  • A cruciferous vegetable and superfood, Kale is full of antioxidants, vitamin C, enzymes, contains cancer-fighting properties and more.
    Learn how to dehydrate kale the fast and super easy way and why you have to try it!
    Here's the dehydrator I LOVE thebiblicalnut... or check it out on Amazon amzn.to/2wHUdGh
    Today, I want to share with you why you should be dehydrating Kale and how to do it. All right. Just that simple. Number one, you should be dehydrating Kale because it's a cruciferous vegetable and you can hear me talk about that in other videos and it's so nutritious. It's a super food in my category anyway, and it's so simple. It's easy and anyone can do it. All right, let's talk about it. I'm Annette Reeder, the biblical nutritionist, and I'm on mission to help you be confident in your cooking, therefore confident with your future health and most importantly confident and understanding that God loves you. All right, let's get started. So on my tray here, I have a mixture of some Kale and some spinach leaves. Now my kale kind of wilted trying to get started on this video, but my spinach leaves still look pretty good.
    This is actually some baby Kale, so a little tinder's shoots that I have growing in my garden. And then this is some spinach as well. All you have to do is just throw it on the tray. That's it. Well, okay, wash it first. You don't even have to dry it. You can kind of pat it dry, but you don't have to worry about it if he had super dry because you're going to dehydrate it. All right, so just put it on your tray. You could even have it layered if you want to. There are times when I d hydrated Kale that I had the whole tray full, and then you can just put one tray on top of another tray on top of another tray and turn it on and by morning you have dried Kale. All right, so here is a tray that I did yesterday so you can see it's all dried up.
    You'll notice I still have the stems attached and because they're just as nutritious, but a lot of times when you buy Kale in the store, you don't want to eat this down is because they're too hard. They're too to fibrous even for me. So then once you have your Kale dehydrated, just pour it into a bowl. It doesn't look like very much does it? When you fill a tray up and then dehydrated, it definitely shrinks down. Now realize when you dehydrate, you are saving all of the nutritional value. All of you did was get rid of the water content, so it's not very much in my bull as you can see, so I'm just going to crunch that up with my hands. Some people don't like the stems. I do cause most of the time we're throwing this in smoothies anyway.
    If you can make it as big or as fine as you want and almost looks like it disappeared because I crunched it up. This is one of my mason jars that I am storing my dehydrated Kale and you can kind of, Oh wow, that shirt a smell good. I was going to use my canning funnel on top of that. I'm just going to pour my dehydrated Kale in here and that's it. That's it. Okay. Super, super easy. Fast economical. You'll save so much money on your food budget if you have a dehydrator. That's how simple it is. You put it in the tray, you turn it on overnight in the morning you wake up, you had dehydrated Kale Wallah. Put it in the bowl, then put it in your jar, make sure it's sealed air tight and you are good to go. I have probably six or seven court jars in my pantry with dehydrated Kale.

    Thanks. I planted more kale than I could possibly eat: I never realized how productive it is! Now I have a great idea of how to preserve it, thanks to your video.

    Thank you for this video. After it is dehydrated I put it in the blender and make a fine powder. I dehydrate and powder kale, spinach, moringa, and collard greens. I have not ventured passed those yet. I use the greens in my smoothies along with some frozen fruits.

    What kind of lid are you using and where can I buy them? Also, how long will it store like that and would I need an oxygen absorber? Thank you for your videos. How you teach and the foods you suggest are how my family eats, I just needed to learn other ways to use them:) Yahweh bless you and your family

    Do you recommend blanching before dehydrating the kale?

    • @brightstar4christ
      @brightstar4christ Год назад

      Blanching reduces oxalates and goitrogens which can disrupt the thyroid. I'm going to do it that way.

      You can use oil, but the dehydrated veg with oil added is not shelf stable. You would want to use it soon after making it. It also will not powder well. I make both. Some for kale chips with good on it and some very plain for long term storage.

    Whats the difference from a hydrator and air fryer in maintaining benefits?

    • @TheBiblicalNutritionist
      @TheBiblicalNutritionist  3 месяца назад

      That depends on how you are using the air fryer
      If you use it as a dehydrator then they are the same
      If you add oil, then it depends on what oil used.
      Too many variables to give short answer.
      Blessings
