Came across this to see if I could save the carcass of my kitchen cabinets. They are chipboard and few corners gone. This is brilliant. Seems such a waste to pull them out to replace with almost the same. The doors are MDF shaker style and they successfully took the laminate off and painted them.
My question is, would it be possible to change the colour? Can I paint over the laminate on the chipboard part successfully?

I never knew this tool existed.
I have some corners with puffed up space between the veneer. Could the wood be soaked and squeezed into position and let dry, or could the particle boar be dug out so that the veneers meet at the corners again?
I don't really want to remove huge chunks of material and fill it with wax

No. Because it is not beech wax, but carnauba wax (wax from a palm tree). Just buy ready waxes for furniture restoration. It would be better.

@@TheRestorer crazy idea, but makeup supply shops- TKB trading in California sells raw ingredients. you can buy many types of waxes- yes carnuba, also some others that are even "harder" (based on melt temp) then you can buy oxides color powders.(pot the mic types, they sparkle a bit, just oxide) use double boiler when heating waxes, Put wax in can (soup can works well) fill pot with inch or so water. Add oxides slowly. For black you may want to use more than black oxide. Possibly doctor it with some red and green. You can buy all their items in sample size (teaspoon of color goes a long way, and waxes are a tablespoon) to see if it works. $1.65 ea. I checked ETSY- no one sells the selection of colors to repair particleboard this way.......maybe a niche market?

@@TheRestorer or rather everyday household items or things you can easily get from a hardware store. Buying, and then learning to use a soldering iron requires practice and learning of skill.
Alternatives being, wood filler, or as in other videos... Sawdust mixed with wood glue and applied as a paste, let dry and then sand. These are things that don't require the expensive purchase of a soldering iron for one specific task when it's not guaranteed you would use it again. Sawdust and wood glue, or wood filler...you have other uses for.

Very complicated, take to much time to fix, best solution check and see if it is Particle Board or cheap material. When humidity or water hit it start to break apart. The best is to buy real wood don't spend thousands of dollars on cheap material that does't last for years. To place in the kitchen, bedroom, living room and ect.
Ask yourself is this furniture worth this price. If your conscious say no. Don't buy it. Be patient and you will find the right one for the right price or even less it work for me.
You better of useing uses ones that are real wood and repainting it. It last longer.
Before I buy a furniture I check the materials, not the beauty, beauty can deceive and see if this break can I fix it.
People that buy this type furniture with thousands of dollars are being deceived. Don't be take in for a fool.
With amount of money you could buy tool and the material and make it yourself to last.

You are right. But not everyone can buy wooden furniture - they are very expensive. Many designers and craftsmen use chipboard in their projects. Therefore, you need to know how to easily repair minor damage to chipboard and MDF

Holly cow !! I was going to throw out hundreds of laminated particle boards boards I have saved over the years!!!
You ROCK!! If you can give us in the USA the wattage of the melter- (Konig site does not reveal it) we can buy appropriate solder Iron. I think a wide flat chisel wood burning tip would do the job. Just needs to be similar temp.
    Keep up great work.

Put a layer of glue on Patrick’s board edge’ (wood glue) spread it even with a tiny brush’
      Let it dry!!!
You have in essence sealed that edge’ now glue your strip to it’
To skip all that go get a small bottle of contact cement’
(Not that rubber crap from school) legit contact cement’
You put it on both surfaces
      Strip/ edge
Wait 10-15 mins for it to tack now put strip on’
