- This video is intended to showcase "Freestyle" tying within the constraints of a BULKhead Deceiver platform - maintaining all the pros of the Bulkhead platform while integrating color fades, counter-shading, and eyes, ect....to more closely imitate specific forage colors and profiles. The video combines some of the concepts from both the Bucktail Deceiver and BULKhead Deceiver videos to create a realistic perch fly.
Materials:
Bucktail - two sizes: Long and straight, and Short and Curly both Yellow and Orange
Flashabou: Gold, and Holo Olive Standard Size
Lateral Line Flash: Dyed Pearl Series
Soft Hackles: Marabou Soft Hackle Patch in Orange
Peacock Herl: 12 Strands
Eyes: Tab Eyes - 8mm
Hook: Gami 4/0 or Other Saltwater Hook
Intro Song
Band: Silence the Assembly, Song: Deaf Eyes
These types of flies I've never even attempted because they look so intimidating to tie but this video helped a lot with breaking it down step by step great video
Just a quick fly tied in the middle of the Amazon... *ties the most beautiful fly I’ve ever seen. I’m seriously about to order a Vice and materials to try a scaled down version for a Florida peacock trip this summer!
Caught off guard by the metal intro. We can be friends.
*Excellent selection especially for the newer angler. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s entire assortment looks to be tied well. Looking forward to getting them wet...*
You just fixed a ton of my flies with that peacock curling tip!
I actually say "boop parallel" now. Side note you're a beast.
Gunnar,
Nice fly. Hope to see you again this year at Bar Flies in Ypsi. I enjoy your videos and you have taught an old guy a TON about tying. Keep up the good work.
Love the Bass-Hands
The Bob Ross of fly tying
Beautiful fly!!!!
Nice fly and video. For toothy critters I tie in the tab eyes in reverse with the tab pointed towards the tail. Then you have a solid base to glue the eye down, this way you have both the tab and the glue securing the eye, even better with a coating of epoxy or UV resin. The eyes will probably be the last thing remaining on the hook with this method.
For toothy critters?...are you nut 😂...this is bucktail (NATURAL HAIR) the first bite is destroyed...even tarpon and snook well last at least three or four fish
new to tying. like brand new. love your techniques
Amazing fly O.O More fly tying please !
Very nice flypattern and technique!
I truly love that you are a fly fisherman with excellent taste in music. I bet we could be bros!
Killer fly! Love your videos
Death metal and fly-fishing. That’s a new one for me.
A really nice fly!
Seems perfect! 👍
You sir, Are indeed a wizard.
Hi my friend, beautiful fly!!!! Congratulations and the next time you come to our Amazon, bring one for me, please !!!
Cudos, once again. Hope you caught a nice fish with it!
Awesome !! Love the opening music and that cast into that little cut out . Sweet.
Nice master...
Just killer!
Earnt a sub! Very well done
You must have caught a ton of those peacock bass to still have your digits taped. Nice addition to b heads
Fun pattern.
Hy Gunnar, I was just wandering if you had used the PRO sportfisher " head foils"???
They come in all kind's of types ( you can see them in Daniel's shop for ex).
I think they would really look great on your flies.
How important is the hackle? Is there anything you would suggest as a substitute or would just simply omitting it entirely be okay?
The Best!!!
Makes me hungry just looking at it :)
Dude that music scared the hell out of me! Too loud! Enjoyed the rest of the video!
Ha,ha,ha 🤣 none related fly tying question but who's the band that playing in the beginning of this video and name of the song ? I'm a music freak so gotta know so I can hear the whole song and probably add it to my Playlist.
Dude! That intro song...
Fuck the intro song. The fly, on the more musical side is nicely designed, well tied. I'm definitely going to whip some up. Thanks!
The tab eyes are being ordered, maybe better than fish skulls?
You're a maestro. But that music almost made me not watch or like.
I needed to hear the jungle river sounds.
What’s the red hair like stuff you used? At the end of the video that you glued the eyes on ??
has anyone used a SAGE PAYLOAD 6+ or 7+ rod? if so would you recommend it for peacock bass?
You probably found the answer already, but for Florida peacock bass, a 6 or 7wt is fine. For Amazon fish no way.
Love the lateral feathers, where did you get them?
Do you ever sell these Fire Tiger Bulk Head flies??
Like that pattern, I muted the intro noise.
Tab eyes are great but they must be reinforced! The tabs are made of foil and are durable but the eyes (dome type) are attached to the tabs with an adhesive. It is not a great adhesive in my experience. You need to cover the eyes with resin.
what bobbin and scissors are you using here?
Awesome as always! Hey Gunnar... did you ever do any testing of the Texas hook flexible titanium extension and do you have any updates on the concept?
Did not like the Metal Music Intro, video of the fly and catching the Peacock Bass was great otherwise!
Класс!!!
Music makes me feel like robbing a bank... not tying a fly... yet alone even fishing.. jeesh
Ha! Priceless comment
"muskie chew toy"
nice fly, music sucks
