Fly Tying: Beginner Predator Flies - Part 1: Bucktail Deceiver

- Опубликовано: 11 окт 2018
- This is an short video series aimed at showcasing the most basic predator fly patterns - the Bucktail Deceiver and BULKHead Deceiver - and how to adapt them to best fit your conditions and forage species. These two flies can be tied with bare minimum materials, are extremely durable, and are flat out some of the most successful predator flies ever designed. I had the pleasure of filming this series down in Brazil this past Oct. and put these flies through the ringer with great success fooling many large Peacock Bass. Weather your targeting trophy Amazon Peacocks, Northwoods Smallmouth and Musky, or East Coast Stripers - these are the flies that will get you started and follow you for a lifetime of success on the water.

Hook: Gami SL12S 4/0

Yoooo this intro music! Hell yeah.
This was a great beginners kit for a great price. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxKRURvLsu9Vvyw7gIuvt8FsApoQNCdz-1 Its given us a huge variety to test out and see what works well and what we like to use. Majority of the flies have stayed together well, but some of the rainbow warriors did unravel after catching a few blue gill. All in all, this was a great kit and are so happy with the purchase and value for money.
Dude that hand whip finish is so smooth.
Great save on that thread breakage, lol. Love your tutorials & ties. Keep up the great work & Godspeed Gunnar!🙏👍👊🤝
Hej Gunnar. Just need to tell you how much I apreciate your skills, not only as a tyer, but even more as a teacher with super reflexions on the materials and their different functions in the fly.
Big fan. Keep on teaching. Kind regards here from Denmark.

I really like and appreciate the way you explain the techniques and tips that you use, it has and will continue to help me tie beautiful flys.
That cast at the 0:24 mark. Fire.
Wtf does "fire" mean in relation to commenting his cast? This some millennial thing?
Simplicity is beautiful!!!!!
Perfect. For Amazon Peacock Bass, the simple is the best.
Nice video as always. I loved the thread save. In 30 years of tying I have never had a thread break, ya right then you have never tied a fly .
Great stuff Gunnar!! Love the simple flies because the fish sure do! Agree, silhouette is important - it is what the predator keys in on. The only thing I would add is an eye - think that they eye is a critical trigger. Enjoy your trip! ATB! Hank
Great Deceiver Gunner I just started tying flies a year-and-a-half ago I've learned more from you then some people that I've been watching between you and Kelly Gallup I learned a lot I live in Florida so mostly like scuds and mayflies and stuff I don't really even need those but most of the Flies that I've seen you tired I've learned so much thank you
Very good video for beginner, because you tell all the time what you do and why. Thank you
Thanks for the videos! I just started and have learned so much from these videos!
Love your videos.True master of the art.
Great tutorial Gunnar! 👌
Awsome! Loved it
Greatest soundtrack!!))
Great Fly!!
Tied one of these up and killed on lake rainbows that have been finicky lately. Good to go back to basics, I alternated with some other white patterns and this out performed on a bright sunny day. Although I did add eyes to the head. Great fly.
*Excellent selection especially for the newer angler. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s entire assortment looks to be tied well. Looking forward to getting them wet...*
Hey Gunnar. Eating my heart out watching that Amazon footage. Awesome. Someday maybe. Great tip on the back up spooled bobbin for a quick save. Like it.
Nice per usual. Those bucktails you get mixed or two to a bag are usually the shorter fibers or if you are missing that type of hair on a silky tail just go to the base of tail... lots of flair, too at base
Sweet!
Exactly what I'm talking about
Never pictured you as a metalhead, but I'm glad to know you are brother. \m/
watch his older vids! Metal all over
Nice video :)
Great video.... Simple is good. Especially when dealing with BIG fish????🎣🎣🎣🎣
Great video!
Quick question: When you put the Tear Mender into the Loon bottle, do you clean out the bottle first? If so, how?
Thanks
Damn son. That was bad ass. I likey alot.
cool!!
Awesome video. I think you are doing a half hitch after each section. It would be great if you slow that down to demonstrate that part.
Great!!!
Drank every time I heard high and tight wow 👏 good fly and feeling good
Metal and fishing 🤘🏻
Very Kool
I really like your style of tying. What other colors would you recommend for LM & SM bass
The first one I tied was perfect put the rest on having problems with the Bucktail spinning and can’t get to flair around the hook
That intro music 👌
What is the purpose of spinning your bobbin every time you start tying? Thanks
Why you spinn thread before tying materials. Do you made that thread round or you do try to open it flat?
What size is the thread?
Thanks for the straightforward, simple approach. Is predator your name for these flies or ?
Would say that the fly would be easier to cast with just EP fibers instead of using natural ?
Easy enough:)
No matter how many times I try to tie this fly, it never works. I can’t get the tear drop look. I literally so everything you’re doing and it never works
👍
who sings your interduction song?
Silence the Assembly
gotta eat crow what a super pattern.........thanks
Heavy music and heavy fish
Y really need to get rid of that horrible noise that you start your video with,
WTH kind of music is that, crap
music ruins the video.....wtf
Hate that stupid music
