Hey Cheech there’s an easier way to tie in the beard on a diawl bach.Tie in the beard feathers On Top of the shark overlapping the eye by about 5mm.Just before tie off split the hackle in two either side the hook eye and push the fibres under the hook eye and tie in.Theres a video on this if you’re interested
I'm not very good at still water I haven't caught a lot and mainly use Nymphs so I haven't had the opportunity to use this technique in still water but in rivers and streams and streams when they short strike I immediately stop let the fly sink maybe 2 seconds and set the hook and I got a fish my theory is the short strike is wound it so its easier take

I have been using the booby for my washing line point fly for years. It is also great to fish them on a sinking line.
