There are fly tying channels, and fly fishing channels.. but I don't know of any others who do both in one vid. Keep it up! !
I appreciate the feedback! I got the idea from a viewer last year, and it seems to work out well!
Peelindrag it’s awesome
Really are nailing pikes on streamers around the area! Nice work Josh! Making me want to pick up a fly rod for the first time ever!
If you ever get the chance I'd definitely suggest it! Tons of fun.
Fly fishing for pike is SO fun. This spring has been a skunk for me though, which sucks because im moving down south and wont have an opportunity for them for a while. The delivery man is a sick pattern... all of his are though. The unholy diver is another one of my favs, and almost all of my pike flies are based off of the delivery man or the aino. Amazing tier that guy. You're getting very good at tying yourself. Love the videos man keep it up! Try getting some double barrel popper heads and tie them in reversed for a diver effect. Fun fly topwater there!
Hopefully you can get a few before you go down south! Andreas sure has some cool patterns. I'll check out the popper heads, thanks for the suggestion!
Incredible Fly making technique! Killer N,Pikes to boot! Just always love your videos dude!
Thanks man! I'm glad you liked it!
Peelindrag beautiful flies your tying anyway to get you to send one of the red and white to an oldman
Awesome video as always Dude. You can certainly see your fly tying skills are improving FAST 👊👌
It sure is fun! Spending lots of time at the vice.
Very nice work man. The only thing I would suggest when tying your flies(granted I’ve seen it happen but I’ve never had it happen to me) is run the articulation through the eye of the front hook when tying down your wire. It will prevent the wire from slipping out and leaving you with a single hook fly.
You are my favourite RUclipsr
Killer video man your river pike vids are my favorite
Mine too! Thanks for watching, Tom!
haha far out the pike flies look so sick.
Thanks man!
You’re tying has exploded nice variant of the deliveryman! Awesome stuff! Keep it up regards Rasmus from Sweden
I've had lots of time to work on it! Many more tying videos to come
LupusDeAqua hallå där:)!
Tja fan
Awesome job!
Really enjoy the fly tying and then fishing it! Hmm.... maybe a set of flies tied by peelin himself for a giveaway one of these days.
That's a great idea! Maybe I'll try something like that eventually.
Nice man, beautiful streamer, congrats from brazil
Awesome dude! If you can, you should try for some brook trout. Tried for the first time this past week and glad I made the jump. Just find some small creeks with riffle structure and throw some small spinners and you'll be set
I'd love to do that sometime! Hopefully I can find some creeks that have them!
Good luck man! If you ever swing by the U.P. give me a shout and I'll put you on some spots
Hey man your videos are awesome, I was wondering for us new fly casters and tyers, could you do some videos on how to cast a fly rod and what not? Keep it up man I love watching your stuff.
Thanks man, I don't have any casting videos but here is a great video by Orvis. ruclips.net/video/d8idd4kgXY4/видео.html
I love this Video! Bad ass fly and technique!! Thank you for the advice on the UP Joshua!
Oii first like first comment
Hi Can you publish a list of materials used?
This may have been answered already but why when finishing the head was there two parts of craft fur and only one on the bottom
Apply the glue all the way through to the hook shank. It will help keep the eyes on for a longer period of time.
Dude you are a master fly tier! Nice work!
Love the video
Thanks Nick!
A class 456 rod is good for pike and perch? I use it only for chub and trout but i want to try for bigger fish... Idk if my rod can do it..
Yeah white body and red head are my best opinion for pike 😉
Good job, tell me what most common materials you use for tying big streamers ?
Love you vids
Don't know if this has been asked, what vice are you using??
I’m super late to the chat but do you remember what feathers you used?!
I have that fly myself in a tube version :D
muito bom, belos capturas!🎣🐟🐟
You got talent man!!!!!!! Very nice tie!
Ever try a stripping basket? Keeps your line nice and untangled in front of you.
Just saying.
I've thought about using one, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe eventually I'll pick one up
Hy, i have 5/6 wt combo and 5wt line, why i can't cast streamers like yours? Evem half like you use in this video... They just don't fly...
For throwing larger pike streamers most people use 8 or 9wts. 5wt line won't be able to carry a heavy streamer as well.
Where do you buy your fly tying materials?
There are two things I don't like about pike. They smell really bad, and they can be annoying when you aren't fishing for them.
I've definitely been annoyed by them breaking me off while bass fishing. But I think they're a blast to target!
Where do you get all your supplies, catalog order, how about some info..one stop shop..
I don't normally buy fishing gear online because I like to see it in person first. Typically I just stock up whenever I'm out near a fly shop.
0:30, what did you do to your hand dude??
Got my finger a little to close to a pike's mouth..
Peelindrag, ok, yeah you really gotta watch your fingers around these guys. Btw you really made my day by replying. Thank you!
nice fly very véry good fishing
Cool vid
Thanks Caleb!
You said you were walking up stream vs down stream any reason why ?????
When you walk through rivers you often stir up the sediment on the bottom. If your walking up stream everything flows behind you, but if your walking downstream all that sediment is going to be infront of you going into the spots you want to fish.
Hey, what kind of hackle are you using? Like brand and package size? They are very long and I’m looking to tie for smallmouth fishing this fall so I really would like to have something like that to add to them.
I don't have the original packaging so I don't know all that information unfortunately. But they are just called grizzly saddle hackles. You should be able to find that at most fly shops.
Peelindrag well I appreciate it, thanks for getting back to me.
what type of rod length, action, wt were you using?
The whole set up is in the description 👍
What wt rod are you using?
Sweet session l
I love fly fishing. I love pike. Now if only the fishing gods would let me catch a fly pike already.
Great video, I'm new to fly tying.is this what they call an articulated fly? Is the resin enough to catch GT's? (Giant Trevally)
*Excellent selection especially for the newer angler. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s entire assortment looks to be tied well. Looking forward to getting them wet...*
Great videos bud. Your fly tying is also very impressive. DflySa South Africa
What’s line weight?
I enjoy your vedios.
Wow, awesome fly
love ur vids man
Yea! I need some more flies for these big south ga bass! These guys spooled my 6 wt. getting and 8 or 9
Ever throw a Top water popper fly for Pike ???
I have a little bit, but not too much. Definitely something I'll be doing this summer though.
I don't know if I'm the only one but I'd like to see more fly tying vids. Good job on the vids.
very cool! where did you get the rig at for tying flys? can you use other lures on it as well?
you could use a stripping basket, mate! nice video and beautiful fish!
Pike on the fly. Great video man. That fly would work great for stripers!
Nice videos!
All the best,
Jimmy Willis
I have been fly fishing for a little over a year now, but I have not gotten into fly tying yet. Do you have any recommendations or advice for me to start fly tying? It looks really fun to make your own flies and then catch fish on it!
Look up a bunch of tying videos on youtube, then pick a few patterns you like and keep tying them over and over until you like how it looks. It takes a while, and at first the flies probably won't look too great. But once you start to get the hang of it you'll pick up on it quickly.
Peelindrag thx bro I appreciate you helping!💪🏼👊🏼
Peelindrag I have another question, what kits or supplies do you recommend me to buy for fly tying?
Most vices in the $100 range are pretty good quality, but if your just starting out and don't want to spend a lot you can get away with cheaper ones. I haven't tried out any fly tying kits myself, but if you just want to get the hang of it and tie up some basic patterns a kit is probably the way to go. You can always upgrade from there if you end up really enjoying it.
Great videos! Thank you.
almost every pike ive caught this year outa the river has been tore up to
Those are definitely bite marks from some thing else
Awesome, love those flies. Big bass lure as well. Think it would be great if you hooked some big red fish in south Texas. I'm sure Texas Redfish Hunter could hook you up. He has a channel, they sight fish alot. You make watching so exciting, perfect hook size. This was more fun than top water and I will vote fly next time
That sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately I don't get to travel out of state much, but I'll check that out! And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video!
so it seams like the seaducer type of fly works goood for pike
you inspired me to start fly fishing
nice work
Most excellent fly tying at the start, that is how to get it done.
Yes, awesome. Swear to god I’d buy your flies if I could! Hmm..
Maybe someday I'll have that as an option!
Is the stuff in the bottle glue ? And then does the uv light set the fibers in the feathers ? Please make like a 5-10 min video explaining the basics thank you, been watching for over a year
You pretty much got it. It's a liquid in the bottle, but hardens immediately when in contact with the UV light. It's often put on the end of the fly to seal the thread together or in my case, keep the craft fur facing the direction I wanted. I'm glad you've stuck around! Many more videos to come.
I use the same scissors for tying they’re awesome and cheap!
Could these flies be applied for small river/creek Muskie effectively?
I've never used them for musky but I'm sure they'd work. Maybe add another sement in the middle to bulk up the fly a bit.
What vise are you using?
Renzetti traveler 2000
Love the enthusiasm, nice video, keep up the good work!!
Nice job, it doesn’t get much better than making your own lure and then catching fish with it. Do you think the first pike was hit by a boat prop?
It's possible, but you wouldn't be able to take a motorized boat through these rivers. The pike could have gotten injured in a lake or larger river then traveled here though.
Get the savage gear snake! I would love to see a video using that
Have mostly fished for bass since I began fishing. Moving to Washington in the near future.. Any recommendations for getting into/learning fly fishing?
Going to small ponds or places with lots of easy to catch fish helps a lot. You can practice your casting, and catching fish while doing it boosts your confidence.
incongruity has been taken to a new level.
I don't like catching pike because they always bite me
Dude that edit for the fly tying was killer!
How do you manage not snagging on branches with so many false casts LOL
It does happen occasionally, but I try to position myself carefully before casting. Some spots unfortunately are very difficult to cast to with the fly around these rivers.
Definitely an incredible video. I knew you could do it. Reverse tie 50/50 and a 70/30. I am paying attention. Well done.
I've been doing a lot of practice! I'm glad you liked it.
Dude, this video was awesome! What are you using for a leader? I loved seeing you tie your flies and then use them in the same video!
I often times buy leaders that already have a wire tippet attached. But I also have some tieable wire called knot2kinky which is very durable and doesn't curl up. The only down side is it takes some practice to be able to tie knots with it.
good to show materials used
Geez, I'm missing out bigtime in Maine. Pickerel don't even run the rivers here. To my knowledge, the only place pike/muskies run the river are on the St.John. However, that's a good thing for the brook trout and salmon population even though the smallmouth populations really taking over too much. All the good deep holes in the rivers that used to hold big trout and landlocked salmon now hold big smallies, which sucks because I like fishing for them more than bass. Bass are fun and all, but when they aren't a native species they really mess with an ecosystem. Maine's not really known for big smallies, but it should be since I caught a multitude of 3-4lb and even 5lb fish last summer on my local river.
Man I'm sorry to hear that. Pike would definitely push out trout in the rivers.. hopefully the trout and salmon can make a come back eventually!
They just might man. The state has no bag limit on all smallmouth this season, so hopefully people take part in that. They did it with pickerel a few years back when they started getting massive(25" average on my local lake), so maybe this will help!
Great job man! I love the full experience video! To top it off, you'll also need to build your rod too!. :)
It'll probably be a while till I build any rods.. maybe eventually though. I'm sure that'd be lots of fun!
Fun watching your fishing experiences. It holds me over until my next time out.
I'm glad they can help!
Definetly post more fly fishing videos I’m a huge fan of them!
You bet! Thanks for the feedback
🤝 show , Rogério 🇧🇷
Will love to see more fly tying episodes from you.
Lock tight is the best
Bro I love your videos, keep it up and more videos like this please! Love yuh man!
More tying videos to come for sure! I'm glad you liked it!
Awesome video! Really enjoyed the fly tying and fishing together.
I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully it helps people learn some solid patterns.
Hello I’m new to fly tying and unsure where to purchase materials, could you please post a link to a good shop to buy stuff thanks!
Most fly shops will have these materials, but if you don't have any near by here are two links to websites that I trust.
1.) nomadanglers.com/collections/fly-tying-products
2.) kanalgratis.se/en/flies
Dakota Angler & Outfitter is my local shop in South Dakota. They have everything you'd ever need, and are great people. Check em out!
awesome sir keep it up mate
Bro you’re truly an inspiration! I like to see a young gun like you do this. Fun stuff keep it up!
Noel my number one fan!
What type of fly rod is that?
Orvis Clearwater 8wt
Peelindrag dang, $200 bux at bass pro, seems kinda high, just getting into fly fishing, any other recommendations?
Wow , love to see the builtpart.
