Great top Jane! Looks really wonderful on you!! I love how we sewers can create our own style.WOW!! Congratulations on the weight loss!! I know how rewarding it is!! All the best!!
I have this pattern, but I haven't made it up yet. After watching this, I want to. I was wondering if I could make a facing for it instead of doing that binding. I might look into that. Your version looks amazing! I like how you added the length. Happy sewing!
Your tunic looks fab on you! I bet it feels great to select the smaller size, congratulations on reaching your 2.5 stone award 👏😁. You are looking great. Your tunic looks lovely paired with your crochet snug too. I'm going to place an order for one in the new year.. 😁. Your wilder gown is lovely. Having a black velvet bow will really make a difference. Look forward to seeing you in it with your changes. For your query about the clear elastic, I think you can still use it if you do it below the seam allowance so it doesn't get cut off. I had this issue before. But I do think that Tilly's books are for when you use a standard sewing machine as so many beginners use her books to start sewing. Have a lovely Christmas 😘
Hi Karen oh below the seam allowance that makes more sense now lol .... I’m still learning with jersey but it’s fun trying. Happy Christmas to you too 😘
Congratulations! That's fabulous weight loss. You must be feeling so good about yourself 😀 I think you're really good at choosing patterns that suit you and fit your style. Necklines on stretch can be a pain. Sometimes I use stretch bias tape. I measure the neckline and use 85% of that measurement plus 2 cm. Stitch the ends together then at a 1 cm seam. I have come across other people using non-stretch bias binding on a stretch scoop neck like you did here and I can see how it would prevent gaping and sagging. I use iron on interfacing tape from Prym or Prym edge tape. They're basically the same. If a neckline does not need to stretch to go over your head, I staystitch and attach the tape to the neckline, then continue with the binding or facing. I use it on shoulder seams and stitch right along the middle of it. I don't have an overlocker but I think you could do that. The overlocker would remove half but not all of it. You can also use it on your hem. Stitch to the edge, turn up your hem, press so the tape glues your hem in place then stitch the hem. It is a roll of tape about 1 cm thick. You can use it to stabilise any stretch seam that needs to hold its shape.
@@TheDressmakersCloset I keep getting more and more sewing stuff in but that tape is useful. Of course you could just cut a strip of any fusible interfacing really. Jayne, I sent you a message on fb, could you have a look?
I love that top Jayne - it is just so you! I sew loads of knits and use fusible stabilising tape on the back shoulders. I iron it on few mm in front of the edge so it is picked up when I overlocker. And yes you should overlock. I personally would have put on a neck band, although it looks great as you have done it. ❤️❤️ You have done so well with your weight loss - congrats on getting to 2.5 stone - here’s to your 3! 👏👏👏👏❤️
Loopy Mabel's Closet Hi Jayne, iron it in about 1/2 inch from the actual edge of the fabric - that way it will be sewn on by the overlocker but not totally cut off by it. I use 1cm fusible stay tape, and it always works ❤️
Hi Jayne, imo, I think the sleeves on the Wilder are too short - I wonder if you added the same ruffle that's at the neck, how that would look. So, just thought I'd add my two cents to your wardrobe decisions;) I really like the Kimono tee, it looks great with the black turtleneck. Merry Christmas to you!
Hi .... no I really appreciate your opinion and I never thought it could be the sleeves that are the problem 🤔 I’m growing to like it and will try it again with a different fabric and perhaps back to the original sleeves ... merry Christmas 🎄😘
Hey Jayne, love your top and a massive Congratulations on your SW award! Your weight loss is amazing, I really need to go back in the New Year to shift a couple of stone too 🙋🏼♀️😱xx
I love your pattern alterations ( the longer tunic). Killer boots to wear with Red. Congrats on your award!!!

Hi Sandra .... oh thanks for those tips I’ve never used that stretch bias tape before. I must get some of that prym tape too 🧵😘

Hi Lynne, thank you so much .... do I put the tape below the sewing line or above? How do you stop it being cut off with the overlocker? Jayne x
