    Welcome the side of the -Right Side- Other side of the Fan Divide. It's so glad to see others join in day by day.
    The Chaos games are my favourite of the series, with Child being my favorite , followed closely by NoAH. But the entire Franchise is just so good, it's hard to be picky. And regarding the plot summaries of the older yet translated games like, NoAH, i believe there was a really popular pastebin a few years ago, which did the summary really well, but was taken down later. Maybe some archive survived.

The characters, the plot, the themes, the writing and the use of time travel (seriously, the best I have seen!) Seriously, I love it! And this video of yours has helped introduce me to the other shows and visual novels in the franchise and from the studio SciADV. I've gotta be honest man. As good as Chaos Head Noah and Steins Gate and the rest of the scidav series are, for me at least, Chaos Child just blows them all out of the water. Not only is it the best scidav story, it's one of the best stories I've ever experienced period. Even if you don't end up liking Chaos Head Noah much, it's 100% worth it to read it just so that you can get to Chaos Child. Trust me.

    I just wanna quickly say my policy with “spoilers”. Talking in broad strokes about the overall plot of something I don’t really consider spoilers, otherwise it’d kinda be hard to talk about anything, so I won’t mark those sorts of spoilers.
    Regardless, in this video there aren’t really any major twists and reveals spoiled, outside of how Steins;Gate 0 links in.

    Great video! Chaos;head Noah is my favorite game (next to chaos;child) of the whole science adventure series and iam glad we finally get an english translation.
    Noah fixed all of my issues with the OG version and I really love the additional heroine routes. There is even new content in the common route and especially in the true ending. All of these changes are especially relevant for chaos;head love chu chu, which is a very funny "sequel".
    It established even more characterization for the heroines and is a nice addition for Noah.
    If you play/read chaos;head again, you can see a high mount of great foreshadowing in the entire game.
    Nearly every scene is is meaningful and well paced in my opinion.
    I definitely love all of the visual novels in the science adventure series, but robotics;notes Dash is the "weakest" entry in my opinion. It's still a good vn but I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous entrys.
    However, the last 3 hours are worth it.
    I hope they will fix Occult;nine.

    Watching this video made me realise that all these visual novels have finally got english translation and I can read them RIGHT NOW! I read Chaos;Head somewhere in 2013, the translation I had wasn't even complete, some chapters were in japanese. When Chaos;Child released I attempted to read it in original with my very limited knowledge of japanese but after spending several evenings reading text which amounts to 20-30 min of reading time I dropped the idea thinking it would be easier to wait 10 years for a translation and what do you know 10 years have passed and the translation is out, they even sell it on Steam (someone finally told the japanese publishers that it would be a good idea to sell their products outside Japan)

    Thank you for the time and care you put into this video. Steins;Gate has always been extremely important to me but like so many others I avoided the Chaos games and Robotic;notes games. I was ALWAYS one click away from buying either of them but the highs of steins;gate series are hard to match so I always passed them up. Well....its been a long time since steins;gate and I miss the writing, charm and overall world of the series but want something new. With ANONYMOUS;CODE coming out it really made me reconsider how I feel towards the science adventure series. It seems like the entire umbrella of games are full of quality writing and interesting concepts that I'm absolutely in love with. I feel ignorant for skipping over these games for so long but I'm 10 hours into A;C already and have the Chaos double pack coming today as well. Your video really helped me get a greater idea of the series and made it a much less nebulous concept as simply seeing "science adventure" and knowing things are kinda related to s;g never really sat well with me

      As an update I've finished Chaos;Head, Chaos;Child, and am about 75 percent done with Robotic;Notes. I said it before but I've been a huge fan of steins;gate for almost 10 years now and skipped over all these other entries like a fool. Head was brilliant even if the MC is a bit of a degen but holy shit Chaos;Child left me emotionally messed up for a week or two after the endings. I never thought something could reach the highs of Steins;Gate for me but Child managed to be equal to it if not surpass it in some ways. Robotic;Notes had me a little worried because everyone says how its a bit more mellow than the other games but R;N is up there for me in terms of characters, setting, and overall pace. I absolutely love the characters and as a huge fighting game enthusiast Kaitos little FGC quips tickle me in all the right spots. I genuinely love R;N in ways I didnt think I would and just finished phase 10 while taking my sweet time with it. I look forward to the sequel even if it misses the mark for so many. Once I finish DaSH Ill be done with all the mainline entries and will sadly have a giant hole in my heart but the last 4 months with this series has been an absolute pleasure and joy

    Heya! Just had this video linked to me, and anything involving my favorite series is an instant watch for me.
    Having watched it now, I want to say that you did a great job laying everything out, and I really appreciate such a comprehensive guide to the SciADV series, but there *are* a few things I'd like to say beyond that.
    To start off-just to clarify, Steins;Gate 0 and DaSH aren't actually mainline entries. They are fandiscs. The only mainline entries in the series are Chaos;Head NoAH, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, and Occultic;Nine. Yeah, last one's counted as mainline now, for whatever reason. Chiyomaru really wants to push it, I suppose, no matter how little sense it makes.
    Second, I saw that you were playing on console, and then you mentioned it further in, and that's pretty unfortunate for a couple reasons, especially for the original R;NE. The translations for this series have always been fairly dubious in quality-so much so that my team at the Committee of Zero has released patches for every single main entry-and while the R;NE TL is edited well for the most part, it's the worst translation we've got so far. There's a ton of issues with characterization, butchering of main series references and consistency, censorship, and more. I was thinking of putting together some sort of article to list all the big changes made in a comprehensive way for people who already played the game, so if I get that project done, I'll link it here. Only issue with that is that a *lot* was changed, and I mean a *lot.* Almost a third of the game's lines were changed in some way, so the only real way to experience that is to replay the game. As for now, here's the page for the patch itself. sonome.dareno.me/projects/rne-steam.html
    If you've got any more questions on this front or want to know more, feel free to ask and I'll do what I can.
    Third, in regards to the S;G anime bit where you said they knew what to cut, I would agree except for two things-one of which you mentioned.
    *Spoilers for S;G VN*
    I would say that how they changed Mr. Braun was far for the worse, and removes a lot of his characterization. In the VN, he was just an everyman way over his own head, and he wanted to *protect* Moeka, but in the anime, they have him... shoot her? It's such a nonsense change in the plot that makes no sense for his character. It just serves to make the plot more digestible by instantly making him not "a caring cog in a chain" but "a 2-dimensional murdering cog in a chain." And then, by removing this, they remove Nae's motivations, which is the part you mentioned in the "they knew what to cut" sequence.
    Nae's actions are incredibly important to both the VN and 0, as not only are they mentioned, but the tension present for them is supposed to be a constant looming threat throughout the series. The fact that everyone has Reading Steiner to some capacity means that Nae, while she didn't do those specific actions on the Steins Gate worldline, does retain some memories, and that's a BIG source of the tension in Robotics;Notes ELITE. The game hams it up too, with lines such as "Her eyes weren't smiling," being said constantly. The rest of the series loses out by not having this scene. The anime was cutting ties to the series, yes, so perhaps that's why they made the Nae change, and it probably snowballed into the Braun one too as they needed *some* way to kill Moeka now that Nae was gone, but it's just... messy.
    It doesn't help that it's far less interesting and relevant to the plot, as it's no longer about Okabe's actions causing rifts and problems he can never take back that will continue to haunt him, but just something he happened to get involved in. In the VN, Okabe will now be haunted by a literal living, murderous reminder of his actions, but it's just erased in the anime, and it will forever bother me that they cut it.
    Lastly, and this is the big one: spoilers.
    *Spoilers for the entire SciADV series, excluding O;N below.*
    Your spoiler policy stated in the video says you don't spoil things from beyond the midpoint of the game. You then go on to show CGs from far past that point for every game, including untranslated ones like NoAH.
    All right, maybe you just don't consider out-of-context CGs spoilers, which seems to be the case from your comments. I don't agree with that, but I can see the logic behind it. Part of the issue with that though comes when you supply your viewers with ample context, such as "a pretty infamous Nae scene" while showing a pretty telling CG of the scene in question. This scene takes place in Chapter 9 of Steins;Gate, which is far past the halfway mark.
    Okay, maybe it's just plot reveals past the halfway mark that you consider spoilers. Your pinned comment seems to say that, omitting the halfway part that's mentioned in the video. This is also something I don't agree with, as it ruins some very interesting reveals that happen early on in each of the games, such as Nae being in Robotics;Notes. Both I and a few friends had crazed reactions to her reveal in the end of Phase 3, so I know that it's a cool moment that really shouldn't be spoiled. Regardless, I know you mentioned Nae's role a lot in your video, such as her relationship with Daru, so I get why you employed this rule.
    Only problem is when you start to break your own rule.
    Your Robotics;Notes section has a large part in it where you talk about things that happen in the final few phases of the game. Talking about the character relationships and how the game deals in fake news is fine and provides ample hooks for the viewer to play the games. I don't have an issue with this. What I *do* take issue with is talking about Noah IV. Why would you do this? Why would you spoil one of the game's coolest reveals and biggest connections to the rest of the series after *specifically* saying in the comments you don't spoil major reveals and major twists? Hell, you even provide actual gameplay of certain entries from far beyond the halfway point, such as with Robotics;Notes where you show footage of Phases way past the halfway mark, all of which have several lines read before moving on. This is particularly damaging with things such as Phase 7, where you show Frau in the bathtub and have several lines read that talk about the state of things. This ruins a fairly powerful, shocking moment in the game. You also have footage from Sawada talking in Phase 11.
    It doesn't stop there, either. In the DaSH section, you spoil the final route in the game that only unlocks after doing everything. You spoil that it involves the rest of the S;G members, including both Okabe starting off the route and Maho later in. This is *far* past the midway point of the game, and these characters were only involved in tweeps, not the main plot. Once again, why? These are reveals that are most fun to experience in game. I'm fine with you having a spoiler policy that doesn't agree with mine, as long as you stick to it and I can warn people how to watch the video while avoiding the things I consider spoilers.
    That's everything.
    Sorry for being a bit hard on you and your video that clearly had a lot of effort put into it, but these things really bothered me. You clearly love the series a lot, as do I, and I still immensely appreciate you making this video, even if I had a few issues with it. I'm glad you enjoyed the series I love so much, and I hope you look forward to the Chaos;Head NoAH translation that's in the near future.
    Take care now.

    I really like that SciADV is set in the real world but with fictional elements that exist hidden from populace. It's a very cool setting because it makes your imagination work by presenting various funny ideas like "what if this big organisation was actually X" or "what if this problem in society was caused by Y" and it makes you ask questions and reevaluate your view on the world. I find these settings very interesting but the only settings of this kind that come to mind are World of Darkness, SciADV and Nasuverse which is a shame, there's a lot of unused potential.

    The SciAdv series is the best Science fiction/ Visual novel series in my opinion and people only talk about the anime of Steins;Gate don’t get me wrong I love the Steins;Gate anime but if people think that’s really good they should play the other Visual novels but I get some people can’t play 30+ hour visual novels so they turn to the anime adaptions since the anime adaptions for Chaos;Child Chaos;Head and Robotics;Notes aren’t very good they give up on the SciAdv series writing it off forever I think since visual novels aren’t as big in American most people won’t play it and most likely watch the anime instead so I think that if the animes were better the series would be so much bigger but that’s just my opinion

      This link has the guide I used to play install it in English on PC. Currently the enhanced version, Chaos;Head Noah, isn’t available in English, but later this year it’s getting a Switch port, as well as a (English) fan port to PC that’s been in the works for a while. If you have a Switch, I’d suggest waiting for that one to come out as not only would it support the official release, but will have a lot more content than just the base PC game.

      While they have action elements, I would not describe them as action series. (The games themselves are pure visual novel through and through) being more mystery and drama focused than action. Though some routes have more action than others.

      @Tonsa  Год назад +1

      Unless you strictly want to stick with anime, I’d say your best bet is to play the Visual Novels in release order. So based on ones with English releases: ChäoS;Head Noah, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes Elite, ChäoS;Child, Steins;Gate 0, Robotics;Notes DaSH (there’s some smaller side games, but these are the most notable ones)
      If you want the best experience, play on PC (I believe all are on Steam, and don’t require a powerful computer) and use the committee of zero (Google search and you can find them) patches for a more consistent translation between games. Unfortunately their patch for ChäoS;Head Noah isn’t quite done yet, but it should be done soon.
      As for other games, I didn’t really cover Occultic;Nine or Anonymous;Code in the video, the first still doesn’t have an English release (I believe they’re probably waiting for the enhanced version) while Anonymous;Code has one coming later this year.

      @@Blurro ehh thats not as true as you might think. The sheer number of discussions about steins gate from a RUclips search with just the title is staggering. In fact, alot of the community that watches anime more or less exclusively play the sciadv vns explicitly because steins gate introduced them to it. The nature of world lines makes fans want to seek out every detail and find other forms if media to scratch that itch. I can link several videos of fans who played chaos head/child and robotics notes simply to look for the steins gate references. Which is as you said because it got a great adaptation. But fate/stay night also contributed a great deal to anime fans crossing over to visual novels. Similar to the concept of death note or dragonball getting fans into manga or sword art online getting them into light novels. Any great masterpiece will have fans look to the source material for more content.
      (Not saying Sao is a masterpiece lmao i think you get my point)

  • @KittysInu

    Chaos;Head and Robotics;Notes are just tied by the shared universe, theres really no connection besides forum usernames of other characters and some reoccurring characters in Robotics. Its very understandable to like one and not others (most were visual novels anyway)

    • @Tonsa
      @Tonsa  Год назад +1

      While both certainly can be enjoyed standalone, the connections do run a bit deeper than that. Beyond just the cameos from Takumi and the Geji-nee/Sister Centipede connection, there's also technology introduced in Chaos;Head that is vital to the climax of Robotics;Notes.
      That's not to say if you like one you'll definitely like the other, while they are made by the same people and share a similar writing style, they're tonally very different, but if you've already played Chaos;Head you'll have a greater appreciation for some of the details seen in Robotics;Notes.
      Same applies to nearly any 2 VNs in the series, they can all be enjoyed standalone, but when put together add up to a greater whole.

      @@Tonsa im more speaking to their relation to Steins;Gate, as its what the video was titled to be about (though I never made it to any steins;gate content as I don't care for the Robotics;Notes or Chaos;Head)

    • @Tonsa
      @Tonsa  Год назад

      Even then the same would still apply (talking about the visual novels, since all of these began as VNs before anime, and as I say in the video as anime Steins;Gate is the only one that works well as a replacement for the VN)
      Technology from Chaos;Head is important to Steins;Gate and how time travel works. Robotics;Notes and Chaos;Child are set after Steins;Gate, but both of these feature actual characters from Steins;Gate in important roles, with Robotics;Notes DaSH going so far as Daru being playable.
      The video is titled “beyond the steins;gate” because it is about things that are “beyond” it (i.e. the series as a whole) so is more intended for viewers who have seen or played Steins;Gate and are curious to learn about the rest of the series.

    • @KittysInu
      @KittysInu Год назад +1

      @@Tonsa thats why I said there were reoccurring characters, though the stories don't have much overlap they will always share some things just to tie them to the same universe (the 300 being the *real* villains, though hardly present most times and nonexistent in some cases).
      But someone could play/watch any of the three titles, in any order, and not miss anything important. They're very independent of eachother, hence why I heavily favor Steins;Gate and don't care much for the other two. I think they nailed everything in Steins;Gate. The characters were well written, the tone at the beginning amplifies the hard shift in the story later on, the science fiction elements are both ridiculous and perfectly executed. Ridiculous in that it was a microwave, perfect in every way it affected the world and the people inhabiting it
      I guess it comes down to personal preference for me then in how the information is structured and presented. Starting off heavy in Steins;Gate and working towards the Chaos and Robotics is what I expected, since there are many who haven't played any of the visual novels but watched the anime.
      And that's just down to preference. I also didn't see that this was a Science Adventure retrospective, but thats on me for half reading a title. I clicked on it thinking it was a Steins;Gate retrospective and its place in the Science Adventure universe, sorry about that.
      And while I'm sure that stuff is included in the video, its different than it being the main focus of it.

      @@KittysInuI'm so confused, are you complaining that the video isn't what you misread the title to be? Also just because the games aren't completely connected in every way doesn't mean that they're lesser. There are plenty of people that agree that Chaos;Head NoAH, Robotics;Notes, and Chaos;Child are contenders for best titles in the series. If you don't want to read the VNs then that's fine but dismissing them simply because they aren't direct sequels and prequels is very silly
