  • Steins;Gate is a story of heartbreak, of sadness and slow creeping madness on Okabe's sanity. Saving Mayuri and Kurisu is one thing, but saving himself is something else altogether.

While Steins;Gate might be about making it to the Steins Gate world line, the truth is that Rintaro Okarin is put through the test of whether or not the past is worth fixing. Do we not learn from our mistakes. Is it turly worth fixing the past just the break the future? Steins;Gate is about the grueling journey Okabe has to go through, nearly completely isolated from his friends, to find out the answer to that question, to fix a worldline only he knows is "wrong". But can a reality be wrong? Or is he the wrongness because he isn't from that world line?

Cross this one off the list 👍Obviously we have a long way to go still, covering everything we want to and things we come across along the way, but it's always nice to bust out a heavy hitter. I hope you enjoy! Shoutout to RTO for working on this one with us, checkout their channel if you're so inclined!

If you want a really good time travel series, possibly better than steins gate, the 12 monkey series is really good. And season one is relative grounded, but season 2 onward gets really intereting with a time travel war and more comple even and pilosophical, fun, zany, and great characters. And more surprisingly, its tighly written that consistent explains literally everything.
It also goes into what makes time travel complicated and wolnt spoil more, actually tight logical yet zany fun and sad.

    Good job. however,,
Steins Gate Zero is NOT an alternate ending. The events of Zero truly happened after Okabe originally gave up on saving Kurisu in the events of Steins Gate episode 23 (see episode 23.5). He eventually recovered and decided to continue saving the world, and finally after years of work he also came up with the solution to save both mayuri and kurisu, thus the phone call from the future okabe in the last episode of Steins Gate, episode 24!

    • @marocat4749

Cming to terms with it, which h did eventually and find new hope is in line too. He came up with that after the hard work to pull himself together, so he did work throgh it and its part what gets him there. I would argue past okabe by willing to go ther did earn help, from hemself to do the seeming impossible.

The video is very good but here's two corrections: No matter what you do in the Alpha Worldline, SERN and the Committee will always be the rulers of the world. The WWIII you are talking about is in the Beta worldline.
And S;G 0, while considered an alternate ending, it still happened and is the culmination of all past 0kabes that finally did the Operation to reach Steins Gate.
Steins;Gate is an amazing show and the way things are explained makes sense. And the fact that him ultimately saving everyone from WWIII is just a small scale in the whole Science Adventure is just so good.

This is an excellent review of the central core of the Steins;Gate story. Well done. There's one thing I wanted to ask. You say that the ending of Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 are different. They are but again they are not. SG0's ending enables Steins;Gate's ending for us. The true difference is experienced by the respective Okabes; Steins;Gate Okabe saves Kurisu, whereas Alpha World Okabe has still lost her and knows he will never see her again.
Again, thank you for the excellent video of my favorite anime.

It's a 6 part anime that was really short. The opening chase sequence is something I've never seen done in another anime.

Steins;Gate is the most bingable anime besides Baccano, which is impressive on Steins;Gate's part because not only is it double in length, but it doesn't split constantly between character perspectives which was the main reason for Baccano's bingability. In what feels like three hours you've already watched 18 episodes. Usually this kind of pacing is not the selling point of a show for me, but I think it really benefits Steins;Gate as a beginner-friendly anime that has a lot more under its surface than others.

I've watched SG and SG0 through I think 4 times because over the years I'll forget some details and it'll surprise me all over again. I also super highly recommend playing that games! Thanks for this video and for sharing. I saw this anime at a pretty formative part of my life, and seeing this video reminded me of just how much I think it influenced the way I think. Great anime!

22:00 that’s what gave this question:
Is there a bloodline of good people? Or a bloodline of bad people?
How many life-saving heroes are descendants of murderers or rapists?
Is there an unsung hero wondering why did their child become a True Crime monster? “What did I do wrong? COULD I HAVE PREVENTED THIS?”

Hououin is not Okabe. He isn’t arrogant, he just puts on an arrogant persona to make Mayuri happy.

I enjoyed this anime a lot, but never loved it as much as my friends. but your comments about the horrible things in your life that shaped you into the person you are now, giving you the people in your life now. gave me new perspective about the anime. I have my own awful manipulative ex just like you said many do, but with the people in my life now I wouldn't change it. the idea was already a thought I felt outside of the anime but connecting it... great shit. I hope I can help support yall in the future. been watching for years. o7

    16:15 Explanation:
. C.E.R.N. (the real life one) was fundamental in the creation of the Internet (the famous HTML & TCP/IP Protocols). It also researched (R.) the theoretical basis for the cellphone comunication system.
. S.E.R.N. (the one from Steins Gate) did the same, but also put a "backdoor" that was eventually used in every [national, public, regulated] system of comunications using S.M.S. or anything similar. This creates a secret "shadow copy" of ALL messages ever sent.
. There is a "New World Order Conspiracy" ( The Comitee of the 300 ) that tries to _dominate the world_ ( "The Organization" of Okabe´s "delirum" ); they are regulary checking for any "mismatch" DATA or anomalies [including the metadata trace an SMS sent "backwards" in time would leave in their antennas/subsystems], because they EXPECTED to "hear themselves" sending some data from the future.
-> This is a very slow automated system (rarely being supervised by actual humans).
The time that has to pass from the moment a "Delorean-Mail" arrived at the past ( & when someone working on this "secret SMS spying" noticed a mismatch) changes depending how many other DMails have being sent [then "goons" are to be sent to retrieve the objects at the lab and capture/kill the people in it].
-> Even just the original "Makise Kurisu is dead" half_broken DMail is enough to cause the death of Mayuri [but ONLY if it is eventually DETECTED by REAL PEOPLE].
Instead of preventing the creation/arrival of the DMail, Daru found a way to "edit" the secret database (before it is seen by a human), so the contents & metadata of the "anomalous" SMS are masked/deleted.

loved your commentary, I wanted to comment I love the OP "Hacking to the Gate" also and I know that isn't a discussion here but , the actual English translation the OP is so well written , the is one part that says right before it goes into the chorus, "While the two hands point out what is 'finate', all of which leads to a cruel contract and choice to make." That line always summed up a lot of things to me.

I dealt with my fair share of "what ifs" like if I didn't get scammed out of a huge sum of cash from someone on a third rate dating app, I would never owe in back rent and still be working at the local Marriott hotel (got fired from there in 2017 and spent nearly a year out of work but I'm at peace with my current employer), never dabbled in dating female inmates, owed in back rent and the debt grew because every payment I sent to property management went to paying the back rent and if I never have an ex break up with me in 2013, I wouldn't be in a loving relationship now.

i think lots of people try but are struggling with continuing to try. i didn't know this but apparently lots of people who are depressed or are being brought down by past actions, and becoming depressed end up apathetic towards themselves and strangely they wont feel the same for others, they can continue to believe in others despite themselves becoming severely and chronically depressed. its a serious affliction, and somehow there is a calibre of person able to be selfless while they slowly succumb to their affliction. natures a bitch.
