Hi everyone! I just bought this software and am so excited to see where this takes me as an author. I will be writing a series, and really needed something that would save me time and heartache. Writing in Word has been a nightmare for me and I can't get back the huge amount of hours I spent trying to figure out all the frustrating setbacks in formatting. I did publish my first book already, but as a novice writer, I needed to make a lot of corrections. This software is going to help me tremendously in time and effort. I had a horrible time trying to correct all the section breaks and page breaks once I made all the corrections in my first book. I thank God I did my research and found Atticus! No more Word writing for me!
Very nice update. I especially love the ability to preview my master pages to ensure everything's current. The new chapter analytics display is also looking good. Here's to hoping for chapter/book comparison graphs in the near future. The new design is definitely a thumb up from me.
It's for creating a series. So if you have a trilogy all written and formatted in separate books in Atticus, for example, you can publish them individually but you can also combine them all together and publish them as a boxset of 3 eBooks. I hope that helps!
I see the new interface, but the Install App button does nothing. I assume the app needs to be updated if it was already installed with the old version?
I'm interested in buying Atticus. Only one question. Is ones purchase secure in the sense that Atticus will be around for along time? My concern is that since its web based - If Atticus closes down as a business the app will no longer work. Can we be sure that we will be able to use this for many years to come?
Great question! Atticus has no plans on going anywhere and the founders have been in the self-publishing industry already for many, many years (Kindlepreneur, Publisher Rocket). You will always be able to export your content to .docx for backups on your computer any time, and if anything ever changes, Atticus authors will have plenty of notice and support to migrate their content off the platform.
I did 'log out' then logged back in. Did the hard refresh. It still looks the same as always... is there a timeline for the updated look? Concerned about writing in it in the old version... should I be concerned? Thanks.

No, not currently, sorry. But I mentioned in another comment that you can export form Scrivener to .docx, but we recommend then going through our tutorial to prepare your document for importing into Atticus. Scrivener uses a lot of custom styles, depending on how you've set up your project, and Atticus isn't programmed to recognize all of them. The more simple you can keep your docx, the better it will typically import, allowing you to do the formatting work inside Atticus. I hope that helps!
How does Atticus handle 'widows & orphans' and also can the PDF output be configured properly with industry-standard settings, for different digital presses for instance?
There is a setting to automatically control for Widows and Orphans and yes, the PDFs work for all major publishers and distributors. If you're using a specialty press they may or may not have specifics that Atticus doesn't account for, but our files will work for KDP, IngamSpark, etc.

I like Atticus, especially the one-time cost, but I still write in LivingWriter because Atticus, for me, doesn't fully seem to be ready for outlines and things that support ongoing writing. I Live for the day I can cancel my LivingWriter subscription and just use Atticus. I want to see mobile apps because I primarily write a lot on iPad Pro and the browser approach sometimes does not create the best experience.
It's likely to always bring foreign formatting, that's just the nature of working with different programs. You can paste without formatting, if that helps!

You can write and format a Spanish language book, and we're looking into options for the interface itself :-)
