A Budget Switch Pro-Style Controller that's Customizable?!?

- I picked up a fun controller concept this weekend at GameStop called the Candy Con, which features fully customizable sticks, d pads, and face plates. It's a GameStop brand, produced by Geeknet, but there's some serious promise here. Controller would natively on Switch and PC via the included dongle. All told, the base unit controller, faceplate, sticks, and d-pads ran me around $50.
Wanted to show off an unboxing and setup, with a full review later this month.
Right off the bat, in hand the controller has good weight and I like the feel of the sticks and d pads. Not a HUGE fan of the positioning of the Start and Minus buttons being on the bottom of the controller, and the smoothness of the faceplate is off-putting, but there's some promise here. - Игры
The thumbsticks in the controller uses K-Silver JH16 modules. It's considered to be one of the best hall effect modules on the market currently. Unlike the thumbsticks that most modern controllers have now days, hall effect thumbsticks are contactless, which means that they last a lot longer and it all but eliminates controller drift issues. The most common way for these things to get drift problems is if you absolutely wreck the controller and get a bunch of food, liquids, or other debris in them.
They are _silky smooth_ in game. I'm REALLY impressed thus far!
D-pad leaves a bit to be desired, but I probably just need to get used to it. :)
Triggers use hall effect sensors too. Not to mention, over the long term when the battery can't hold a charge, it's socketed to the motherboard so it's user replaceable compared to being soldered in.
This caught my eye too, The gamestop employee convinced me and I dont regret it!
This looks very cool
I sub to every channel that gives this an honest and positive review. I also go through your entire library of video and give all of them a thumbs up.
I’m getting one!
Ok that is really neat
I do think the modular aspect of this is very cool, but it overall looks very “knockoff.” The form factor looks a little clunky to hold in the hands but I’m speaking without being able to hold it, if this was a more budget option I could see this being a popular item in comparison to other name brand controllers
I will say it's quite comfortable to hold and doesn't feel clunky at all. The buttons, sticks, d-pad, and triggers are VERY nice, but I can definitely see the 'knockoff' aspect of things - the faceplate in particular is disappointing since it just looks and feels...cheap? Bad? I don't know the right word - but it's smoothness makes me think of something from a dollar store instead of something I got at a legit retail establishment. I want to see if there's any faceplates that have a matte finish with a texture to it because I think that would be significantly nicer.
Thank for checking out the short!
I picked one up this weekend, its incredible tbh. I was expecting cheap and clunky also. Holy cow was i wrong, Fits great in the hands, also has Hall effect sensors for the sticks so they wont get drift as quick or at all.
@@SquarePegs i definitely think the fact that it’s shiny orange isn’t doing any favors, also the very flat appearance just looks weird
I have the chili red faceplate, and it has a matte finish
@@SquarePegsI got the cyan blast faceplate and it is matte which I think looks a lot better than the glossy.
these things are trash. stay away from them.
No lie, you're the first person who's commented to say so. 🤷♂️
fake meltdown comment
Dude trashing these things on every video 😂
Sounds like a bot. Says trash but don't say how
