I've been there. that year. the crowd took a while to get warmed up and Hansi was saying something along the lines of the crowd being shocked at the loss of his hair. 😂 but as you can see, the energy got there in time for the hymn of Wacken. you can just start singing the song on the campground, whether guardian plays this year or not, and the people around are going to join in.
This brings back so many memories! I first listened to TBS in the early 90s in a school bus, when a friend brought his Discman and a new CD🖤🖤🖤 Somewhere far beyond is still one of their best Albums! Hansi is just so amazing!

Blind Guardian is so good. They have been on tour in the US. I follow them on Facebook and it looks like they have been playing to full capacity crowds. Though, it astonishes me that the venues are relatively small, compared to what they would probably play in Europe. If only the music industry didn't have such a stranglehold on what we do, and do not, hear in the US.
I'm glad they are touring here in the US. Yeah, we suck. It's not just the industry but the mentality here. Iron Maiden is one of the biggest bands in the world. They typically play venues of 80 to 120,000 all over the world- except here. Lady Gaga has famously said she wishes she was like Maiden to be able to draw crowds of that magnitude. The music scene is much more vibrant in Europe and Japan than here.
I went to a show of Ensiferum, Pain, Eleine and Ryujin in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on a Tuesday night and the place was packed! It was crazy @@BemusingBill
Yeah no Blind Guardian live is just magical, I was able to sing the Bard's Song with the bards last sunday. Finally made my dream come true and after coming home I felt like the concert was just a dream.
I was there! My last big festival/concert I attended. BG are the gods of Power Metal. Best served live, so much better than the often sanitized studio versions!
A band performing live is like a wild animal let loose! They feed off the crowd which adds so much more than any studio recording. Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘

Ah Nightfall In Middle Earth my beloved, I finally read The Silmarillion because of that album and I adore the album even more now. I got to Túrin's chapter and just played Harvest of Sorrow on loop as soon as I realised which song connected to the story.
