!
i dont think that a 30sec climb if a FTP effort,more like vo2 effort.other then that,great content man,fun to see you improve.and please,PLEASE,dont call them "long" climbs :)
Super tough road race for a first time, so much fun doing it with you!

Not having the same issue on Samsung phone
For an unrelated reason, can I have your boss’s email address?
Same here, music is way too loud and I can barely hear them talk. I have to keep adjusting to audio level.
Also had the same issue. Don’t think the brand of phone has anything to do with audio levels
That’s what happens when you push content for yourself and someone else. Hopefully he takes the feedback.

Okay! Thank you so much for sharing and for the advice!!!

Let’s go!! That’s so amazing! 🙌🙌🙌
I need my daily dose of EJ! Keep it coming.

Loving the daily vlogs! Appreciate the work you put in for this content. Can't wait to see your downhill adventure

Cool video 👍 I’d suggest when describing the watts or effort required give the w/kg as that is good indicator across different rider weights
Watching this makes me wish UK road races were on closed roads. Looks fun, but I don't want to die...
Excellent. Looking forward to the full video in a few days. Keep this great content coming.
Which camera are you using? Is it the Gopro 11 mini?
Was thinking of buying a camera myself as well for cycling and surfing
Your wife is hilarious! She said 😂 run that back again, this ain't pimp yo crib lol
I love the race kit would love to get one for this.
We are working on finalizing designs! 🤙
Defs don’t calm down (from the intro), love seeing the energy and excitement!
I liked the energy of the first intro
Right??? 😂

No you’re not! Haha will fix for future episodes! Thank you :)
Awesome work EJ keep it up!
Hey EJ, next January or whenever CTC1 has its one year anniversary you should reattempt CTC 3000, just to see your development!
I’m down :)
What category did you race it in, ej? I'm assuming cat3.
So Sea Otter has A,B,C categories for this race. So I did B and it was a lot of CAT 2, and 3s

Wonder when EJ decides to cut hair to reduce drag 😂
Hold on can we talk about the elephant in the room... That NorCal Cycling Jersey! Where can I snag one of those bad boys.
We working on making a final product! 🙌 just testing things atm! But glad you like!
Yep i was thinking why are you on the front for so long?!, also the audio is low compared to the music

EJ, we're all waiting for your debut at Hellyer
Ruh roh…track is scary 😂
Love the honesty haha the pre race poo is important
😂😂😂
Dude never calm down I love the stoke !! 🤙🏼
🙌🙌🙌
SoC is a toughie with a lot of hitters from far and wide. the lack of USAC and self selected cats isnt ideal.
Sick B roll
350 normalized?? Legend!

Wait, so crits aren't on the road? Mind blown 🤯
🤪😂
Most people get dropped on their first ever road race. Humiliation is the best motivation.
