The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was passed in 1989 to protect the SC and ST communities from violence and social discrimination.

The act is wonderful but the conviction rate is drastically low. Hardly, 2-3% because of pitiful situation of police and courts.

I like to mention in Central and west India Meena is more self sufficient than Bhil of RJ, also towards North Uttrakhand Bhotia is more wealthy than Tharu and in NE chakma who are economically strong than some northeastern indigenous. They were been given many fecility in many states in Tripura, Karbi anglong and Arunachal

Some are economically and educated highly, moreover they comit the same atrocity act on fellow comunities what is ur stand on that sir

What about if any sc Or ST commit the same crime on fellow category of different ethnic groups? Does it come or fall under this Act of atrocities 1989
